If you’re planning a visit to Techniquest for February half-term, then you’ll be treated to the weird and wonderful world of Bubbles and Blasts. Find out how bubbles are made, what happens when they’re filled with different gases and discover why they are actually a kind of sandwich – although definitely not one you should eat! To book for this exciting live science show, simply add the option to your general admission ticket when you book online.

The Planetarium will also be running the ever popular Star Tours, so you can stay warm and dry as you explore the night sky. The new 4K projector brings the cosmos into sharper focus than ever before so it’s well worth a visit if you’ve not been for a while.

Or perhaps popping on a lab coat and goggles is more to your taste? In which case, keep an eye out for the option to book a hands-on workshop in the newly refurbished Lab instead. Brighten up your day by taking a look at colour changing chemicals, how colours appear under UV light and even catch a glimpse of coloured fire!

Spaces are limited in both the Planetarium and the Lab, so make sure you don’t miss out by adding them to your booking as early as you can.

On the exhibition floor, you can try your hand at virtual surgery, create digital fireworks, pilot a submersible ROV, feel the full force of a hurricane or the tremor of an earthquake, test the suction of the vacuum chair, compete with friends to launch the air-propelled rockets or dock a spacecraft - and much, much more. With over 100 great interactive exhibits and puzzles to discover, there’s plenty to keep curious minds captivated over the holidays.

And if you can’t make it then, or would prefer to visit at a time that’s a little quieter than it tends to be during school holidays, Techniquest is also open every weekend throughout February and March.
