Welcome to Carey It is not always easy settling in to a new school or moving away from your family and friends but Carey’s staff and students will always be happy to help you. This booklet contains important information about the school’s expectations, your classes and academic opportunities. It also contains a lot of information that will be useful in your daily life at Carey such as what uniform to wear, which books to buy and who will be able to answer all of your questions. Use this booklet as a starting point, but don’t be afraid to ask questions – other students, your mentor and your Head of House will be very valuable sources of information.
General Information CRICOS Registration Carey Baptist Grammar School Limited CRICOS #00135G ESOS Framework The Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000, or ESOS Act, establishes legislative requirements and standards for the quality assurance of education and training institutions offering courses to international students who are in Australia on a student visa. ESOS also provides tuition fee protection for international students. The Australian Government website has more information on the ESOS Framework.
International Students Orientation Handbook
Tuition and Non Tuition Fees Full details of our fees are outlined in the Enrolment Agreement – International Students available on the School website. This includes Tuition and Non-Tuition fees and any cancellation and refund policies. The School’s fees are reviewed annually and there is potential for fees to change over the duration of the course. Location, Facilities, Equipment and Learning Resources Our campus at 349 Barkers Road, Kew, is located in the leafy eastern suburbs of Melbourne, just 8 kilometres from the CBD. Each School Section has its own dedicated buildings and play areas, with easy access to common facilities that bring our community together. To support the learning program, Carey is committed to providing inspiring buildings and resources. Carey’s Senior School building, the Centre for Learning and Innovation, is developed on principles of contemporary education and the latest pedagogical thinking and understanding. At the heart of the building is the Information Resource Centre which, in addition to housing our extensive catalogue, offers a variety of spaces that cater for the different needs of our students. On the top of this building sits the United Nations Room which reflects Carey’s diversity, inclusivity and commitment to social justice, thus preparing our students for the rapidly changing local, national and international communities in which they live, work and serve. Our libraries offer extensive services and
resources and include an International Students Guide which provides a comprehensive selection of information and services available for international students at our Carey Libraries, Public Libraries and the State Library Victoria. Course Content, Qualification and Duration Students study either the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB) or Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). The IB is a two (2) year program. The VCE is usually completed over two (2) years, subject to meeting criteria. Some Carey students include a VCE subject whilst in Year 10. Holiday Breaks Each year of study is one calendar year. Term breaks are as follows: •
End Term 1 – 2 week break
•
End Term 2 – 3 week break
•
End Term 3 – 2 week break

End Term 4 - 6 week break
and an English Language assessment. International Students are required to undertake a listening exercise, a written exercise, a reading comprehension exercise and an interview to determine whether the student will be able to access the curriculum and succeed in mainstream classes. For more information, refer to our ‘English Proficiency Policy - International Students’ English Language and Study Assistance Programs Language assistance for international students pre-enrolment at Carey is via external language schools. The preferred language schools for Carey are: Avalon College, Hawthorn Language School, and Melbourne Language College (MLC)/now known as Acknowledge Education.
Please see the website for current term dates.
Once international students commence at Carey they have access to EAL (English as an additional language) classes. This class is undertaken in replacement for the standard English subject.
Modes of Study
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Delivery of subjects at Carey is predominantly classroom based. Carey may approve an international student enrolling in a subject with an ‘approved’ external provider (including via online or distance learning) if the subject is not taught at Carey. In any given year students may not study more than two subjects (and no more than one-third of their subjects in any given year) with an external provider. In a student’s final year of study for their course they may undertake a single subject with an external provider (including via online or distance learning). In this situation the subject may constitute more than a third of the subjects studied in their final year. Qualifications and English Language Requirements All classes at Carey, with the exception of additional language classes are conducted in English. International students for whom English is an additional language are required to demonstrate they meet a level of English language proficiency sufficient to allow them to access our curriculum. As a minimum, overseas students must complete, a Middle School Certificate (Year 9 or equivalent),
Students studying the VCE may be eligible for recognition of prior learning (RPL) if they have completed study at a level equivalent to Units 1-2 of the VCE at an interstate or overseas school. An Application for Credit Towards the VCE form must be completed by the student and school, accompanied with appropriate proof of prior learning and submitted to the VCAA for review/ confirmation. Applications can only be submitted to the VCAA once a student has been enrolled as VCE student. A copy of the application form is available here. Detail of the process and summary of common overseas equivalent study is available here. Third Party Providers Where appropriate Carey enters into education agreements with third party providers. Carey will pay up to $1500.00 per annum towards the enrolment cost for a student to study a subject with an external provider (if the subject is studied in lieu of studying a subject at Carey: but not if the subject is in addition to studying a full program at Carey). Current external providers include the Victorian School of Languages and Inner Melbourne Vet Cluster.

