For Killam RCMP Detachment members June started off with a bang, with 99 calls for service from June 1 to 14. Members laid the following criminal charges during this period. A 51-year-old male from Flagstaff County was charged with Assault x 2 and Assault with a weapon. Eight Break and Enters that occurred throughout the county are still under investigation by Killam RCMP. A 54-year-old male from Brooks was charged with two counts of failure to comply with a release order. RCMP also made the following arrests in the Killam Detachment area during this period: A 32-year-old male from Viking was stopped and charged with Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, driving without insurance, two counts of failure to comply with conditions, and two counts of failure to comply with a release order. A 43-year-old male from Bruce was charged with Possession of stolen property, failing to comply with a Release Order and Driving while unauthorized. A 34-year-old male from Sherwood
Park was charged with resisting arrest and failure to comply with a release order. A 32-year-old male from Viking charged with Theft of truck. Killam and Viking Detachments work together to support one another, and Corporal Trent Cleveland, Acting Commander in Killam, is now also Acting Commander for the Viking Detachment. Following a lengthy joint investigation with Leduc RCMP and Viking RCMP, a male was arrested on nine charges relating to break and enter, possession of stolen property, and mischief. On May 26, Viking RCMP received a report of a break and enter at the Viking Golf Course that occurred at 3:20 a.m. A golf cart and clubs were stolen. Upon review of video surveillance, two suspects, along with a truck and trailer were observed. This information was shared with the Leduc Crime Reduction Unit who immediately started investigating the incident and links to Leduc area. On June 18 the Leduc RCMP Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on 46 Street in Leduc. A search of the house and out buildings resulted in the recovery of stolen property. Some of the items police seized included a dirt bike, trailer, golf cart, and golf clubs.
Leduc RCMP recovered a dirt bike that may have been stolen from the Viking area during an arrest related to a break in at the Viking Golf Club and are asking for the public’s assistance to return it to its rightful owner.
Police have been unable to determine the owner of the dirt bike and are seeking the public’s assistance to return the dirt bike to its rightful owner. Jason Peter Emter (45) of Leduc was arrested and charged with nine offences including: Break and entering with intent; Possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking x 2; Possession of break-in instruments; Possession of property obtained by crime x 2; Mischief; and Failure to comply with release order x 2. He was held for a judicial hearing and has been remanded into custody to appear in court in Viking on July 6 and
in Leduc on July 9. “Property Crime and Crime Reduction remains a priority to the Leduc and Viking RCMP Detachments and its community members. “We encourage the reporting of suspicious activity which can lead to successful investigations such as this” says Sgt.
