Hello and a huge welcome to Cardiff Met! Open day advice from our students •

•

Imagine life beyond your lectures. Where would you study, socialise, stay active or unwind? Can you see yourself here?

•

Explore Cardiff. Take a detour into the city centre and see if you can find your hiraeth*. Check out some of our favourite spots later in your open day guide.

•

You don’t need to make any big decisions today. Use the day to explore your options, ask questions and see what feels right.

Where do I start with my personal statement? We asked our Application Support team for their top tips for getting started with your personal statement. Don’t wait to get started ○ Personal statements will

go through multiple drafts. Get your ideas down first and then refine. Focus on your “why”

Follow the ‘ABC’ structure

○ Think about what sparked

○ Activity: What you did ○ Benefit: What you gained from it ○ Course: Link it back to your course

your interest and where you’d like the subject to take you. It’s not just about what you’ve done ○ The most important part is

linking everything you’ve done back to your course ○ We want to see the person behind the application, what motivates you, and what you’ll bring to your studies.

Stuck? We’d love to help. Send us your personal statement for feedback: schoolsandcolleges@cardiffmet.ac.uk

We can also review your personal statement at the open day! Book your slot in your booking portal. 12
