1. What first drew you to Caribbean dance, and how did you begin your career as a dancer?

What drew me to Caribbean dance is my Caribbean background my parents are from the island of Trinidad and Jamaica. Music and dance have been a big part of my life. My love of dance allows me to make a career out of it, travel worldwide while teaching dance and performing. My social media grew rapidly from posting my videos dancing due to the fact I was a trailblazer having workshops in different countries and states teaching people our culture and allowing people who are of Caribbean dissent to embrace their culture.

2. Your dance style incorporates elements of various Caribbean traditions. Can you tell us more about the different styles you draw inspiration from, and how you integrate them into your choreography? What I do is deeper than dance, I incorporate different traditions whether it’s Afro or Caribbean I represent for all the island girls across the world. Many of my moves come naturally being that this is my God-given talent.

3. You have performed with many notable Caribbean musicians and artists. Can you share some of your favorite collaborations, and what makes a successful dance-music partnership in your opinion? My most memorable performance was with Machel Montano being that he is the king of Soca and he seen the talent in me to be a performer and be a part of an amazing production, fast wine star girl of the video. What makes a successful dance music partnership in my opinion is people loving what they do and executing greatness in the words of Kaz “It’s a feeling I can’t control it’s in my waist I want to wave I want to wine low”

4. Many talented Caribbean artists and creatives are often overlooked by mainstream award shows. Do you think a dedicated Caribbean awards show could help to level the playing field and provide more visibility and recognition and how do you see this impacting the broader entertainment industry? So happy you asked I definitely do think a dedicated Caribbean award show it’s needed a lot of creatives artist dancers do so much and affect the lives of others in such a positive way through music through dance being rewarded will be beautiful.

5. As a dancer, how do you keep yourself motivated and inspired to continue learning and growing in your craft? As a dancer how I keep myself motivated and inspired is knowing that there’s a young girl out there that’s just like me who loves to dance but is too shy to pose or has people family in her ear saying you should be a doctor you should be a nurse so that inspires me to go hard and also like I said before it’s deeper than dance this is my God-given talent to help the lives of others, to express, to have that hour in my class to release any bad feelings any negative thoughts and feel their self with love. An hour to feel sexy, feel amazing and tone up their bodies.

6. In addition to performing, you also teach Caribbean dance to students of all ages. What do you hope to impart to your students through your teaching, and how do you approach creating a positive and inclusive learning environment? It comes naturally I’ve been doing this for years. I pray that God allows me to help everyone in the class not only through dance but just allowing them to know that they can follow their dreams and really achieve higher goals and make an environment very comfortable to embrace your body your mind and your soul. I have a thing after class we hug ourselves and say I love me self-love is everything!
