Thank you to all who came out to Killam this past weekend. What a joy to see the whole town get into the Christmas spirit! Parade of lights, movies at the living room, Santa pictures, cookie decorating, and so much more! Then Saturday the craft fair and charity checkstop were both well attended! It was fun to see so many faces! It was a good weekend for the Flagstaff Food Bank. The pet pictures with Santa and their helpers brought in $281
($66 from Teala’s dog treats at Rogue Coffee) and 330 pounds of dog food, cat food, and pet treats. Thank you to Tammy from Bark In Style Barber and her crew of happy Santa helpers. Also thanks to Flagstaff Victim Services and the Charity Check Stop for 346.77 pounds of food. Thank you to everyone who is helping feed Flagstaff. Well done, Killam! I had the privilege to be part of a special birthday celebration. Anjuli Sutter celebrated her 40th birthday and, since she got so sick last December that she ended up in intensive care, it was extra special to celebrate her, her recovery, and the amazing person she is.
Her party took us back to the 1920s at “Sipping Pretty” right outside Killam. If you haven't been, I highly recommend it. And even if you don't drink wine, I can attest their mocktails are super delicious! It was a super fun event, all of us dressing up in flapper style and enjoying wine, mocktails, and food together while catching up and learning about wine. Thank you to Heather Chevraux and her team for a fantastic evening! The Iron Creek Flying Club is excited to announce plans for an official fly in at the Killam-Sedgewick Airport in the upcoming year! What are some of the things that make a “fly in” desirable to at-
tend? Swag bags, fuel discounts, breakfast, or lunch? Static displays or giveaways? An aerobatic display? Let the club know and they will get the wheels turning! This coming weekend, Saturday, Dec. 10, you have the chance to support young entrepreneurs at the youth market at the Hive in Sedgewick. They will have food, drinks, sewing, knitting, wax melts, and bracelets. A good variety and excellent opportunity to showcase the talents of our local youth. The Sedgewick Farmers Bonspiel is slated for Dec. 12 to Dec. 15. Join the fun or come out and cheer on your favourite curlers. It's back! Sparkle in the
Park is making a comeback for its fourth year. The next two weekends in December you can experience the Candy Cane Lane of Flagstaff County. Many local businesses and individuals have spent hours decorating campsites or cabins out at
Sedgewick Lake Park for you to enjoy a walk or drive through. Admission is by donation to the Flagstaff Food Bank. You can go around as many times as you wish during opening hours. Thank you to all who contribute to this sparkly event!

Ultimate frisbee competition dedicated to remember Korey Bernard Leslie Cholowsky Editor
Korey Bernard was a key figure in the Calgary Ultimate (CU) community, and as news of his passing became known, that community decided to honour his memory by renaming their annual Christmas fundraising
tournament, to the “Reindeer vs Elves Tournament to Remember Korey Bernard.” Mike Pederson, Juniors coordinator for the CU frisbee community had this to say, “Korey and Cynthia Bernard, and their three children Hadyn, Hannah, and Abbigail, have been staples
of the Calgary Juniors Ultimate program for the last decade. The Bernards have a reputation of always being the first to arrive at practice (and often the last to leave), of taking part in each and every opportunity to play frisbee, and of always bringing their passion and
Spirit to the field. “Indeed, the first thing coaches would see when they arrived at the field would be Korey and the kids throwing bombs, waiting for everyone else to arrive. “It would be easy just to look at Korey as a dedicated parent, but he never seemed motivated
merely by duty. What drove him was the joy of seeing his children thrive, and taking in their successes and failures alike with pride. “In recent years, Korey was able to watch all three kids compete at the Canadian Ultimate Championships and he was also able to play with
them in CU league. “Our program is grateful to have had Korey’s involvement for all of these years - his kindness, sense of humour, and consistent support will be greatly missed.” Korey was raised in Sedgewick, the eldest child of Brian and Hennie Bernard.
