As summer winds down and we enter the final stretch of the season, we want to take a moment to thank each of you for your continued hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence on every job site and in every department. These past two months have been busy—full of exciting new projects, team growth, and meaningful progress across the company. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished together and are looking forward to everything the fall has in store.

In this edition, you’ll find updates on our projects, employee milestones, safety tips, and a recap of our fun night out with the Valley Cats. We love taking time to recognize the people who make Carey Electric what it is. This July and August, we celebrated a number of birthdays and work anniversaries— congratulations to all! Whether you're blowing out candles or reflecting on another year of dedication to the trade, we hope you know how appreciated you are.

We’re also excited to welcome several new employees to the Carey Electric team!

We’re glad to have you aboard and look forward to seeing your skills and energy out in the field or in the office. Whether you’re a seasoned journeyman or just starting out, know that you’re part of a team that values craftsmanship, safety, and mutual support.

In addition to welcoming new faces, we want to give a heartfelt congratulations to our team members who have celebrated personal milestones this summer. Procore Update: Strong Start, Real Results

Since launching Procore earlier this summer, we’ve already begun to see the positive impact of the platform in how we manage our projects and communicate across teams. We want to thank everyone who’s been submitting timesheets and daily logs consistently—your attention to detail and commitment to this new system are making a big difference!

The information you’re providing—such as manpower counts, work completed, delivery issues, and documented scope changes or unexpected conditions in the field—is helping us stay on top of jobsite needs in real time.

This level of reporting allows project managers to respond quickly, communicate more effectively with clients, and track project changes with greater accuracy. It also keeps the office and field aligned, while improving forecasting, planning, and decision-making across the board. In short, it’s helping us work smarter and operate more efficiently as a company.

We know this is still a learning curve, and we’re proud of how everyone is stepping up. We’ll continue rolling out training sessions and support materials in the coming weeks—so keep an eye out for announcements on new topics and upcoming dates. If you have any questions or feedback about the process, don’t hesitate to reach out. Your input helps us fine-tune how we use these tools.

Project Wins & Updates We’re excited to share that Carey Electric has been awarded a number of new projects over the past two months—a direct reflection of the outstanding work you continue to deliver across every job site.

A big thank you as well to our amazing estimating department, whose hard work and attention to detail lay the foundation long before a project becomes a Carey job.

Below are just a few recent wins we’re especially proud to highlight, with more great work underway across the region

Albany Capital Center Expansion (126 State Street) Carey Electric is proud to be part of the upcoming Albany Capital Center expansion, a $54M project set to begin in September. Once complete in 2027, the upgraded facility will feature expanded meeting and ballroom space, new offices, an outdoor courtyard, and a pedestrian bridge connecting to a renovated historic building. Exciting progress ahead in the heart of downtown!

CVSE BOCES Training Facility in Plattsburgh, NY Construction is progressing on the new 146,500 sq. ft.

CVSE facility, which will house advanced labs and classrooms supporting CTE programs from welding and electrical to culinary arts and healthcare. We’re proud to help build the future of skilled trades education.

NYOH REGIONAL CANCER CENTER Construction is set to begin in late August on the new 105,000 sq. ft.

New York Oncology Hematology (NYOH) regional cancer center in Guilderland, with completion targeted for September 2026. This facility will house specialized treatment equipment—including two Linear Accelerator (Linac) machines—and significantly expand access to advanced cancer care in the Capital Region.

We’re proud to support this critical project from the ground up.

Project Updates - KIPP Tech Valley We’re proud to share that the KIPP Charter School project in Albany is now officially complete—another standout finish for Carey Electric this summer!

Kevin Power and Chris Rozowicz played critical roles in bringing this fast-tracked job across the finish line, with Kevin overseeing project management and coordination and Chris leading field operations with steady execution and attention to detail. Their collaboration, communication, and shared leadership were key to navigating the aggressive timeline and ensuring a smooth delivery.

But KIPP is just one part of a broader summer sprint. Across the region, multiple school projects are now in their final stages, and our crews have been putting in the hours to meet critical back-to-school deadlines. Whether it’s powering up classrooms, ensuring fire alarm systems are tested and cleared, or wrapping final punch lists, Carey teams have been pushing hard—and with purpose.