School Holidays and Overseas Travel Your parent is required to complete a travel plan prior to the end of each term and email this to our Home Stay Co-ordinator. It is a requirement of your student visa that you attend each school term in its entirety. Before flights are booked please check the term dates on Careylink. At the end of Term 4, there is a compulsory transition program for the following year. It is vital that you attend all of your transition classes, as you will be given important course information, start your class work and be given homework to complete over the holidays. Cost of Living in Australia
Being an International Student Energy and Water Conservation Energy conservation including water usage is a very important part of life in Australia. Your Homestay host will provide guidance around using electricity and water responsibility. Health Cover Students who enter Australia on a student visa 500 must be covered by an overseas health care provider. For those students who don’t have overseas health care, Carey can arrange this for the duration of the student’s visa at the student’s cost. Carey’s preferred provider is BUPA (see bupa.com.au). For more information, contact the Admissions Office at Carey. Visa Assistance You must ensure that your visa is kept up to date, with a minimum of six months validity. This also applies with your passport. For assistance regarding visas, please contact the Carey Admissions Office or the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) www.immi.homeaffairs.gov.au. Attendance Requirements You must satisfy attendance and course requirements and may not be absent from School without written permission from a parent. Please note that Department of Immigration and Border Protection ( DHA) regulations require you to attend a minimum of 80% of classes and achieve satisfactory results in your course. Carey requires all students to attend all classes, House sessions and assemblies. Attendance rolls are marked in each class.

To help understand more about everyday costs in Australia, visit Study in Australia and Study Melbourne which are government websites with detailed information for international students. Working in a Part-time Job in Australia Australian workplace laws provide basic protection and entitlements for all workers in Australia, including workers from overseas. International students have the same entitlements to minimum wages and conditions as Australian workers, as well as superannuation and workers’ compensation under Australian workplace laws. During term time students are restricted to work 40 hours per fortnight to ensure their focus remains on their studies (during school holidays there are no limitations). If you plan to work in a paid part-time job in Australia, you will need to get a tax file number from the Australian Government. This can be done online at www.ato.gov.au. Please contact our career advisors for advice or email Trevor Black trevor.black@carey.com.au If you would like to know more about employment rights, conditions and how to resolve workplace issues, you can contact the Fair Work Ombudsman fairworkhelp.com.au or 1300 721 460 Adjusting to Life and Study in Melbourne Please refer to the Carey Life in Melbourne booklet. Legal Services Please refer to Legal Aid for any general legal advice (services are available in multiple languages).
Critical Incidents In the instance of an incident occurring which impacts the wellbeing of an overseas student, the student should seek assistance from their Mentor and the Deputy Head of Senior School – Student Wellbeing. Support will be provided to the student and the incident will be recorded. Emergency Services In case of an emergency dial 000 for fire, ambulance or police services, or from a mobile dial either 000 or 112 anywhere in Australia. These are free calls. Student Safety Information The School provides a limited support service after hours to assist with any urgent events or difficulties. Please refer the Student Safety Information for key information and numbers included at the end of this document. Local Support Person As an international student who is studying at Carey on a CAAW letter (this means that you are not living in Australia with a parent or Department approved relative), you are required to have a Local Support Person who assists you for the duration of your studies at Carey. They must be approved by Carey and be able to communicate with the School in English. Our preferred provider can appoint a Local Support Person: International Student Advocates (03) 9663 2887 www.studentguardians.com info@studentguardians.com Please contact the Carey Admissions Office if you have any questions.
