The rules of first impressions One, it only takes one tenth of a second to make a good first impression. Two, always bring water within two minutes of seating someone. Three, the 10:5 rule states that when a guest is 10 feet away you should smile and make eye contact, when you are within 5 feet of someone you should greet them with a friendly hello.
