Do I qualify for VAT relief?
If you have a long-term illness or you’re disabled, you don’t have to pay VAT on certain goods as long as they are designed or adapted for your own personal or domestic use.
The scheme also covers the installation of products, repairs or maintenance and spare parts or accessories, and is intended to reduce the price of products and services that you may need because of your disability.
Which products are eligible for 0% VAT?
Look out for the VAT Exempt badge on products when browsing our site. These products are eligible for VAT relief as they have been designed or adapted specifically for a disability. So, as long as your disability or longterm illness qualifies under the scheme, you don’t have to pay VAT on these products.
What counts as a long-term illness or disability?
For VAT purposes, you are disabled or have a long-term illness if:
• you have a physical or mental impairment which has a long-term and substantial adverse effect upon your ability to carry out everyday activities.
• you have a condition that the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness, such as diabetes.
• you are terminally ill.
You don’t qualify if you are elderly but otherwise able-bodied, or if you’re temporarily disabled. You don’t have to physically buy the goods in person. If your parent, guardian, wife or husband buys the goods and services for you, then you will not be charged VAT.
How do I purchase zero-rated VAT products?
When you place your order, we’ll ask you to make a legally binding declaration about your illness or disability, that we may be required to provide to HMRC. In completing this form, you are declaring that you are claiming VAT relief under Group 12 of Schedule 8 of the Value Added Tax Act 1994.

Taking back control
Karen from Bradford, West Yorkshire, is a loving wife, Mum, and Grandmother who enjoys going out and socialising. However, following a diagnosis of MND, Karen has had to re-evaluate her sense of control.
Motor Neurone Disease affects about 500 UK residents at any one time and can make gripping walking, speaking and swallowing increasingly more difficult in patients. While there is currently no cure for MND, there are many methods to help ease some of the symptoms. Muscle weakness is one of the main symptoms of MND that affects the mobility and movement of the person, who can need ongoing care and support.
Soon after her diagnosis, Karen recognised a mobility aid would help her stay independent.

The world of mobility was completely new and daunting for Karen, as she explains: “I knew nothing about powerchairs or any mobility aids!”. Most important to her was not losing her independence by having to be pushed in a wheelchair. With that in mind, Karen apprehensively visited her nearest CareCo showroom in Leeds to find a mobility aid that would suit her needs. Through the expertise, kindness and compassion of our mobility experts, Karen was introduced to the world of powerchairs. The number of different models impressed Karen, who found what she was looking for in the Cobas powerchair.
The Cobas was an easy choice due to the easy use of controls and the stylish build of the chair. “I would recommend the chair to other people, just purely because of how comfortable it is, how easy it is to manoeuvre, and the way it looks. It’s a nice looking chair”. Karen felt confident again to try to do the things she used to. Holidays, days out, light displays with the Grandkids at Christmas – the things that put a smile on Karen’s face were once again possible. The Cobas also allowed her to be fully in control of her movement and not rely so much on others.
The Cobas helps Karen manage her MND symptoms, which include muscle weakness. With her powerchair, Karen has regained her independence and ability to do what she loves most.

This anatomically shaped pad in three absorbencies is especially designed to fit the male form to ensure maximum security and discretion. The cup shaped pad follows the contours of the body to give a snug and secure fit. The adhesive strip secures the pad in position within normal underwear. The soft material is gentle to the skin and completely noise free.
Disposable absorbent product that can be handled just like normal underwear, encouraging greater self-care. The security that TENA Pants provides is due to the FeelDry™ technology, which rapidly absorbs even large quantities of urine into the core and quickly away from the skin, keeping the surface exceptionally dry.

A reliable and versatile incontinence bed protection. The adult-size sheet covers mattresses, chairs, sofas, wheelchairs and other surfaces from accidental urine loss or bed wetting. The combination of the absorbent core and waterproof back-sheet ensures leakage protection.

It’s ideal if you live in an upstairs flat or apartment, would struggle to lift heavy boxes or parts, or just want to make sure your product is correctly assembled and safely installed.
On your delivery day, the engineer will arrive with your product and make sure everything is just right. They’ll show you how everything works, including how to charge, assemble and disassemble your product. If you’ve got any questions, our engineer will be happy to answer them.
And they’ll even take all the unnecessary packaging with them when they leave. It really is as simple as that.
Where products are particularly tricky to put together, Home Installation will be provided free of charge. You’ll see these products listed with Home Installation included.
The standard charge for Home Installation is £60. Extra items can be added for just £30 each. Please note that Home Installation deliveries are sometimes carried out by a third party.

Our large items are, well, large! So we ask one of our specialist delivery partners to deal with all the heavy lifting for you. This is a 2-man room of choice delivery service and it includes:
• SMS and email updates to keep you in the loop from the moment you place your order to the day your product is delivered.
• A 2-hour delivery window with a courtesy call 30-45 minutes before our delivery partner arrives - so you won’t be waiting indoors all day.
• Delivery of your product to a room of your choice, up a maximum of 3 flights of stairs.
• Your item can be unboxed, but for extras like installation, demonstration and the removal of packaging you may want to consider our Home Installation service.
• For next day deliveries, orders made after 3pm will be delivered within 1-2 working days.
• Next / specific day delivery is only available on items in stock at the time of purchase.
• While we guarantee next day / specific day dispatch CareCo are not responsible if the courier service fails to deliver on time. However, every effort will be made to ensure your product arrives as per your request.
