CEM: WHERE ARE YOU FROM ORIGINALLY? Kingston, Jamaica CEM: WHAT IS YOUR NATIONALITIES REPRESENTED IN YOUR BUSINESS? Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Belize, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Grenada... Pretty much the whole English-speaking Caribbean. CEM: WHERE DID THIS IDEA STEM FROM? My Mother! I had studied classical ballet from the time I was small and knew that dance would always be a part of my life. My dream was to be a ballerina, but my body did not match that of a ballerina. I began to seek out other styles of dance (Jazz/Contemporary) and eventually found my way back to my Caribbean roots learning Haitian Folk, Katherine Dunham technique, and dancing with the West Indian Folk Dance Company in Chicago. CEM: HOW DOES THIS MOVEMENT CONNECT WITH YOUR PERSONAL LIFE? Trinidad is one of the most diverse and culturally amazing countries in the world. I am blessed to have had an upbringing, which exposed me to artists like the Mighty Sparrow and The Merrymen as a child. Our history, culture, and diversity as Caribbean people is amplified through our arts... It is a culture that is very unique and must be celebrated. Caribbean dance has given me freedom and acceptance of my body that I never had with classical ballet. I hope to empower women of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds to find that level of acceptance through dance. This is basically the reasoning behind the creation of BodyWuK Fitness. CEM: HOW DO TWERKING & WHINING COUNT? Again, dance employs all of the muscle groups simultaneously. When combined with specific fitness exercises, the workout will burn upwards of 800-1000 calories in one hour.

I’

ve been hit with an epidemic, not just any epidemic like flu or

malaria; I mean some other epidemic called uncertainty of articulating marriage. Marriage is not what I alone question but, everyone does. Do you want to be married or you just like the idea of marriage? Or is marriage for everybody? These are particular questions I’ve asked when doing my many research and interviews and can I tell you, the answers were very intriguing. What does the term marriage means as quoted from dictionary.com:

The legal or religious ceremony that formalizes the decision of two people to live as a married couple including the accompanying social festivities: to officiate at a marriage. Synonyms: nuptials, marriage ceremony, and wedding. Antonyms: divorce, annulment. In a nutshell, prior to getting married there is always a compatibility test, before taking this supposing extra mile. Categories couples should evaluate their relationship with are: work, home, relationships history, sex, health, appearance, parenthood, extended family, friends, pets, politics, community, charity, military, the law, media, religion, culture, leisure, holiday and birthdays, travel and vacation education, transportation, communication, meal time, gender role, race, ethnicity differences and living everyday. Don’t be fool to think a marriage is built solely on “love, communication, finance and sex”

The concept of marriage and what it stands for is making us as individual bluntly reevaluate of choices; when you suddenly realize the dedication and commitment to one person. For the most part, most people like the idea of marriage but, the question is would they per say do it? I personally like the idea of a ceremony, call me crazy I’m not ready for what marriage life has to offer in the near future. Is it that every relationship has goal or an expiration date? In all honesty, most people relationship we admired is what we presume as “picture perfect”; sorry to burst your bubble but there is no such thing as perfect. The perfection that we presume will distort and discourages us from marriage, just so you know. I would say I admire the marriage of my grandparents but is it ok… for my grandfather to have two other children outside of marriage? Is it that my grandmother knew no better and was only stuck in the cycle of him being her only man or it’s now easily accepted because of countless infidelity? Couples of Hollywood have no substance in my eyes; all I do personally is anticipating their divorce and the time period in which it ended. Then again let’s face it people married for various reasons apart from the values of what it stands for: migration, contact, arranged marriage etc. Look at this aspect common law marriage and ceremonial marriage. What common law marriage means though, is living and sharing household responsibilities for more than five years and hence the couple is entitle to assets after separating; a law pass by Jamaican government. This is pretty much marriage without doing a ceremony. Why common law marriage? A few men feel as though they won’t love their female any greater having a ceremony and worst-case scenario spending tons of money they don’t have or don’t need to spend. Is it the case where the male have become comfortable and not want to participate in what he is ought to do and step up to the plate and take his female hands in marriage? Given the scenario of a couple living together with the intension of getting married in the future, the female wants to be married at age 28, the guy is uncertain of what age but he wants to be married. Oh! bear in mind the couple is age 24 and 25. Years gone by the female now 32 male now 33, a child now involved. The man is now comfortable in the state of his relationship of “common law marriage” and in his case, a ceremony is out of the question; the female still do desire to be married and still awaiting. Is it:

Should she engage to him and he would be force to joining her in a ceremony. Should she step away from it all, and seek marriage elsewhere? Should she stick to the evil she knows and remains in the relationship?

