Viking Grads finally get their ceremony The Viking School Graduating Class of 2020 held a beautiful 7 p.m. ceremony last Friday night, Aug. 14, with 200 guests in attendance at their outdoor venue. This year saw 26 grads celebrate with family and friends on this special occasion. They are shown here in a group photo on the stage after the Processional. Patricia Harcourt Editor There were 26 members of the Viking School graduating class of 2020 marking a major milestone in their lives as they move on to a new chapter in their lives. This year’s grads included: Sam Brooke, Dawson Currie, Joe Roulston, Erik Anderson, Kelton McClements, Kyle Harray, Tyler Watts, Axel Erickson, Mitchell Moody, Joshua Ropchan, Jordan Crawford, Brooklyn Buttner, Catelyn Kolenosky, Kelly Rauser, Amanda Petruk, Lyndy Nauenburg, Cheyenne Goodine, Braydon Grisdale, Willow Kynoch, Frances Cantal, Kennedy Labreche, Kaitlin Haeberle, Emma Russnak, Jaime Paterson, Jessica Brandt and Sadie Mizera In an outdoor ceremony on Friday, Aug. 14, the grads shared this special moment dressed in their finery and gathering together with 200 family and friends eager to help them celebrate. Mistress of Ceremonies Mrs. Jeanette Andrashewski welcomed everyone and told those in attendance what each grad’s future plans were making their way to the stage during the Processional. Jessica Brandt gave the Grad Class President’s Message thanking the parents

and wishing everyone well on their future life’s journey. School officials brought greetings including a message from Superintendent of Schools Rita Marler, which was read by Sadie Mizera, and an in-person greeting from Beaver County East trustee Lyle Albrecht. Principal Adam Madsen provided his speech which was also read by Sadie Mizera, a message that congratulated the grads on behalf of Viking School. Memorable Moments offered amusing accounts of the grads during their school years for their family and friends to enjoy. Dawson Currie and Joe Roulston read Part 1, followed by Samuel Brooke and Joe Roulston (Part 2), and Samual Brooke and Dawson Currie (Part 3). And Kyle Harray and Tyler Watts read out amusing personal predictions for the grads’ futures entitled, “Most Likely To…” Grad Emma Russnak delivered the Valedictory Address, followed by “Wishes for the Journey” by Mrs. Andrashewski. The grad class were then presented their diplomas. The Recessional was topped off with roses for family from the grads in their touching “Forever Grateful” segment. A

dance then took place during the post ceremony phase of the celebrations. Graduation ceremonies in Viking are normally held in May or early June every year, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the graduation went off in

fine form in August instead and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely despite the delay. Due to attendance restrictions, The Weekly Review was not invited to cover the ceremonies. Photos are provided by Dreamlight Photography.
