Obsidian Ridge, a wedding venue located on the west end of Beaver County, held their second annual Winter Wonderland from Saturday, Dec. 27 to New Year’s Eve on Wednesday, Dec. 31. “We had more people come out than last year, and we also added a new skating area that is bigger and allows more advanced skaters to go faster,” Obsidian Ridge CEO and founder Layson LaFayette said. There were extra places to get refreshments and LaFayette said they had additional entertainment and music. When asked if the Winter Wonderland is set to becoming a recurring event in the future, LaFayette said they will have to look at whether they will host the event next year. “This was our second annual. We will need to assess if we will be able to continue the event in the future, and in order to do so we will need more volunteers and sponsors,” he said. Those who attended had the opportunity to participate in ice skating, experience live music, fire dancing, acrobatics, and circus arts performances, wander through a holiday market, go sledding, roast marshmallows, ride the polar express, and stroll through the many light displays. “We host this event to bring people together during the holidays with outdoor activities and festivities that are family friendly,” LaFayette said.
