RCMP overrun with pumpkins

RCMP dealing with spike in break-and-enters Corporal Trent Cleveland Acting C/O Killam RCMP Detachment

During the period from Oct. 15 to 30, Killam RCMP Detachment dealt with 108 occurrences from across the region. On Oct. 20, Killam RCMP assisted Tofield RCMP with locating an Impaired driver. The driver was located and arrested. Driver blew 90mg/100ml blood alcohol level. On Oct. 24, Killam RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision with injuries. Members arrived on scene and discovered that the driver was wanted on a number of outstanding warrants. A 41-year-old female was arrested and charged with; Assault on a Police Officer, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property obtained by Crime Over $5,000 and Drive while Unauthorized. There has been a spike in Break and Enter complaints throughout the region. Killam has had nine Break and Enter to businesses and four Break and Enter to residences. On Oct. 20 in rural Flagstaff County,

Killam RCMP received a report of a break and enter at the Forestburg Church. This occurred sometime between Oct. 15 and 20. The shed and church had multiple miscellaneous items taken from inside. The back door of the church had been kicked in. There are no witnesses or surveillance available. On Oct. 22, the Killam Twice Nice Store was broken into overnight. Video surveillance shows one female loading items out by the boxful. On Oct. 23 in Killam a Break and Enter was reported at the Killam Town Office. On Oct. 24 in Forestburg a Break and Enter was reported at the Forestburg Fas Gas. Their Alarm company advised at 03:39 a.m. the front door was smashed, and two persons gained entry and attempted to steal an ATM. Damages were caused to the machine. Alarm sounded and they took off, however cameras outside the building were spray painted. Inside surveillance footage is being reviewed by RCMP. On Oct. 26 in Forestburg a Break and

Flagstaff Remembrance Day Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Legion Remembrance Day ceremonies across the area have been affected. In Killam, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 65 will be holding an outdoor ceremony at the cenotaph starting at 10:50 a.m. In Sedgewick, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch

No. 55 will be holding an outdoor ceremony at the cenotaph at 10:45 a.m. In Alliance, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 94 will be holding a brief outdoor ceremony at the cenotaph at 10:45 a.m. In Daysland, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 82 will not be holding a ceremony this year.

The C.J. Kinross Royal Canadian Legion Branch in Lougheed will be holding a march from the Legion to the Cenotaph starting at 10:45 a.m. with a brief service, weather permitting. The Hardisty Royal Canadian Legion No. 88 is planning a modified outdoor service at 10:45 a.m. at the cenotaph.

The Canadian Legion is encouraging those who can’t attend a service in person to watch the National Ceremony on Television or Facebook Live and participate in the Two Minutes of Silence from home.
