Cat Scratch Fever? Bruderheim family may move after note attached to friendly feline BY JANA SEMENIUK Bruderheim cat owner, Teena Weibel’s recent experience with cat haters has made her re-think her decision to move into the area. “We were so happy to move here just over a year ago. Now we are worried because we can’t believe how cruel people can be,” she said. Weibel and her partner moved to Bruderheim with their two cats, one

named Fred, as well as their two dogs. Fred likes to roam the neighbourhood while the other cat prefers to stay inside. “Our neighbours call him ‘Friendly Freddy’,” she said. “I let him out twice a day. He is so social he cries to go outside.” Weibel let Fred out on Oct. 8 as she usually does and he returned home an hour later with a note tied to his collar.

“The note said, ‘your cat returned home today. He might not next time. Be a responsible owner.’,” she said. Weibel felt horrified. “I couldn’t believe anyone would do that,” said Weibel. Weibel added that she doesn’t understand why people are against outdoor cats. Continued on Page 2
