ATV recovered by RCMP near Daysland

Killam RCMP recently released information on an incident that took place on March 8 on Highway 36. On March 8 at around 4 p.m. Coronation RCMP received complaint of a U-HAUL truck stuck in a field. Occupants of the vehicle, a male and a female, damaged the owner’s property. The vehicle was determined to be stolen and the occupants were associated to a call of pointing a firearm the previous day. The male suspect fled from area. The female was arrested without incident, Pamela LaFontaine (37years-old) from Edmonton, was charged with: Sec. 430(3) CC- Mischief - Damage to Property over $5,000; and -Sec. 355(a) CC - Possession of Property Obtained by Crime LaFontaine was released on an Undertaking for Court in Coronation on April 9. Killam RCMP Members were dispatched to assist Coronation RCMP in locating the male suspect. Police Dog Services (PDS) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) were also contacted to assist in apprehension of the male

who possibly had a firearm. The male was located by ERT and PDS and was arrested without incident. Jason Anderson (39years-old), from Rocky Mountain House was charged with: -Sec. 430(3) CC- Mischief - Damage to Property over $5000 Sec. 355(a) CC - Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Sec. 56.1 CC – Illegal Possession / Trafficking in Government Documents Sec. 403(1)(d) CC – Fraudulently Personate to Avoid Arrest; and Sec. 129(a) CC – Resist/Obstruct a Peace Officer. Anderson was held for a Bail Hearing and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear in Court in Coronation on April 9. In another more recent incident, Killam RCMP recovered an ATV on March 21 around 11 p.m. on Highway 855 south near Daysland. The ATV has been repainted and had no license plate on it. The ATV is currently in RCMP possession and the owner is unknown. If you are the owner of this ATV, please call the Killam Detachment at 780-385-3509.

Proud parents David and Charlynn Dammann, along with big brother Ayden, dropped by The Community Press office where baby Wyatt (born Jan. 23, 2020) was pronounced the winner of the Babies of 2020 promotion. The draw was made from all the 2020 baby entries published in the March 17 edition of The Community Press. The Dammanns make their home near Killam. Wyatt and his family won a $50 gift certificate from Coutts Home Hardware in Forestburg, as well as a two-year subscription to The Community Press.

STARS 3 landed near an accident scene on Highway 13 near Hardisty on Friday, March 19 when a semitractor rolled. The driver had to be extricated and flown to hospital. See full story Page 9.