If A is the case, would the male accept her proposal or would he implement that if she initiate the marriage she should pay for it. People might find this as a very controversial topic why? Because as most people believe in tradition, where the man gets on one knee and does the proposal; while some is for traditional changes. Females of today’s society are taking the step to impose marriage but, is it a bad thing or something to make controversial? In all honesty I don’t think it should be. Don’t get me wrong, but I beg to differ. This is so because men are afraid of rejections but a mean if he and his female companion are on the same page why would she reject though? Guys need to be more practical in their choice of word too much excuses isn’t good enough. What I do believe is the marriage keeps us grounded as we grow older in terms of values. Marriage helps to foster family values and as such obnoxious behavior of either partner would now be done discretely due to respect and representation. At one point in life, every female wanted to be married. Every female wants to be honoured publicly and have ‘thee’ perfect wedding. Funny enough the idea of marriage has now changed. In doing my research I found it very interesting that female of today’s society doesn’t want to be married but only likes the idea of weddings. they think men doesn’t value marriage and hence don’t trust them in essence the infidelity rate of these men make it hard for females to put marriage in place or to even be hopeful. The other reaction is that one man can’t satisfy or give her everything she needs. Do females want to be referred to as baby mother, fiancé, or wife of? Today it does matter I guess. Happiness is what counts. Maturity doesn’t facilitates waste of time things or pointless doings because interest is now lost. Ok, what do I take from this term is that after having tons load of sex, multiple partner, being adventurous, partying your ass off, in a

The Capital – Bangkok Starting in Bangkok, I'll be the first to admit it is the one city in the world where I feel like twenty-one again every time I visit. Bangkok infuses a certain level of energy into you from the minute you arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport which makes you want to forego sleep and just eat, drink, party, shop and sightsee your way through. And why not? From the amazing yet ever changing night scene, vibrant districts like Khao San and Silom, culinary delights from deliciously cheap street food to

Northern Thailand Leaving the busyness of Bangkok behind, a quick flight take you to cooler Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, the gateway to a multitude of other activities in Northern Thailand. Picturesque paddy fields, multiple mountain ranges bordering Myanmar and Laos, beautiful Buddhist temples tended by orangerobed monks, elephant nature parks and hill tribes selling handicrafts are just a sample of nature’s beauty that characterizes Northern Thailand.

I have been over ten times and with each visit I discover a new Thailand, one that has me hooked and coming back for more. Buttery Soft Pretzels with Smoked Gouda and Red Onion Pancetta Fondue Yields 10 Pretzels

Ingredients •1

1/2 cups warm (110 to 115 degrees F) water • 1 tablespoon sugar • 2 teaspoons kosher salt • 1 package active dry yeast • 22 ounces all-purpose flour, approximately 4 1/2 cups • 4 ounces unsalted butter, melted • Vegetable oil, for pan • 10 cups water • 2/3 cup baking soda • 1 large egg yolk beaten with 1 tablespoon water • Pretzel salt

Pretzel Procedure Combine the water, sugar and kosher salt in the bowl of a stand mixer and sprinkle the yeast on top. Allow to sit for 5 minutes or until the mixture begins to foam. Add the flour and butter and, using the dough hook attachment, mix on low speed until well combined. Change to medium speed and knead until the dough is smooth and pulls away.

Liquid Smoke • Add water if Fondue Becomes to tight • Sautee Red Onions and set aside • Place Sliced Pancetta on Sheet Pan, Set oven to Broil, until crispy, crumble and set aside • Pour Heavy cream into the pot and turn on the burner. • Let the heavy cream warm up to a boil (Don't let it Boil Rapidly) • Reduce heat and add the shredded cheese. • With a wooden spoon, mix well and stir regularly. • Add remaining ingredients (red onion and pancetta) to the pot. • Add cayenne pepper to taste. • If the mixture becomes too hard add water. If the mixture is too soft, add more cheese.

Dip Pretzels in Cheese and Enjoy! Let the freshly dipped pieces cool off for a few seconds, then enjoy and repeat but no double dipping!

Foodie Tip: If you ask your guests to make a figure 8 while dipping, this will ensure that the cheese mixture gets constantly stirred

Chilled Shrimp Cocktail with A Bloody Marie Sauce

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice 1 tablespoon Sliced Scallions 1/4 tablespoon dried Oregano 1/2 Ole Bay seasoning 1/4 teaspoon brandy 1 pound shelled and deveined cooked large shrimp 7. 1 cup shredded iceberg lettuce 8. 1 Hass avocado thinly Sliced 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

In a large bowl mix together lemon juice, sliced scallions, Ole Bay seasoning, Oregano and brandy when well mixed pour over shrimp toss to coat. Make a bed of the shredded Iceberg lettuce in a small rounded glass. Top with the shrimp cocktail and arrange the avocado alongside.

