Highway 14 Regional Water Services Commission upgrades Ryley facility MOUSH JOHN Editor
The Ryley water truck fill has finally got an upgrade, long overdue since 2001. Operated by the Highway 14 Regional Water Services Commission, there are six bulk water truck fills in Beaver County. “The Ryley truck fill was last upgraded in 2001 but has suffered some damage over the years and has required some enhancements to better serve its customers.,” said Brent Clark, Operations Director. “Rural water users in the Ryley area formed the Bathgate Water Co-op to investigate ways of improving the supply of water to local users.” According to Clark, the Commission has worked with the Bathgate Water
Co-op for several years to find a solution for enhancing water supply. “The most feasible option was to upgrade the Ryley truck fill,” he explained. The Bathgate Co-op was awarded funding from Beaver County that was provided to the County by Clean Harbors. Some of this funding has been designated to the upgrading of the truck fill. “Claystone Waste has also been interested in participating in this enhancement project,” Clark added. “Ultimately, it was agreed that there would be a three-way funding split between Beaver County/Bathgate Co-op; Claystone Waste; and Highway 14 Regional Water Services Commission.”

He further explained that the project required the closing of the truck fill for approximately three weeks to allow for the old structure to be removed and the new facility to be constructed. “All contractors in-
volved worked together to complete the project in a timely manner. The new facility has two filling bays, one for commercial vehicles and one for smaller, self-haulers. Vehicles can now fill quicker and both bays
