Tofield Grad Class of 2020 celebrated Moush John Tofield Mercury
It was a dream come true for the Tofield Grad Class of 2020 as they walked the stage and finally got their grad ceremony on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 15 at an outdoor event. Tofield and area residents celebrated the Grad Class of 2020 of 36 graduates at an outdoor ceremony this past Saturday, Aug. 15. This year’s grads included: Hailey Anderson, Aidan Beatson, Jayson Billard, Mason Canney, Ryan Daigle, Alex Derksen, Laura Didusenko, Sam Didusenko, Roman Didusenko, Kaylee Gorniak, Christian Guangco, Skylar Helman, Thomas Hoban, Shelby Hood, Austin Jennings, Jeremy Koloski, Kylie Kuflay, Colt Lawrence, Joe LysloLoranger, Sunnie MackRussell, Caitlyn McLaughlin, Lincoln Miskew, Italia Nagy, Cameron Neufeld, Riley Nordin, James Paul, Damien Saumer, Cameron Schoff, Nadia Schultz, Tyler Sekulich, Kolby Siemens, Sarah Spinks, Elizabeth Storvold, Joel Tiedemann, Dominik Whitford, and Ty Yoder. Mistress of Ceremonies was Ms. Melissa Korpan; and valedictorian was Hailey Anderson.
Principal Janice Muench kicked off the afternoon with greetings, reviewing the guidelines in place for the event, which included social distancing norms, and other protocols. This was followed by the playing of ‘O Canada’, after which there video messages from – Rita Marler, Superintendent of Battle River School Division (BRSD); Zsuzsuanna Hemperger, BRSD trustee; Mayor Deb Dueck; and Beaver County Reeve Jim Kallal. Valedictorian address by Hailey Anderson was next; while the Last Will & Testament Student CoChairs Lincoln Miskew and Cam Schoff delivered this year’s last will and testaments. There were also a host of tributes and ‘thank you’ messages usually delivered at the banquet, but since it was cancelled this year, all of them were presented at the event. The ceremony ended with all graduates in attendance receiving their diplomas, and the final hat throw, the special part of any graduation.