Bloody Marie Sauce 1.5 oz. Vodka · 2.5 oz. tomato juice · 1 Tablespoon of Ketchup · 1 teaspoon of Sriracha Hot Sauce · 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce · 1/2 teaspoon lemon Juice · 1/4 granulated garlic powdered

Mix all Ingredients in a Bowl when finished pour into a Chilled Glass garnish with a Celery Heart, cucumber slices and Stuffed Olives on a toothpick. Serve with Shrimp. Enjoy!

Deconstructed Rum Cake

Pound Cake Procedure 1-pound butter, softened 3 cups sugar 6 large eggs 4 cups all-purpose flour 3/4-cup milk 1 teaspoon almond extract

Deconstructed Rum Cake.......... Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. (The butter will become a lighter yellow color; this is an important step, as the job of the mixer is to incorporate air into the butter so the cake will rise. It will take 1 to 7 minutes, depending on the power of your mixer.) Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed until light and fluffy. (Again, the times will vary, and butter will turn to a fluffy white.) Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating just until yellow yolk disappears. Sift Flour then Add flour to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Beat at low speed just until blended after each addition. (The batter should be smooth and bits of flour should be well incorporated; to rid batter of lumps, stir gently with a rubber spatula.) Stir in extracts. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. (Use vegetable oil to grease the pan, make sure the pan is fully dusted so the cake easily slides out when cooled) Bake at 300° for 1 hour and 40 minutes or until a long wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from pan, and cool completely on a wire rack. Once cooled place on parchment paper using a tooth pick poke tiny holes throughout the cake.. Pour Spiced rum

Rum Cream Procedure

2 1/4 cups whole milk

•

6 large egg yolks

•

2/3 cup sugar

•

1/3 cup cornstarch

•

3 Tbsp. chocolate syrup

•

2 Tbsp. fresh brewed coffee

•

1 Tbsp. Vanilla Extract

•

1 Tbsp. Coconut Extract 22

In medium bowl, whisk together 1/2-cup milk, egg yolks, 1/3-cup sugar, and cornstarch. Transfer remaining 1 3/4 cups milk to heavy medium saucepan. Add Vanilla , and Coconut extract. Sprinkle remaining 1/3-cup sugar over, letting sugar sink undisturbed to bottom. Set pan over moderate heat and bring to simmer without stirring. Whisk hot milk mixture, then gradually whisk into egg yolk mixture. Return to saucepan over moderate heat and cook, whisking constantly, until pastry cream simmers and thickens, about 1 minute. Remove from heat, and whisk cream until smooth. Add Chocolate Syrup, Rum, and Coffee whisk and Transfer to bowl cover with plastic wrap pressed directly onto surface. Chill until cold, about 4 hours. (Pastry cream can be made ahead and refrigerated, wrapped well with plastic wrap on surface, up to 3 days.)

1 Cup Heavy cream 1 tablespoon granulated sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Procedure For Whip Cream •

Chill bowl of a stand mixer and the whisk attachment in the freezer for 10 minutes. Add all of the ingredients to the bowl and whisk on high speed until medium peaks form, about 1 minute. (Alternatively, you can use a hand whisk and a large chilled bowl. Whisk all of the ingredients until medium peaks form, about 2 to 3 minutes.)

Seasonal Fruits Kiwi, Blackberries, Blueberries, and Raspberries are usually found year round in your local markets so it best to use them Fill the Bottom of the glass with the Rum Cream Take your Rum Cake and Cut into cubes placing it on top of the rum cream Add Fruit on one side of the Glass Add a dollop of the whip cream (you can pipe it in if you have a pastry bag Available) on top Finish with Fresh Mint for a Touch of Class Enjoy!

Guyanese Garlic Pork Nouvelle with Cilantro Pesto 4lbs Pork Chops Bone In 1 small onion, chopped 1 bunch thyme 4 heads of Garlic cloves 1 scotch bonnet pepper, cut in

Place all ingredients in a non-reactive container by layering ingredients. Place a layer of thyme followed by garlic then the pork on top, repeat until all ingredients are used ending with a layer of thyme and garlic. Pour salt and vinegar into container and place pepper on top, making sure it’s submerged for 5 hours After pork has marinated for 5 hours pour all ingredients in a strainer. Remove pork and discard all ingredients. Pat meat dry, season with Salt & Pepper. In a pan with 2 tbsp. of Olive oil over a medium heat, sear pork for 5 minutes per side or Until Golden Brown. Finish by placing in a 350F degree heated oven until pork has finished and has cooked to an internal temperature of 150F degrees..

