Keeping Up With Carinya

Welcome to 2022! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a safe New Year celebration.

So much has happened in the last month with Christmas festivities and our development.

This year we hope to finally complete the development once and for all. However, our continuous improvement never stops and we have a few new initiatives and projects in the pipelines already.

We are looking forward to sharing our year to come and wish you a prosperous new year!

Issue 5, January, 2022

Visiting Currently, we are in lockdown. We are classified as an exposure site. Our restrictions are managed by the Department.

Unfortunately, this means we

are not allowed to have any visitors.

Once we have clearance from the department we will advise families and friends.

Facebook Just a reminder to all families and friends, we do have a private Facebook account.

Carinya Aged Care - Residents, Family members and Employees have been set up specifically to communicate important information and general updates including photos.

Friends and family members are welcome to join or be invited however everyone must answer required questions and agree to the rules otherwise you will be declined.

Christmas Lunch The annual Residents, Staff and Committee Christmas party was held on the 16th December 2021.

It was so nice to use the balcony, with such perfect weather.

Thank you to the amazing Kitchen staff for the delicious afternoon tea. The L&W team for pulling it all together.

Christmas Craft Our lovely Leisure and Wellbeing student, Annie, showed us how to make these beautiful little Christmas Puddings one afternoon.

What great fun we had!!

Salon Up and Running It has been a long time coming, from the 23rd December 2021 we received handover to yet another stage of our development.

This time it was our eagerly anticipated hairdressing salon! Residents were keen to be first in line to enjoy a freshen up.

Keeping busy during Lockdown From Sudoku to colouring to enjoying freshly cut roses our residents continue to keep themselves entertained during lockdown.

Yesterday with the recent heat wave, residents enjoyed an ice cream, not just any ice cream, it was lovingly decorated with delicious toppings from our L&W team.

Save the Date Our first fundraising event for 2022 is happening on the 26th March 2022.

Carinya will be holding their Trivia night. It is always a great night with many laughs.

COVID Update Last year all eligible residents received their booster shots. We have another date organised with the medical center for the 16th February 2022. It is also mandatory for staff by 1st March, staff will be included on this day also.

At the time of print residents have undergone 2 PCR tests due to Carinya being an exposure site, so far no results to report yet however no residents are showing any symptoms , which is a good sign!

Development From the 23rd of December 2021, we were handed over another completed stage of our development.

This included Hair Salon, Multipurpose room, staff room, Leisure and Wellbeing/Physio office, Care Manager Office, Admin Office and Meeting room. Development is set to resume 20th January 2022.

Retirement Village Happy New Year!

Welcome, to The New Year 2022, I hope that you and your family had a Merry Christmas.

Thank you for your notification of residents going on holidays, it helps when caring neighbours or residents of the Carinya community ring me concerned of your welfare, I can inform them that you are ok.

Summer is Back!

As the summer is here, please take care remembering to keep hydrated, plenty of water prior to a scorcher day helps, avoid going out in the heat if possible, keeping curtains blinds and windows closed to keep the heat out. Slip. Slop. Slap, Seek and Slide. (Yes, its 5 now)

Book Exchage If anyone is wanting some new books to read over the holiday time. There is plenty at the book exchange, give me a call or pop into Unit 19 and see me.
