Tofield detachment gets new commander Sgt. Lee Knelsen MOUSH JOHN Editor Sgt. Lee Knelsen was appointed as the new Detachment Commander of the Tofield RCMP Detachment effective Tuesday, Sept. 8. Arriving from the Lloydminster RCMP Detachment, Knelsen said he was happy to assume duties in this capacity, because it would give him a chance to work in a position of rural policing. “This is where I could bring the experience I have gained from many other unique and specialized sections of policing from detachments in “F” Division (Saskatchewan) and “K” Division (Alberta),” Knelsen explained. “I bring a strong background and experience in in General Duty policing, General Investigations Section (plain clothes) policing in Financial Crime, Serious Persons Crime, Property

just 30 minutes outside of Swift Current, Knelsen is familiar with rural crimes. “I know the pressures and challenges that the rural setting and environment creates and felt the stressors personally and on my family firsthand that victims of crime deal with when police were miles away,” he added. “I
am excited to take up this position at the Tofield Detachment where I can ensure continued delivery of a proactive policing approach, and promote inclusiveness of the community members and partners, located in both the urban and rural Beaver County. “I also look forward to
working with the mayors and council members of Tofield, Ryley, and Holden, on our current and future policing strategies and response, and ensure that we are meeting the needs and expectations of the many communities that the Tofield detachment serves.