Serve with your Favorite Bread and Enjoy

Cilantro Pesto 1/2 Bunch of washed cilantro stems included 1 Garlic Clove 1 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar 1 teaspoon of Lime Juice 1-teaspoon honey 1-cup olive oil Add all ingredients in Blender except for Olive Oil Turn blender to medium speed slowly drizzle in Olive Oil once all ingredients have emulsified transfer to a bowl. Season with salt and Pepper to taste. Serve with Garlic pork as an accoutrement..

Champagne Cocktails

Total Time: 10 Min Prep: 10 Min Yield: 2 Drinks

Directions Combine 2 ounces each orange juice and raspberry liqueur (such as Chambord) in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake well. Strain into 2 flute and top with sparkling rose. Garnish with raspberries.

Never forget where you come from, it is the foundation of who you are. You do not know about your history; you do not know yourself. You do not give back to your community; you take from yourself. NORMAN SMITH got that concept completely when he decided to form one of the most-respected Jamaican outreach charities known around the world -- TRENCHTOWN PROJECT. Norman left Trenchtown (a township located in KINGSTON, JAMAICA) at a young age but never forgot the roots that made him the successful businessman and retired Command Sergeant Major that he is today. Highly world travelled and college educated SMITH correlated a board of elite members that also shared the same compassion and goodwill towards their beloved Trench town; Gradle Wallace (Executive Sectary and Web designer), Herman Thompson (Project Manager), Eric Campbell (Treasurer) alongside Roy Campbell, Damian Campbell, Eric Campbell and Maydine Issacs. The Trenchown project is divided into 4 different components to enhance the lifestyle and upbringing of the children and less fortunate of the Jamaican Trenchtown area. Education: Trenchtown project provides aid to not only students, but parents as well. Re-enforcement of a child’s success and progress is ultimately up the parent who is there to keep it fresh in the household. Along with work ethic, education, as we know, is extremely important. For the parents and young to mid-age adults is also a focus point of the organization to create not only a mouth piece for the youth to listen to; but an example to follow as well. But back to the ‘youths dem’ ….

Trenchtown project also provides mentoring programs, as well as, homework and tutoring assistance. The project goal is to provide funding for a homework enter and to get the attention for notarized citizens of the area (including the Rotary club) to serve as mentors to each assigned child, keeping up with the theme; “Many people working Together as One”. Jamaica without a doubt has been proved to raise and produce young people who have the ability to not only compete in world-class sports; but also leave their competition in the dust. So, why is it that when funds are tight Arts & Sports are the first thing that gets cut out of a schools’ curriculum? Another vow to enhance the lives of those in TRENCHTOWN is to fill the void of financial stress from such existing institutions. 2015 looks like it’s going to be an innovative and life changing year for the residents of the township, as The Trenchtown project fearlessly and productively bears the burdens of their hometown on their capable shoulders.

In this issues’ BEAUTY IN THE BACCANHAL, Dancer, Motivational speaker, blogger, host and all- around woman of greatness; KERRY ANN WRIGHT. This Jamaica West Indies born & Toronto, Canada bred QUEEN is a forced to be reckoned with and has massive plans and accurate goals to take over the world with her inspirational motivating messages, immense beauty and genuine passion for people. Kerry, or as she calls herself Miss Kerr, who originally started her road to stardom and purpose by dancing. STARLISA: HOW DOES DANCING MAKE YOU FEEL? WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FORM AND WHY? KAW: Dancing for me is an escape! I love dancing because I love to entertain and transform. One thing I love about dancing is that the person people see on stage is so different than who they see in everyday life. People often don't even recognize me on the street after seeing me dance it’s pretty cool actually. My favorite dance form is Afro-Caribbean because it's a part of my background. I studied Afro-Caribbean since I was 16 years old in both Jamaica and Canada and I love everything Caribbean so it's only natural that the dance form comes to easily to me. STARLISA: ALTHOUGH YOU ARE KNOWN FOR A DANCER, YOU HAVE AUDTIONED FOR HOST POSITIONS SUCH AS: CARIBBEAN VIBERATIONS, What coaxed this decision for you to even apply, take us behind the idea of your super cute and original tape and what makes you KNOW that you would be a perfect candidate for a position such as HOST? KAW: I've realized that although I do LOVE dancing, it's not my ultimate passion. My ultimate passion is people. I love to engage and entertain people, so being a TV/event host was a natural transition for me. I've always had very strong leadership qualities ever since elementary school and being on stage is my happy place. Combine the two and you have my purpose! When it comes to my audition tape, I really wasn't sure what they were expecting or looking for specifically, so I just decided to do what I do best and that’s ME! Haha! I love photography, videography and editing etc. so I thought of things that make up who I am and how I can incorporate more 'Kerr' into my audition. The 'Wonder Woman theme & Transformation' just made the most sense as I'm literally a chameleon and I often do things to make people wonder. A common phrase heard when talking to or about me is 'I don't know how do you do it?' or 'Is there anything you CANT do?!'