Carey has documented policies and processes in place to approve the accommodation, welfare and support of overseas students who are attending Carey on a CAAW letter. Prior to approving Home Stay accommodation, we conduct a site visit and interview with anyone who would like to be a Home Stay Host. This allows us to decide whether the person and home would be appropriate for our Carey students. We also regularly visit and monitor our Home Stay hosts to make sure that they are meeting the needs of our overseas students. Our Home Stay families are expected to speak English to provide immersion in the English language and the opportunity for each of our students to develop fluency. All our Home Stay families are conveniently located, ensuring an easy commute to and from school. Upon moving to your Home Stay, the quality of your experience is supported by complying with the expectations outlined within your Home Stay agreement. Our Home Stay Co-ordinator will go through this document with you and your Home Stay host, as well as visit all students on 500 visas formally and informally throughout your stay.
Starting a New Year at Carey Subject Choices Once your enrolment has been confirmed and prior to your commencement at Carey, you will be issued with a login and password so that you can indicate your preferences for subject selection. Subject choices for your first year at Carey are made prior to commencement. If, when you arrive, you are having difficulty with any of your subjects
Accommodation If you need any help with accommodation please contact Carey’s Home Stay Co-ordinator, Carol Liu, on carol.liu@carey.com.au or (03) 9816 1466 or 0450 029 961. Carey requires all students to live in accommodation approved by the School. You are not permitted to live on your own even if you are 18 years or over and must live in an approved home stay or with family while you are studying here. The School requires that Carey’s Home Stay Co-ordinator visits and approves any home stay before you can move in.

speak with your mentor first and then to the VCE or IB Co-ordinator. If you decide to change a subject you must speak to your mentor and parent/legal guardian/Local Support Person first – they will all need to approve any changes. Once you have discussed your plans, collect a subject change form from Senior School reception. Books and Stationery Once your subjects are confirmed, you can access the list for books and stationery appropriate to your study program through CareyLink. Please buy all of the items on this list for your subjects. You can buy these directly from Carey’s stationery and text book supplier: Campion Education 632 Mitcham Road, Mitcham (03) 9872 8888 campion.com.au If you purchase your books online, you may choose to have them delivered to the School for you to collect when you arrive at the start of Term 1. Carey also holds a Book Exchange in December each year where you may be able to buy some of your books second hand from other Carey students. It is important that you have an A4 folder/binder and an A4 notebook for each of your subjects. It will also be very helpful if you are able to buy your ESL (Year 10 and VCE) or Language B English (IB) books early and start reading them before you come back to Australia each year. School Intranet (CareyLink) Access You will need access to the Carey intranet careylink.com.au both at School and from home as many important messages about School and your classes will be posted here. All of your subjects will post homework and class resources on Canvas which is accessed through the intranet. You will be provided with your login details and a password when you arrive. Please make sure these are active before your first class. CareyLink can be accessed anywhere you have internet access. If you need help with this or have difficulty accessing CareyLink, please contact the Carey ICT Department (03) 9816 1249 or ictsupport@carey.com.au

have a driver’s licence and wish to drive to School or be a passenger in the car of a licensed Carey student. If you have any questions please speak to your mentor or Head of House. You can check Victorian laws about drivers on Overseas Licences at vicroads.vic.gov.au. If you intend to carry a drivers licence or drive a car, please consult with your Home Stay provider about keeping the vehicle on their property. Food The Carey canteen is open from 8.00am until 3.30pm each school day. You can buy a wide range of food including snacks, coffee, soft drinks and meals such as rice dishes and pasta, salads in summer and soups in winter. Year 12 students can access the canteen during study periods as well as at recess, lunch and before and after school. Many students bring their lunch and snacks from home. Leaving School Early Year 10 students cannot leave the School before the official end of the day (2.35pm Mondays, 3.10pm Tuesdays and Fridays, 3.00pm Wednesdays and Thursdays) unless they have a note from their parent/home stay provider. Year 11 and 12 students may leave after their last timetabled class for the day, provided they have no co‑curricular commitments. It is also important that you do not make appointments, such as with a doctor, dentist or at an embassy, during school time. You should try to schedule these appointments outside school hours. If you have no choice but to leave school for an important appointment, your parent/home stay provider must provide a note or phone Senior School reception on 9816 1369. Roll Call You must attend roll call on Monday, Tuesday and Friday morning and should be on the School grounds by 8.15am every day. If you are late to School you must report in at Senior School reception. If you miss school without parent/ home stay provider notification (phone call or note) you will be given a detention as a consequence. If you are ill or physically unable to attend school, your parent/Home Stay provider must inform the School that you will be away. This can be done by either calling the absentee line (03) 9816 1456 or by email to ssabsences@carey.com.au, preferably before 8.20am on the day. When they contact the School they will need to provide your name, year