This work isn’t just about timelines. It’s about making sure teachers and students walk into safe, functioning, well-prepared spaces on day one. We’re proud of the long hours, teamwork, and hustle that have gone into every detail.

As these school projects wrap up and new opportunities open in the fall, we want to thank our field teams for showing up with urgency, ownership, and pride. It makes a difference—and it shows!

Project Spotlight: Mohawk Harbor Hyatt Hotel

The Hyatt Hotel in Schenectady continues to be a showcase of precision and progress as our team drives forward on this high-profile, five-story commercial build. With an aggressive schedule and numerous trade partners in play, coordination is everything—and the Carey crew has stepped into that challenge with clarity and control.

This project includes a full electrical scope: power distribution, lighting systems, fire alarm infrastructure, and low-voltage rough-in. It’s a job that demands sharp timing, fast problem-solving, and the ability to execute across multiple systems simultaneously.

Project Manager Mike Flexer and Foreman Matt Zeissler are leading a focused and capable team that’s setting a strong pace on site. Their commitment to maintaining momentum without sacrificing quality has been key to our success here. From system layout to execution, the crew’s attention to detail and consistency is raising the bar.

Safety Corner: Preventing Back Injuries & Strengthening Your Core Back injuries are one of the most common and costly issues on construction sites—and one of the most preventable. At Carey Electric, safety doesn’t stop at PPE or procedure. It includes taking care of the most important tool you bring to work every day: your body.

Whether you're lifting conduit, hauling wire, or spending long hours standing, your back and core are doing the heavy work. This month’s Safety Corner is focused on helping you protect your spine, improve your strength, and reduce your risk of injury—on and off the job.

🛠️ Lifting Smarter, Not Harder

According to eSafety Training, proper technique is your first defense against injury.

Here are a few of their key reminders: Lift with your legs, not your back. Bend at the knees and keep your spine straight.

Hold loads close to your body. This reduces strain on your spine and muscles.

Never twist while lifting. Move your feet to turn your whole body.

Break loads into smaller parts. Don’t be a hero—get help if it’s too heavy.

Use mechanical aids whenever possible. Dollies, lifts, and carts are there for a reason.

These techniques don’t just prevent injury—they keep you working longer, stronger, and safer.

💪 Stronger Core = Safer Back Strengthening your core muscles (abs, lower back, and pelvis) gives your body the support it needs to handle the demands of your job. Even just 5–10 minutes a day of simple exercises can make a big difference in your balance, posture, and injury prevention.

TRY These three exercises, adapted from the Mayo Clinic’s Core Strength Guide, are easy to do at home or during a break:

Bird-Dog Stabilizes spine and improves coordination

Glute Bridge

Modified Plank

Strengthens glutes and low back

Activates full core

Start on hands and knees, spine neutral.

Extend your right arm forward and left leg back.

Hold 5 seconds, return to start, switch sides.

Do 10 reps per side.

Lie on your back, knees bent, feet flat.

Press through heels, lift hips to form a straight line from shoulders to knees.

Hold 3–5 seconds, lower down.

Repeat 10–15 times.

On forearms and knees (or toes), hold a straight body line.

Engage your core and avoid sagging hips.

Hold 20–30 seconds, increase as strength builds.

Staying injury-free isn’t just about luck—it’s about habits.

Take care of your body now, and it will take care of you for years to come.

⚾ Valley Cats Night Out Recap Thanks to everyone who came out to our Valley Cats Night Out in June!

It was a great evening to relax, catch a game, and connect outside of work. Seeing our team— and their families—together in the stands was a great reminder of the strong community we’re building at Carey.

We appreciate everyone who made it out and hope to see even more of you at the next event!

📅 Upcoming Company-Wide Meeting & Picnic

We’ll be holding a company-wide meeting in mid-September, followed by a picnic to close out the summer. The meeting will include updates from leadership, a recap of this past year’s progress, and a look ahead at what’s coming for the remainder of 2025.

We’ll highlight major wins, ongoing initiatives, internal improvements, and recognize standout performance and safety milestones. There will also be time for open discussion and employee feedback.

After the meeting, we’ll head outside for a relaxed team picnic with lunch, cornhole, music, and a chance to unwind and connect with coworkers you may not see every day.

It’s a great opportunity to take a breather, enjoy some well-earned downtime, and wrap up the summer together as a team.
