Tofield resident wins grand prize Sara Koop wins Ag Society’s biggest fundraiser ‘Take a Year Off’ raffle MOUSH JOHN Editor
Tofield Ag Society’s biggest fundraiser so far has been the ‘Take A Year Off’ raffle, and there is a winner – Sara Koop. Born and raised in Tofield, Koop won the $52,000 grand prize, and is “beyond thrilled” to win. Recalling her first reaction, Koop said, “I was actually at work and could not answer my phone when it rang. When I got the chance I checked my voicemail, and to be honest I probably checked my voicemail about six times before I started to believe it!” Soon after, she phoned her parents to give them the new that she had won the grand prize. “After phoning the Town office and verifying everything, I had the hard task of trying to go back to work while still reeling over everything that had happened,” Koop said. “It really was exciting
and overwhelming.” It’s never too late to buy tickets, even until deadline, and that’s what Koop found out. What’s fascinating is she added, “I bought my ticket just before the deadline. I decided to get them because it was for a good cause; the arena is used for a lot of different events and a good facility that allows our little town to host and accommodate events and most of the winter sports.” Koop, who works as a receptionist at Edmonton’s CVS Controls Limited, said that one of her dreams is to travel. “When I bought the tickets I honestly did not have any thoughts about what I would do if I won because I did not think I even had a chance at winning any of the prizes, let alone the grand prize! But yes after winning, I guess there is great deal a person can do. I don't exactly know what I am going to do, but I would definitely like to put some of the money towards taking a

tions to Sara Koop for being the grand prize winner.” He added that the Society has received many generous donations from families, businesses, and groups, and expressed his gratitude to all those who came in person to the Town office and the Tofield Mercury to donate towards the floor project. “If you would like to donate towards this important project please
contact the Town of Tofield office. And stay tuned for another chance to win and announcements for upcoming events this summer. Thank you to everyone once again for helping us to raise funds toward the arena floor project.” The other winners are Zachary Hunt (Grande Prairie) – $5,000 Cash Prize; Wade Hunter (Stettler County) – $3,000 Cash Prize; Brad Chakra
(Tofield) – $2,000 Cash Prize; Michael Davies (Derwent) – $1,000 Cash Prize; Elmer Clark (Hairy Hill) – $1,000 Cash Prize; Steve Shelley (Willingdon) – $500 Cash Prize; and Loreen Holenko (Edmonton) – $500 Cash Prize.