level, House and the reason you are not at school. If you are ill for two consecutive days or more you must provide the School with a doctor’s certificate. You will also need a doctor’s certificate if you are absent for special School or House activities such as Chapel. Student Behaviour It is important that you are familiar with what we expect of our students before you begin at Carey. The School’s policy on student management is based on an expectation that all of our students will: • Always act with consideration and respect for others; • Display a responsible attitude to personal safety; • Be able to act independently when appropriate rather than conform to peer pressure; • Be accountable for their own words and actions; • Act as ambassadors for the School – at no time or under any circumstances should their conduct be such as to bring discredit to the School; • Feel pride in their own appearance and that of the School; and
cards and notes at train stations. Depending on your visa, you may not be eligible for a Public Transport Student Concession Card/Child Myki. If you do not have one of these cards authorised by the Carey, you will be fined if you travel with a concession/student transport ticket. studying difficult in your Home Stay or you need to work with other students. More information about homework and study is available in the Year 10 Study Guide and the VCE and IB Handbooks. These handbooks are available on CareyLink (Life at Carey > Curriculum Information > Senior School). If you need help with study skills or have any difficulty with any of your subjects or your homework, always talk to someone about it. There are many people who will be happy to help you including: your mentor and/or Head of House; your subject teachers; Carey counselling staff and/or Learning Development staff; and your parents/Home Stay provider. You can also buy good quality second hand uniforms at the School Swap Shop on campus. You can find the Swap Shop opening times on CareyLink (Community at Carey > Swap Shop). Careylink also has the details of sports uniform, including your House sports uniform. If you are not sure what uniform to wear for sport or a special occasion, your mentor will be able to help you. You are also required to purchase an appropriate Carey school bag. Small satchels or bags will not be large enough to carry the many things you will often need to bring to School. The best option is a large Carey school bag, which is also available from Bob Stewart.
Academic Expectations Homework and Study All students in Senior School receive regular homework for each subject. Details of this work will usually be listed on CLASSe, but it is important that you record all homework that you are given in your Carey diary. It is your responsibility to complete all homework by the set date. There are serious consequences for the late submission of assessment tasks and homework, including notifying your parents/Home Stay provider. Our expectations for study hours per week are Year 10: 10 hours, Year 11: 15–18 hours and Year 12: 25 hours. The Information Resource Centre is open from 7.30am–6.00pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am–4.00pm on Friday, Term 2 and Term 3 school holidays 9.00am–4.00pm for silent reading study and research. This can be a good place to do your homework if you find International Students Orientation Handbook
Research and Assignments The Information Resource Centre provides books and online resources as well as research and assignment help. It is a place for study and reading with an exciting collection of fiction books and recreational magazines – including a growing collection of books in Chinese. The Information Resource Centre also compiles a number of different lists and databases to help with Senior School subjects. Assignments listed on CLASSe have links to research pathfinders created by the Information Resource Centre staff, which list useful books, magazine articles and websites that relate to your assignments in each subject. These online resources are listed in your subject links on CLASSe and can also be accessed through CareyLink (Life at Carey > Libraries > CLI Library). If you cannot find what you are looking for yourself in the Information Resource Centre, you are welcome to ask for reference, research and assignment help from the Teacher Librarians who will be happy to help you find the information you need. Students can also use spare time to work quietly in the mezzanine study areas, use the chess boards or conduct research on the desktop computers. The Learning Development staff are also available to help with academic work if you have difficulty with literacy and numeracy, organisational issues or study-related concerns. To make an appointment with Learning Development speak to your mentor. Study Periods Study periods are timetabled periods when you do not have a scheduled class and are expected
to work independently. A silent study room (Study Hall) is available for Senior School students to study and complete homework at school. Year 12 students may also study in groups of three or fewer in the Senior School Quadrangle. There are also Maths study support sessions held most Wednesday afternoons.
