CONSTRUCTION UPDATE APRIL 2020

THE PHIL SMITH FAMILY BUILDING NEW FACILITY PROJECT UPDATE Tie columns and beams have been formed, reinforced, inspected and poured.

All underground utilities have been roughed-in and inspected.

The slab-on-grade has been formed, reinforced, inspected and poured.

Second floor hollow core planks and panels have been set and grouted.

The second floor was successfully poured.

CMU block is currently being installed up to the roof elevation.

Next, roof beams will be formed, reinforced, inspected and poured. Rooftop hollow core installation is scheduled to begin the week of April 20, 2020.

The addition of the Phil Smith Family Building will strengthen and expand STEAM and music curriculum and programs at Cardinal Gibbons, while affording students new opportunities to develop and hone their skills in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics. The Phil Smith Family Building will feature an Engineering Lab, choral room and secondary practice space, band studio, digital music lab, a Genius Room and television editing and production studios, as well as collaborative STEAM classrooms and labs.

Underground utilities stub-ups were installed prior to pouring the slab-on-grade.
