Irma Santa Day fun for all Patricia Harcourt Editor
Irma Santa Day last Saturday was a fun time for all who attended as there was something for everyone to enjoy. People love a cozy fire and many came to enjoy the ambience of the open bonfire on the parking lot on the west side of the school. There were plenty of hot dogs and hot chocolate served over the lunch hour by the U15 Girls’ hockey team. Horse and wagon rides around the village were held between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. sponsored by the Irma Ag Society. The wagon made stops at both the community bonfire and in front of the fire station to pick up and drop off riders. Then the excitement ramped up as wagon rides with Santa were held in the afternoon. at the Irma School. Children could meet Santa, have their picture taken and receive a candy bag made by Irma 4-H. In the meantime, Irma Fish and Game held a hugely popular turkey shoot at the firehall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. And hungry festivity goers could take in the luncheon at the Drop In Centre hosted by Sharon Lutheran auxiliary. The Christmas Market was held all day at the Irma School gymnasium and was full of magical items for sale to eager holiday shoppers. And sports fans could walk across the street to a busy Irma Arena to take in all day minor hockey games. Many businesses and community groups helped put on this popular event marking the Christmas holidays in Irma and District. There were also free draws in local businesses to enjoy.
The community of Irma held a highly successful Irma Santa Day with plenty of festive events for all to enjoy last Saturday including bonfires, minor hockey, Christmas market, luncheons, turkey shoot and more. PATRICIA HARCOURT PHOTOS
