Cardinal Global Logistics LCL Services Directory March 25
Competitive rates, comprehensive service and complete visibility.
After a year of rerouting it’s time to get things back on track in the shipping world, starting with the return of our services directory.
A long time ago, we’d update all our clients with the latest offerings alongside stories of Cardinal’s now retired figurehead, the Captain. Now, we’re looking to reintroduce this handy guide in the colours of our new branding, with extra details designed to making shipping in 2025 even easier.
All shipping information can be found in the later pages of this brochure, but first we’d like to update you on what we’ve been doing in recent years.
You may have seen that Cardinal Global Logistics became employee owned. The move saw us join forces with Far Logistics under the banner of The Cardinal Partnership. Together, we stand as the biggest employee-owned logistics business in the world. Which is an immense achievement, but also a responsibility.
We’ve spent the best part of the last two years working to discover what that ownership means to us, how it redefines the way we work together and for you. It’s led to the creation of new teams tasked with improving customer service, employee bodies responsible for enhancing employee experience and an investment in our working environment. It’s a lot to cover in a newsletter!
The headline is that we’ve democratised our ownership in a bid to be a better business, for you, our employees and for the wider world. And if that sounds ambitious, it’s meant to.
We want everyone who visits our head office to feel that ambition, because we own this.
Meet our Business Development Managers
Here’s a quick introduction to our team of BDM’s, so you can see who they are and get a glimpse of their interests and personalities.
Gary OConnor
I’m Gary and joined Cardinal in April 24 as a Business Development Manager.
I’ve worked in operations and sales for over 35 years and still enjoy meeting people, building relationships and the challenges that make this industry interesting.
Although I keep banging on about “the good old days” Cardinal has the qualities and the people that make you look forward to going to work every day which I have missed for a long time.
Sales is never easy but when you have confidence in your product and the backing of a great team it makes life a little easier.
What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? Fishing with my boy.
Do you have any pet peeves? Signs on vans that just give a name, I want to know what you do.
What’s the app you use most?
McDonald’s (When you’re out all day you know).
What’s your most prized possession and why? A cup coaster, my boy made it at school it’s a picture of me and him fishing.
Who or what never fails to make you laugh? The Simpsons.
Do you like going to the movies or prefer watching at home? Do people still go to the movies?
Laura Lucking
I joined Cardinal in May 2024 having worked in the consolidation industry for a number of years. I am really enjoying being a part of the Partnership. I love that my role allows me to meet customers face to face… no hiding behind emails! People book with people, and nothing beats a real conversation to build strong relationships.
What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to? Tom Jones! (please don’t judge me!) His voice was incredible!
What song always gets you out on the dance floor? If Little Mix comes on, I’m on that dance floor, living my best life. Bonus points if it’s Shout Out to My Ex.
How old were you when you had your first celebrity crush, and who was it? I remember watching Sean Bean in Sharpe as a little girl, and got the Sharpe DVD box set (showing my age!) for Christmas as a teenager. I literally fell in love with him.
Would you rather cook or order in?
I absolutely love to cook! My 7-year-old loves getting involved. For National Yorkshire Pudding Day, we made an epic toad in the hole… it was delicious!
What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? A spa day with the girls. We always make sure to book a couple throughout the year. It’s the perfect way to unwind.
What is your favourite type of exercise? I love a gym class! Body pump, body combat, step…
Alistair Greenall
I’m Alistair, and I’m excited to be entering my 10th year at Cardinal, with the past 3 years spent as a Business Development Manager.
I began my journey with Cardinal at 20, starting in our wholesale division. Over the years, I’ve gained experience across various teams, including the full load import, part load import, and part load export departments – though it seems operations wasn’t quite the right fit for me, as I eventually landed in the commercial team!
After a couple of years as an Account Manager, I was fortunate to have the
opportunity to take on a business development role, which has been incredibly rewarding both personally and professionally.
What’s your favourite way to spend a day off? Taking it easy, morning walk for a nice coffee, going to the gym and heading out for a nice lunch.
What are your hobbies, and how did you get into them? Golf and gym. I started playing golf from quite a young age, love that I can incorporate golf into my career by playing with clients (any players please reach out!). I started the gym in high school after wanting bigger arms haha, loved it ever since… (Still have small arms).
What’s one thing that can instantly make your day better? Seeing my kids!
How do you take your coffee? Nice and strong, very hot… espressos in the office, cappuccino when out and about.
Who or what inspires you in your career? Entrepreneurs and risk takers, huge respect to anyone that backs themselves to take a big risk.
What’s the best career decision you’ve ever made? Pushing as hard as I could for the opportunity to be on the road as a BDM for Cardinal.