Academic Assessment Year 10 Assessment Your class teachers will request an assessment task (essay/presentation/assignment etc.) to be completed by a set date. You must ensure that you hand it in on time as there are serious consequences, including the notification of parents/Home Stay provider, for not meeting these deadlines. If you have any concerns or believe that you have a good reason for needing an extension on a due date please speak to your subject teacher and your mentor. VCE Assessment Your class teachers will notify you of any upcoming SACs (School Assessed Coursework) in advance. If you have any concerns regarding your SACs please speak to your subject teacher and/ or mentor. Your teachers will expect SATs (School Assessed Tasks such as essays/presentations/ assignments etc.) to be completed by a set date. You must ensure that you hand all work in on time as there are very serious consequences for not submitting VCE work by the due date. If you have any concerns or believe that you have a good reason for needing an extension on a due date, please speak to your subject teacher and your mentor. Please also refer to your VCE Handbook or CareyLink (Life at Carey > Curriculum Information > Senior School > VCE) or contact the VCE Co‑ordinator, Mrs Connie Black, for more information connie.black@carey.com.au. IB Assessment Your teachers will expect all assessment tasks (folios/essays/presentations/assignment etc.) to be completed by or on a set date. You must ensure that you hand all work in on time as there are very serious consequences for not submitting IB work punctually. If you have any concerns or believe that you have a good reason for needing an extension on a due date, please speak to your subject teacher and your mentor.

Please also refer to your IB Handbook or CareyLink (Life at Carey > Curriculum Information > Senior School > IB) or contact the IB Coordinator Ms Frédérique Petithory for mor information frederique.petithory@carey.com.au Examinations Before examination periods begin, you will be given a timetable of when and where your examinations will be held. You will be required to wear your School uniform to all examination sessions except Year 12 final examinations. You must also bring photo ID (such as your Carey student card) to all of your examinations. There are special rules about what you are allowed to bring into an examination, for example you must always bring your pens and pencils in a seethrough bag, so please check with your teachers or your mentor about examination rules for your subjects. If you have any concerns about examinations, please speak to your mentor, your relevant Curriculum Co-ordinator or the Deputy Head of Senior School – Curriculum, Mr Graeme Young graeme.young@carey.com.au
Co-curricular Activities Sports, Outdoor Education, Music and the Performing Arts Participation in co-curricular activities is compulsory at Carey and you are expected to attend all training sessions and rehearsals for the co-curricular activities that you have selected. You will be advised of what sports uniform to wear by your sports coach. If you have any questions, please ask your mentor or Head of House. To check if your sporting match has been cancelled due to bad weather, call the Sport Wet Weather Line on 9852 0043 on the day. Training for most activities occurs at Bulleen or Kew; however, some sports train at other venues and provide return transport. In most cases, you will have to find your own way to your Saturday sporting matches. Your coach and the Home Stay Co-ordinator will be able to help you with advice about travelling to sports venues. For further information about our co-curricular activities and policies please refer to CareyLink (Life at Carey > Co‑curricular Activities).
It is important to remember that the IB is a two-year course so you should keep all of your work from every subject for the whole two 9

Where to Go for Help Academic Help You may find that there are a number of differences the Australian education system and the kinds of classes you are used to at home. In Senior School, your teachers will expect that you are responsible for your own learning and organisation, this includes catching up with work you missed and doing extra study or exercises to to improve work. It also means that you will be responsible for setting your own homework and study schedule, keeping your notes organised, writing your own revision notes and making appointments with your teachers to get extra help. If you find any of these things difficult or have any other study related problems, speak to your teacher and your mentor, or alternatively Deputy Head of Senior School (Student Wellbeing). You can also get help from the Learning Development staff. The Learning Development staff are trained to help students with these kinds of study related problems. Ask your mentor to make you an appointment or contact Mr Allan International Students Orientation Handbook
Computers and ICT If you have problems with your computer or accessing CareyLink, take your laptop to the ICT Department (opposite Macafee Courts) or phone 9816 1249 or email ictsupport@carey.com.au. Illness, Accidents and Emergencies
Should you have an accident – if you fall, hit your head or injure yourself while at school or at a Carey event (no matter how minor) – you must notify a Carey staff member as soon as possible. It is also important that your mentor and Head of House are notified. A special incident form has to be completed, but your mentor will help you with this. If you need the Police, Fire Brigade or Ambulance anywhere in Australia, call 000. From mobiles you can call 000 or 112. All of these calls are free. Lost Property Please check with Senior School Reception if you have lost anything. Each Wednesday at lunchtime you can check for lost property at the Swap Shop. Please refer to CareyLink (Admin and Info > Policies and Guidelines > Student Policies > Personal Property and Locker Policy) for further information. Personal Support and Counselling Living away from your family or getting used to a new school system can be very hard, so do not be afraid to ask for help. There are a lot of people at Carey who will be able to help you if you are finding things a little bit difficult; for example, if you often feel sad, are overwhelmed by your school work or have long periods of time where you cannot sleep.
