Keeping Up With Carinya

We have enjoyed some celebrations over the last couple of months, including St Patricks Day, birthdays, Easter and ANZAC day. Coming up we have Mothers day to enjoy also.

Unfortunately, due to recent COVID positive cases, we are currently in lockdown. However, non-covid positive residents are allowed to leave the facility. Families of residents who have tested positive have been notified. We hope to have isolated the potential risk to other residents and are hopeful we can resume visits in the coming week or two.

We have some important information included in this edition of Keeping up with Carinya so please have a look and let us know if you have any questions or feedback.

Visiting Due to recent positive cases, we are allowing 1 nominated essential caregiver visitor that has been approved by management to attend once a day.

We are trying to contain this as best as possible, we

understand

this

is

a

concerning

time.

Residents are still allowed to leave the facility so long

as

they

are

not

required

to

isolate

themselves.

Mothers Day Sunday, May 8th 2022

Happy Mothers Day to all of our residents, staff, volunteers, family and friends!

Federal Election This year the Election Commission has advised they will NOT be attending Carinya Aged Care, in previous years residents could vote at Carinya on a specified day.

We have been advised by the commission that all residents will either need to attend on election day or organise a postal vote.

This must be organised by families, Carinya are unable to assist with residents attending voting or postal votes.

Families

are

also

responsible

to

ensure resident details are correct or organise exemptions.

Missing We are heading into our 4th week of missing Maple.

Please if anyone knows where our Maple is or has seen her can you please contact Carinya.

It is very unusual for her to go missing, we are in regular contact with local laws and vets.

We are

hoping someone has just befriended her and she is safe.

Fundraising Trivia Night Recently, Carinya Aged Care held its first fundraising event since COVID impacted most if not all of our fundraising plans. Saturday 26th March 2022, we successfully hosted a Trivia Night at the Kongwak Hall. The support from the local community and our very generous sponsors made this night a very successful fundraiser and a lot of fun!

We enlisted the help of the very capable and captivating Rhonda and Cameron Nisbet (Trivia OZ), Rhonda and Cameron provided a night full of fun, challenging questions and kept the atmosphere energetic the whole night. Our ever wonderful, Carinya Auxiliary donated a delicious supper to each table which was very well received.

Our night would certainly not have been as successful without the attendance of 99 participants, thank you for your attendance and support towards this fundraiser. We had a lot of fun and the banter between tables was certainly amusing, making the night one remember.

The trivia winners of the night were "Petty Vince and the Quizbreakers", each team member taking home a voucher kindly donated by The Austral Hotel.

We had an amazing response from local businesses and suppliers of Carinya, when the fundraising committee asked for donations to be auctioned off and given as prizes they did not hesitate, donating the most generous items that raised an amazing $4,300!

Terry Waycott was the lucky winner of our raffle, winning the kindly donated $500 Hartley Wells Betta Home Living voucher. Congratulations!

Another Improvement!

We are so pleased to let everyone know that the Wall Murals have now been completed on the East

Wing

(Proposed

Dementia

Support

Garden).

They

look

absolutely

fabulous

and

will

give

residents along that side something to admire rather than a bleak grey wall.

Hopefully, as our fundraising progresses we can complete this side of the facility with a beautiful garden to complement these murals.

Development Look at our old entrance!!

Things are changing and it is almost unrecognisable, all we know is that it is going to be amazing when it is finished.

Unfortunately due to trades, materials and the impacts of COVID it is looking to be finished in August rather than May.

It is the last leg of our build and we can not wait to welcome you all through the new entrance.

Retirement Village Leave it at the Race track We have had a few reports of vehicles driving at an unacceptable speed within Carinya Crescent and Farrell Drive.

Please remember and remind visitors and family that the speed limit throughout Carinya is 15KM, there have been reports of pedestrians almost being hit and this is not okay.

We really appreciate your help in making Carinya safe.

Parkland/Rotunda We know this seems to be going on forever and discussions have been happening for well over 12 months!

This is a huge project to coordinate and we have had to go back to the drawing board due to the costs, engineering and other matters.

Currently, we are obtaining quotes for paths, toilet, tree lopping, concrete and of course the rotunda. stay tuned for updates..
