Killam RCMP Birds members lay a number of serious charges in September

Killam RCMP members dealt with 179 occurrences from Sept. 8 to Sept. 30, with eight of those cleared by criminal charges being laid. A 30-year-old Daysland man was charged with Assault. A 30-year-old female from Forestburg was charged with Assault with a Weapon. The woman was also arrested on multiple outstanding warrants. Killam RCMP members assisted Edmonton City Police with executing multiple outstanding warrants for a 68-year-old male from Beaver County. A 63-year-old male from Flagstaff County was given a warning about abusive behaviour towards other Flagstaff citizens in a disturbing the peace complaint. Jared Lizee, 35, has been charged with multiple Fail to Comply with Conditions, and Fail to Comply with Probation. He currently has a warrant for his arrest. Killam RCMP executed a search warrant on a business in Hardisty and arrested and charged a 40-yearold male with Fraud. Killam RCMP assisted Flagstaff County Peace Officers with a traffic stop where a 65-year-old male from Lougheed was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after providing two breath samples of 200 mg. (Legal limit is 80 mg). Members investigated a complaint of taking a motor vehicle without the consent of owner; however, the complainant declined to lay charges. In the last 11 days of September, RCMP members dealt with eight sudden deaths, ranging from natural causes to mental health. Cpl. Cleveland urges anyone seeking help to reach out to the Mental Health Help Line, which provides 24/7 support. It is a confidential, anonymous service with information about mental health programs and services, and referrals to other agencies if needed. The number is 1-877-303-2642 (toll free.) RCMP had three complaints of abandoned motor vehicles. Members were called to deal with animal complaints seven times, with one complaint of causing injury to animal. Police are investigating five break and enters to Flagstaff businesses, two break and enters to other property, and four break and enter complaints to residences. RCMP received three reports of failure to remain at the scene of a collision. Two reports of failure to attend Court were made to police in September. RCMP responded to nine false alarms. Members investigated one complaint under the Firearms Act. Two complaints were received under the COVID-19 health act. RCMP had one complaint under the Liquor Act. Members responded to four mental health calls, and performed six wellbeing checks. Two complaints of Mischief were made to police. Police gave out 16 tickets under the Traffic Safety Act, and had six complaints of impaired operation of a vehicle. RCMP had 15 suspicious persons or vehicles reported during this period.

Members attended to 23 collisions, nine theft of motor vehicle complaints, and one theft from a motor vehicle. Three complaints of theft under $5,000 were also reported. Two Trespass and two Trespass at Night complaints were made to RCMP. Three complaints of uttering threats and three complains of harassing communications were also made to Killam RMCP. Police are investigating four instances of possession of property obtained by crime. Alberta Traffic Safety have designated October as Pedestrian Safety Month.