STARLISA: ONE OF MY FAVORITE BLOGS FROM YOU IS "STOP WAITING FOR THE PERFECT MOMENT AND CREATE IT" describe what led you to this conclusion and give those of us (as I slowly raise my hand) advice on how to do so, who are guilty of it?

KAW: I realized one day that I hadn't been using the control over my life that I always really had. I got caught up in the 'rat race' of building someone else's dream, entirely forgetting of my own. In doing so, I became stagnant and even though I was always 'busy' I wasn't really progressing to where I wanted to be. Then the bad habits of playing 'victim' started forming where I started blaming my circumstances for not reaching my goals. It really was just a loop of ignorance... It wasn't until I started surrounding myself with successful people, reading personal development books and taking a good, long, hard look at myself that I realized how much power I really had within myself. I had the power to create the ideal situation for my life that I had always dreamed of and I didn't even need to know HOW it was going to happen, I just needed to be certain of WHY I wanted my life to look a certain way. One of my favorite sayings is 'The deeper the WHY the easier the HOW'. For anyone out there who feels helpless or like they have no control over their life, I would suggest getting a mentor and/or locking arms with someone who lives how you want to live, or embodies the kind of person you want to be. As with anything in life if you want to be really good at it you have to study it... Personal development is no different. I always struggled with being positively because I considered myself such a 'realistic' person. Then I started hanging around with truly positive and carefree thinkers and realized just how much stress I had been causing myself for no reason. Life truly changed once I made the decision that I wanted more and I was going to get it regardless of anything. That decision alone was my perfect moment that I created myself

Described as a ‘normal childhood’ (by The beauty, herself) she migrated to Canada from Jamaica at age 3, and was CAREFREE Kerry until age 11 when her whole life changed and was forced to grown up faster than any little girl should after the tragedy of her father passing away and slew of tragic events that followed. Of course, her family took the death hard, her brother barely spoke and her mother went into a severe depression, which made Kerry step up and really be the ‘Head of Household’, so from young needless to say, a topic that all of us deal with and suffer fromdeath, She is all too familiar with not only the experience of being left behind, but having to pick up the pieces and carry on.

STARLISA: When 'MIJN OMA' (My grandmother in DUTCH) died, it was the most devastating time in my life and also initiated a series of world wind tragedies. I recently, lost a great aunt of mine who I was close to, one of her younger sister, another huge loss for me. You have a similar string of losses, your dad and also, your great aunt. When such heart-wrenching events occur, what has brought you through and inspired you to go on and achieve peace and success KAW: Having a strong support system is the most important thing when getting through tough life experiences. What most people don't realize though, is that support system might not necessarily be found in other people. Not everyone has a lot of people to lean on, so that is why it's so important that we learn to find the strength and support necessary to carry on from within. It's really not that difficult once you know how, but it all begins with a decision; a clear, concise and definite decision to be something. You have to have the desire to be happy. Once you decide that you will be happy you've already set the plans into motion for the universe to deliver to you what you need to make it happen, but it all starts with you. TFAR - Thoughts, Feelings, Actions, Results... Thoughts turn into feelings, which turn into action which gets your results... and the determining factor of whether or not those results are good or bad are the quality of your thoughts STARLISA: The aftermath of the Wright family tragedy came back together for a while until the now ‘Rock of Gibraltar’ (Kerry Ann) had her turn of misfortune. KAW: Even though I had just gotten laid off from my job, 3 days later I was introduced to my affiliate marketing business, Vemma and I never looked back. It was the very best decision I have made in life to date and that one decision started a snowball effect of positive change and progression in my life. Who would have thought a little girl from the "Fishing Village" would go from catching octopus for fun to WORLD NOTED and respected Caribbean muse? SHE DID. Felisha LORD practically came out the womb as this unstoppable force of talent. At age 2, she started dancing everywhere her little feet took her. At age 7, she traded her dancing shoes for BOOKS but, not in the way you think. Young Lord took books and put them on her head in hopes of starting an incomparable local modeling career. AND THAT SHE DID. Encouraged and supported by her mentor, Hilary Beckford (Mother of Jamaican-American model/actor, Tyson Beckford) that immediately struck a new passion for Felisha. She took the ultimate leap of FAITH and started the new chapter of her young adult life in CALIFORNIA at New York Film Academy (NYFA) for three years to be classically trained in – acting. Work wise; she was a self-proclaimed ‘different kind of monster’ as she withstood the challenges of not only booking jobs (mostly because of her heavy accent) but also being a Caribbean girl in a whole new unfamiliar world. After she came, saw and conquered in need of reconnecting with her culture and finding a new LOUD in her life, she returned home. Originally, what was supposed to be a near two-month respite became almost a four-year stay-cation to her native of; Jamaica. She not only by booking the top modeling and acting jobs on the island but her sense of style and invincible attitude had onlookers wondering “Who is that girl?” Yet, something was still missing. "I started to feel this strange feeling everywhere I went", proclaims a now 32- year old reminiscing on her 28- year old self. Even though she was highly paid and recognized from her career endeavors(including being the international face of OCEAN SPRAY) ; those motherly instincts started to pull on her heart strings, as she started to pray for this void to be filled. She prayed for a little girl who she would name Africa and she hoped that she would be a little girl who would be her “forever friend”. How to Apply Flawless Makeup

