Small Business Week
Live Local Scavenger Hunt Each October, “Small Business Week” celebrates the entrepreneurs that contribute so much to our communities. With the continued stress of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has never been more important to highlight the resiliency, passion and hard work our local business owners have shown. They continue to persevere and keep themselves and our communities strong! Join us, as we celebrate small businesses across the Flagstaff Region with a "Live Local Scavenger Hunt". To play, follow these steps:
1) Read through the “Live Local Scavenger Hunt” poster on our website for all information; pick at least FIVE ideas/activities to support local. 2) Take a photo or selfie of a purchase you have made at a local small business within the Flagstaff Region. 3) Once at least five activities have been completed, use the link below to submit your entry. https://bit.ly/ScavengerHuntSubmissions 4) You will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a small business prize package. First place will receive $200 Flagstaff Bucks, and a Succeeding Together Heart & Hustle apparel item. Second place will receive a Succeeding Together Heart & Hustle apparel item.
This Live Local Scavenger Hunt will run from October 17 - 23, 2021. Submissions close October 24, 2021 at 12:00 a.m. The Winners will be announced October 25, 2021! Please be advised that Flagstaff County, (Hamlet of Galahad only), is proposing to increase the local franchise fee effective January 1, 2022. This fee is charged to ATCO Electric for the use of municipal lands for its power lines and is recovered from its customers that receive electric service in the Hamlet of Galahad. The local access fee will be increased from 8% to 9% on the delivery charges of ATCO Electric, excluding energy related riders. The effect of a 1% increase will be $1.14 per month to the average residential customer. Residents of the Hamlet of Galahad have until 4 pm on November 3, 2021 to make their concerns known, in writing, to: Flagstaff County Office, Attn: D.Szott, Public Works Superintendent Box 358, Sedgewick, AB T0B 4C0 Ph: (780) 384-4100

This fee is charged to FortisAlberta Inc. for the use of municipal lands for its power lines and is recovered from its customers that receive electric service in the Hamlet of Strome. The local access fee will be increased from 8% to 9% on the delivery charges of FortisAlberta Inc., excluding energy related riders. The effect of a 1% increase will be $0.98 per month to the average residential customer. This calculation is based on 640 kWh consumption in 30 days. Residents of the Hamlet of Strome have until 4 pm on November 3, 2021 to make their concerns known, in writing, to: Flagstaff County Office, Attn: D.Szott, Public Works Superintendent Box 358, Sedgewick, AB T0B 4C0 Ph: (780) 384-4100
