Ryley School’s annual Christmas concert this year, a production entitled Whobilation, Ryley’s version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas adapted and directed by teacher Karen Arychuk, was performed twice on Thursday, Dec. 11. All students were involved, whether through undertaking character roles, performing musical numbers, or running sound and lights. “I couldn't be prouder of the hard work and dedication that has gone into making Whoville come alive right here on our stage,” Principal Maria Schaade said. “This holiday
season, let’s remember to pause, look up from the noise, and appreciate the people around us, the sense of belonging, just like the Whos found when their presents were gone, which is the most valuable gift we could give and receive.” Mercedes Freeman led the audience in the singing of the national anthem before the production began. The Grinch was played by Brycen Hofer, and the younger version, Little Grinch, was played by Liam Venables. Jack Padron-Ogonoski was the Narrator. performance. Dannieka Hofer played Little Max the Dog. Emmie Kischook was the Mayor and Sasha McKinney played the Mayor’s Assistant. Elise Boettger had the role of the Teacher, and Mercedes Freeman and Saige Vanstone were the Grinch’s aunts, Murtle and Ethel Who.