Every woman wants to look young, fresh, perfect. And for this you use makeup on your skin for enhancement of your beauty. Makeup is something that not only gives you perfect look but also explores your feature. But this can be done only and if you did it in suitable manner. If you apply one of your makeups in imperfectly your whole look will be ruined by this mistake. It`s not essential that the product of good company will definitely gives the perfect look but it depends on how you used it and how you apply it according to your features. Here are some guidelines that must be followed for a flawless look.

1. Cover the imperfections: First of all before starting to your make up you need to notice if you have some imperfections on your face or not like puffiness of eyes, dark circles under your eyes, or any element of cleanser. If you noticed one of these imperfections first go for it and try some home remedy for it. Clean your skin: First of all clean or skin before starting your make up. Trace the element of cleanser and removed it with toner. Cover the dark circles and eye puffiness: If you have some dark circles then apply some anti circles cream under your eyes to lighten the darkened circles. For the puffiness first wash your face especially eyes with cold water. If it doesn`t work then go for the next one which is put some slice of potato on your eyes and puffiness will be disappear.

2. Apply Primer: Before starting your foundation apply primer on your skin this will lasts your make up for long time. It`s a barrier between your cosmetic and your skin. The oil of your skin will not cause your make up faded. 3. Concealers: Before applying foundation it`s very important to use something for your blemishes. The concealer is the best choice this will hide your blemishes and will gives you smooth skin with fresh looks. Concealers are used because they have high concentration of pigments. There are different types of cancellers you can use according to your need: 1. Best under eye concealer 2. Best concealer for dark circles 3. Full coverage foundation 4. Foundation: Foundation can be sprayed on or brushed on. Sometimes both can be used. The foundation can be a combination of too many colors. But be sure that the first layer of foundation you sprayed on your face should be your skin matched. Then you can have a layer of another color nearer to your skin tone. Now the most important part of foundation application is placement. Blend your foundation very well. So that it looks natural not like a mask one thing to remember is be aware of the tidemarks at the jaw line. 5. Powdering: After applying foundation use some light loose powder with a big brush. It should be matched with your skin tone otherwise it will go out of your skin. That looks so add. 6. Blushing Beauty: Now it`s time to enhance the facial beauty by blushing up the beautiful features. First choose the darker shade than your skin tone and apply it on the contour portions of your face like nose, cheekbones and so on. And blend it perfectly for natural looks.

