Double Honours For Dhaman Kissoon! Dhaman Kissoon, the well known, ever popular Guyanese-Canadian Barrister, Solicitor and Philanthropist recently received two highly prestigious Awards. On Saturday June 8, Dhaman Kissoon was Knighted - Chevalier de France in a ceremony at Trafalgar Castle by the Commander of the Chevalier from Avignon France. Chevalier de France is the oldest order of Knighthood that protected the route to the Holyland from Europe in the 1100’s. They were the guards of the seven 12th Century Popes during the period when the papacy was temporarily relocated from Rome to Avignon France. Later that week Kissoon was also honoured in recognition of his “Service Above Self,” by Brampton’s Flower City Centennial Rotary Club at its 12th Annual Gala. The Gala was held on Thursday July 13, at the luxurious Mississauga Grand Banquet Hall. There were well over 300 guests in attendance at the Gala to witness Kissoon receive his prestigious Award. In introducing Kissoon as the Gala’s Honoured Award Recipient, Dr. Aubrey Zidenberg noted that Dhaman has been a member of the Brampton Flower City Rotary Club since 2005 and is a two term Past President. He has also served as Co-Chair since 2005 of the Advocates for Etobicoke Youth, which helps over 1,000 underprivileged and troubled youth every year; He has been a Member since 2002 of the IndoCanadian Chamber of Commerce. In that same year he started a golf tournament which has since raised well over $500,000, a large portion of it going to the Sick Kids Hospital and to countless other worthy organizations. Needless to say, the list of additional Awards and Recognitions he has received throughout his illustrious career is overly impressive. Dhaman has now joined a very impressive group of prior recipients of the Brampton Rotary award: Member of Parliament Tony Clement, Former MP Ruby Dhalia, Developer Iggy Kaniff RioCan CEO Eddy Sonshine, Retired Peel Police Chief Mike Metcalf, Former Toronto Maple Leaf Star goalie Johnny Bower, Former Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion and His fellow Guyanese-Canadian Humber River Hospital Chief of Staff, Dr. Narendra Singh.

Even More Oil Found!

GEORGETOWN, Exxon Mobil Corporation has announced that it has discovered additional oil in the Payara reservoir offshore Guyana, increasing the total Payara discovery to approximately 500 million oil-equivalent barrels. These positive well results increase the estimated gross recoverable resource for the Stabroek Block to between 2.25 billion oil-equivalent barrels and 2.75 billion oil-equivalent barrels. The well was successfully drilled by ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited and encountered 59 feet (18 meters) of high-quality, oil-bearing sandstone in the Payara field. It was safely drilled to 19,068 feet (5,812 meters) in approximately 7,000 feet (2,135 meters) of water. The well is only 12 miles (20 kilometers) northwest of the recently funded Liza phase 1 project on the Stabroek Block, which is approximately 130 miles offshore Guyana. “Payara-2 confirms the second giant field discovered in Guyana,” said Steve Greenlee, president of ExxonMobil Exploration Company. “Payara, Liza and the adjacent satellite discoveries at Snoek and Liza Deep will provide the foundation for world class oil developments and deliver substantial benefits to Guyana. We are committed to continue to evaluate the full potential of the Stabroek Block.” The Stabroek Block is 6.6 million acres (26,800 square kilometers). Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Limited is operator and holds 45 percent interest in the Stabroek Block. Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd. holds 30 percent interest and CNOOC Nexen Petroleum Guyana Limited holds 25 percent interest.
