Ryley’s Hrabec family recognized for 100 years of farming MOUSH JOHN Editor Earlier this month, Ryley’s Hrabec family was awarded the Alberta Century Farm and Ranch Award by MLA Jackie Lovely, Beaver County Reeve Jim Kallal, and Beaver County councillor Gene Hrabec at the original homestead. “We have been farming for more than 100 years and four generations later still going strong,” said Helen Hrabec. “In today’s world of technology and uncertain weather conditions, keeping the family farm going is a challenge for sure and something we all have come to appreciate. In 1967, my parents retired to Holden, leaving me to continue farming the homestead. “My dad passed away on Nov. 24, 1974, and my mom ten years later, on Continued on Page 16