As soon as you feel uncertain, worried or need advice you should talk about it with your mentor, Head of House or Home Stay provider. Carey School Counsellors also play an important role in helping students, particularly during stressful or emotional times. They are all registered psychologists and have a lot of experience helping Carey students. At times, your mentor or Head of House might suggest that talking to one of the counsellors would be helpful. You can also make your own appointment to see a Carey Counsellor by contacting Student Services. These internal Carey counselling services are available to all students at no cost. If Carey counsellors recommend that you be referred to an external counsellor, the cost for this will be incurred by your parents. External referrals will be arranged by Mr Allan Griffin, Head of Student Development, in consultation with your parents. For more information email student.development@carey.com.au or call 9816 1226. Resolution of Grievances Purpose The purpose of Carey Baptist Grammar School’s Complaints and Appeals Policy is to provide you with the opportunity to access procedures to facilitate the resolution of a dispute or complaint. The internal complaints and appeals processes are conciliatory and non-legal. Disputes Disputes between students and the School are dealt with on an individual basis, normally through the House system, which is responsible for the welfare of students. If you find you are unable to resolve a grievance within this system, and you wish to pursue the matter further, you have access to an internal panel. This panel consists of those most likely to achieve resolution of the matter, and could comprise any or all of the following: the School Counsellors, the School Chaplain, the Principal or his representative and an independent member of the Baptist Union. If you wish to do so, you may include a nominee of your own choosing. Disputes should be settled promptly, having regard to the duration of your stay in Australia on a student visa. If the dispute is not satisfactorily resolved within the School, either party may request the involvement of an external review panel. The Dispute Settlement Centre of Victoria
(at 456 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne), is able to provide this service. Complaints against other students Grievances brought by a student against another student will be dealt with under the School’s Behaviour Policy, which is outlined in the Senior School diary and on CareyLink (Admin and Info > Policies and Guidelines > Student Policies > Student Behaviour Policy for Middle and Senior Students > Child Safe Policy > Complaints & Appeals Policy). Informal Complaints Resolution In the first instance, you should contact your mentor or Head of House to attempt mediation or an informal resolution of your complaint. If your complaint cannot be resolved through mediation, it will be referred to the Head of School and the School’s internal formal complaints and appeals handling procedure will be followed. Formal Complaints Handling Procedure All complaints lodged under the School’s grievance procedure are confidential. All complaints or appeals are a matter between the parties concerned and those directly involved in the complaints handling process. To formally lodge a complaint, students must notify the School, in writing, of the nature and details of the complaint or appeal. These written complaints or appeals are to be lodged with the Head of Senior School, Ms Kylie Lyneham. Where the internal complaints and appeals process is being accessed because the student has received notice by the School that the School intends to report him/her for unsatisfactory course attendance, unsatisfactory course progress or suspension or cancellation of enrolment, the student has 20 days from the date of notification in which to lodge a written appeal.
11
Internal complaints and appeals processes are available to students at no cost. Each complainant has the opportunity to present his/her case to the Principal. Students may be accompanied and assisted by a support person at all relevant meetings. The formal grievance process will commence within 10 working days in term time of the lodgment of the complaint or appeal with the Principal. Once the Principal has come to a decision regarding the complaint or appeal, the student will be informed in writing of the outcome and the reasons for the outcome. If the grievance procedure finds in favour of the student, the School will immediately implement the decision and any corrective and preventative action required. The School undertakes to finalise all grievance procedures within 10 working days in term time. For the duration of the appeals process, the student is required to maintain enrolment and attendance at all classes as normal. The complainant and appellant will be given a written statement of the outcome with details of the reasons as per Standard 8.1.d of the ESOS Act. External appeals process If the complaints procedure does not find in favour of the student or the student is dissatisfied with the result of the complaints procedure, he/ she will be informed of the external complaints and appeals process available to them at minimal or no cost within 10 working days of the conclusion of the internal review process. The external body used for the School’s external complaints and appeals processes is the Dispute Settlement Centre of Victoria, disputes.vic.gov.au. Child Safety
