The Confederate statue that was located at the Southwest corner of the Daviess County Courthouse, in Owensboro, Ky. The monument was placed in September 1900, by John C. Breckinridge Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Over 5,000 came to witness the dedication. The statue was there for over 124 years. It was removed because of hatred and racism. It has been over 163 years since the Civil War April 12, 1861 and will always be a part of our history, no one can change that. There were African Americans on both sides of the Civil War. The South had no desire on conquering Washington DC., only to be left alone. This is not my opinion, this is facts.
