Tofield’s Main Street was buzzing with activities on Friday, July 1, as communities came together to take part in Canada Day activities. The Tofield Community Hall hosted the pancake breakfast, as people came to enjoy an outdoor feast prepared by Town of Tofield staff and volunteers. Highlight of the day was the parade, led by

Tofield Legion members and bagpiper Chris Warren. The parade had a good number of entries with Northstars Football Club from Ardrossan being one of the newcomers this year, along with local hair salon, Braided Mane Hair and Co. All the floats were decorated and had candies and freezies for bystanders. Tofield Municipal Library won the ‘Favourite Parade

Entry’ prize (watch out for our story in July 13 edition). Both Legion and Fire Hall had long queues as residents and visitors lined up for barbecue and beverages, after the parade. With a vendor’s market and inflatables in the afternoon, and a free movie and 11 p.m. fireworks rounding off the festivities, Canada Day was memorable for Tofield. “It was really exciting to see all the residents

and families lining the streets for the parade and all the children eagerly waiting for treats being tossed, huge lines ups for the Fire Department BBQ and for birthday cake,” said Mayor Deb Dueck. “Lots of people participated in the various planned events, family gatherings, July 1 breakfast and the local music festival indicating that everyone is ready for events being resumed. “The Tofield commu-

Thank you to all the work by staff and volunteers, without them these events wouldn’t be possible. Thank you as well to all the groups, businesses, neighbouring municipalities and individuals that participated in the parade.” According to Dueck, events are a perfect opportunity to showcase

the community and town. Beaver County Reeve Kevin Smook said, “The breakfast at the Community Hall was well attended and it was impressive to see a huge number of people turn out to enjoy the parade. It’s always great to see the smiles on people’s faces. All in all it was a wonderful Canada Day in Tofield and Beaver County!” For more images, please turn to Page 9.
