IworkedinFinanceandBankingforover20yearsandinRiskas aRiskandControlOfficer In2012,myroleinRiskwasmade redundantduringthefinancialdownturnanditwaschallengingto returntootherfinancialrolesduetothedifficulteconomictimes.
Intheendmycareerbreaklasted10years Unabletofindajobin thefinancesector,IturnedtoretailandworkedatHarrodsona small-scalebasis Ialsotooktheopportunitytostartmyhome cakemakingbusinesswhichIthoroughlyenjoyed! Ialwayswantedtoreturntoprofessionalwork,butI unfortunatelyfoundthatthelongerIwasoutofFinance,the morechallengingitbecametoreturn Whencovidhit,therewere manychangesandthatpushedmetotryharderandsmarterto getbacktomyprofessionalindustry.
However,theexperiencewasextremelychallenging Recruitment agenciesweretellingmethatIhadbeenoutoftheindustrytoo long Ihadacoupleofinterviewsthroughnetworkingwithexcolleagues,butitwasacaseof‘socloseandyetsofar’–I receivedgoodfeedbackbutwasultimatelyunsuccessful.