This is the story of many growing up in America who was fortunate enough to experience being born in the USA; however, also have a lot of time in their parents’/grandparents’ home islands. So much of their everyday lives, careers and characters illustrate the eccentric Caribbean upbringing and influence where they are now. This goes especially for our hair feature of the month ‘MISS HAIR AND HUMOR’, who has taken her extreme passion for her gorgeous full natural locks that cannot even compare to her SUGAR AND SPICE, larger than life personality into one of the HOTTEST blogs on the net! Born and bred in Brooklyn, New York City; while bleeding Red, White & Black this DAHLIN will have you wanting to either go natural immediately, watch a comedy flick, or book a ticket to Trinidad or Brooklyn! CEM: WHICH ISLAND DO YOU REPRESENT? HH: I represent TRINIDAD!!! CEM: WHERE ARE YOU FROM? HH: Although I love to represent my parents’ homeland, Trinidad, I am a first generation American. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. CEM: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HAIR STYLE TO SEE ON OTHER PEOPLE? HH: I love to see hair on other people that make them confident! There is nothing like a good hairstyle to complete a look. I love variety of hairstyles. As long as your hair compliments your style, it’s a win. CEM: WHAT MAKES YOU STAY NATURAL? HAVE YOU EVER HAD A PERM? HH: I had a perm for a brief moment in time during my high school days. Back then; “wet” looking hair was IT! I blame Mary J. Blige and Brooklyn public schools for that. It was all about keeping hair tame and in place. No one had big frizzy hair like mine so I didn’t want hair like me; I wanted hair like my peers. It wasn’t until the wave of “wash and sets” took over the salons in Brooklyn that I realized my hair could be extremely straight without a perm to tame the frizz. Those frequent trips to the salon got too expensive to maintain so I simply stopped going. I truly embraced my big hair for what it was after college. The beautiful mess on my head has become my signature look since the early 2000’s, way before YouTube channels, hair crushes and the boom of the natural hair movement. CEM: THAT WOULD BE YOUR ADVICE TO A WOMAN TRYING TO GO NATURAL FROM A PERM? HH: The best advice I can give to a woman trying to go natural from a perm is to first have a moment alone and make up their mind to LOVE the hair that grows out of their head no matter what!!!! Too often I hear ladies comparing their hair to a “hair crush” or wanting a certain curl pattern or texture and its simply ridiculous. You can’t want someone else’s “natural” hair. You have to love yourself enough to love what is growing out of your scalp. Get out there, do hands on product research, go to events, get free goodie bags and do not be afraid to PLAY in your hair. Very often I have conversations with ladies who want to go natural but ask ME about my routine. How is that going to help YOU? The way I learned about my hair was by playing in it and trial and error and everyone should do the same.

CEM: WHAT'S THE MOST ANNOYING THING ABOUT HAVING NATURAL HAIR? HH: You mean besides getting caught in tree branches? I would have to say the most annoying thing has to be buying products! Besides being expensive there is nothing like thinking you have enough product to do your hair before you go out and realizing you have to do the upside down bang-‐it-‐on-‐the-‐wall trick to get the last bit of conditioner or take the old semi-‐dried up leave in treatment from the cap of the container because you forgot to re-‐up. *sigh* CEM: HUMOR IS IMPORTANT TO ME BECAUSE ______________________ HH: Humor is healing!! We all laugh in the same language and I do not underestimate the power of being in a good mood and sharing and a good laugh. Especially the jokes that end with “Girl, me too!!” CEM: THE FUNNIEST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD THAT I CAN SHARE WOULD BE HH: When I tried to make a DIY conditioner. So there I was, at home thinking I can do what everyone else seemed to be doing and that was to make my own hair treatment. I quickly skimmed the instructions from a website and thought, maaaaaan, I can DO that! I got the three ingredients and put it in a bowl. I think it was something like two different kinds of oils, mayonnaise and two eggs. I don’t recall. Anyway, because I “knew” it was so simple, I put everything in a bowl and mixed it doing the little “I got this!” dance. Then I remembered I saw something about warming it to make it like a hot oil treatment. So, I put the mixture in the microwave for about 15 seconds. When I took it out….the eggs were partially cooked. Oops. Eggs + oil + heat = omelet. When I went back to the website to see what I did wrong it said very clearly “Warm oil and add to hair separately.” What did I do? Put it in my hair anyway. Needless to say the egg chunks didn’t really sit in my hair BUT, my hair was soft after 30 minutes. So there! I win. CEM: HAIR AND HUMOR REPRESENTS ME BECAUSE HH: It is the two things that I am mostly known for. Big hair and a big sense of humor. Ms. Hair and Humor was born out of a need to step out of my comfort zone because I used to be a lot more reserved with my personality in spite of my big hair. Once I created Ms. Hair and Humor it was also like telling myself, it was ok to be a little more open, to stand out and let people into my world.

