Summer Sizzles
Lamont Ag. Society hosts fantastic weekend at Conrad Schinkinger Memorial Grounds just south of town KERRY ANDERSON The Lamont Agricultural Society held its always popular Summer Sizzler at the Conrad Schinkinger Memorial Grounds just a km south of town on Highway 831 over the weekend. The Sizzling weekend activities are always highlighted by the top notch rodeo put on by the Ag. Society and it ran Friday and Saturday and was very well attended as usual. But there is always something for everyone, beginning with a Sizzling hot pancake breakfast Saturday morning and also bench shows both Friday and Saturday. Despite the rain Friday night, everyone enjoyed the wonderful weather all weekend with temperatures that were warm and pleasant, not hot and uncomfortable, and guests were able to enjoy one another’s company at the Sizzler Outdoor Beer Gardens all weekend long. Webb’s Sizzling Combine Krunch began on Saturday evening, with the finals taking place on Sunday afternoon followed by the Battle of the Brands truck vs truck pulling competition. Spectators also enjoyed shopping local venders in the Market Place on Saturday. But of course, not to be outdone were the children participating in the Little Sizzler Kids Rodeo on Sunday. Parents, family, friends and many other fans watched the little tikes participate in the cutest events of the whole weekend. Overall, the Ag. Society did it again. The 2016 Summer Sizzler was just excellent from beginning to end. See our centre pages for all the fun and excitement over the Sizzler weekend.