CEM: THE BEST PART OF MY BLOG IS...... HH: That it’s ok to LAUGH!! Yes, even at yourself! I feel like so many women take themselves too seriously. Too many of us are walking around angry and picking apart each other not realizing that we are more alike than different. I do believe there is a time and place for everything and although not everything is a laughing matter, there are so many other serious issues in this world of great importance and injustices that I personally think when it comes to our hair, which is one of our greatest accessories as women, we should be having FUN! We should be comparing funny stories and how we in fact, mess up! I try techniques and styles do it all wrong. Heck, my DIY treatment was way off and I still put it in my hair then posted about it. If we don’t have patience with ourselves and learn to laugh with ourselves during our “journey”, how else can we feel compassion for others? We are all flawed (and a little goofy) and Ms. Hair and Humor blog says, hey, no one is perfect so stop pretending to be. Be unfiltered! CEM: YOU ARE TAKEN! WHAT DOES HE LOVE MORE ABOUT YOU THE BEAUTIFUL BIG HAIR OR YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR. HA! Well according to him, I am not funny. But I know that’s a lie because I always make him laugh… even when he is in a funk. (I win!!) I think it’s a balance of both honestly. BUT, if I had to have to choose, I would say I think he loves my hair more. He has a very versatile style and one of the things he says is when I change my hair it’s like he is with a different woman. (Hmmm, then again, I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing!! Lol) He enjoys when I do different looks and switch it up. From Brooklyn street to city sleek and from a fitted to a ‘fro, hair keeps things interesting. CEM: WHAT DO YOU LOVE THE MOST ABOUT TRINIDAD? HH: In one word: CARNIVAL!!! Naturally! Everything about Trinidad that I love comes together under the Carnival umbrella. The weather, the people, the food and the music, carnival is a beautiful display of culture, tradition and color. It’s not surprising that there is also something very liberating about carnival…particularly for woman. Although people may disagree on what it has become, I still personally believe that in no other time do I see women accepting themselves flaws and all which goes back to my personal belief and the underlying message of Ms. Hair and Humor. “Free up yuhself!” let yourself “BE”, LAUGH and celebrate LIFE!!! Flaws and all …. They say home is where the heart is and because my parents raised me connected to my culture, I always say, these Brooklyn veins pump Trini blood! I’za Trini!

Then the beat drops and you're caught up in that "W est Indian Jungle", a track off of Bunji Garlin 's newest album , Different ology. This song is only one of the many examp les of why B unji Garlin is known as the Lyrics King. Garlin (born Ian Anthon y Alvarez) was raised in Arima, one of Trin idad's larger town s and n ow Trinidadian soca has it s largest global star in t he m akin g.

Growing up, Bunji was influenced by all different kinds of music. The list includes calypso, drum-and-bass, house, Latin, pop, reggae, soca, techno and zouk. If it was on American Top 40, a big part of Trinidad and Tobago culture at that time, he was listening to it. Eventually, dancehall would surpass AT40 and become his favorite genre. Then he would put his own spin on it by blending it with soca, creating what was known as ragga soca. In 1998 after he made a name for himself performing at small venues and local events, he released his first professional recording "Send Dem Riddim Crazy", which is still a classic today. Although ragga soca would not last past the mid-2000s, Bunji's rise would continue as he ascended to mainstream popularity, and award-winning status. Winning Trinidad's Soca Monarch competition time and time again has made Bunji Garlin soca royalty. Now though, he is enjoying major crossover success due to his 2012 hit smash “Differentology”. The breakthrough track has appeared at sporting events all over to global EDM festivals and even has played on the hit ABC series Grey’s Anatomy. The minor cords, flamenco guitar and hand claps in the song build a sort of tension that is only released when Bunji belts out the chorus, “WE READY FOR DI ROAD!” Even when hearing it for the fiftieth time, there is hardly anyone who can stop himself or herself from throwing their hands in the air and singing along. The song has won the Soul Train Award for Best International Performance and has tied with Korean rapper G-Dragon’s “Crooked” for United States-based channel MTV 2013 IGGY Song of the Year Award. Usually a Soca artist with as much success as Bunji has had refuses to settle down, but just like his music he has chosen to be a little bit different. Her father, Soca legend, “Superblue”, introduced Bunji to Soca artist Fay-Ann Lyons in 2004. They wed in December 2006 and have one daughter, Syri. He and his wife are commonly called the super couple of soca and constantly referred to as the Jay-Z and Beyoncé of the Caribbean. Fay-Ann is known for hits like “Catch Me” and “Done D Party”. She is also the youngest solo artist, still actively recording, with multiple wins of the Carnival Road March crown. In fact, Bunji actually placed second in the International Soca Monarch in 2009 with “Clear De Road” because his pregnant wife placed first with “Meet Super Blue”. The two of them together are the definition of a musical power couple.

Garlin has collaborated with his wife on tunes like “Call Me” and Three Colours”. He has also collaborated with many other artists such as Iwer George, Patrice Roberts, Denise Belfon, Machel Montano, Shammi, Shurwayne Winchester, Onika Bostick, Ronnie McIntosh, Kerwin DuBois, Rita Jones, Asap Ferg, Bounty Killer, Prophet Benjamin and Super Blue. The musician, producer, songwriter has an energy unlike most and his lyrical prowess is shown in his ability to switch up his own songs for a specific time and place or simply perform a freestyle at the drop of a Trini steel pan. His biggest hit of 2014 is “Truck on D Road” integrating Garlin’s soca sound and that of EDM. The album, Differentology, is one of his best to date but don’t be surprised to hear that sentiment when his next album drops. The Lyrical King has no plans of slowing down and his ceiling is higher than ever.
