Juana Inés: The Child Who Loved to Read

1st - 5y grade Level

In this bilingual play, Juana Inés: The Child Who Loved to Read, we learn the story of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz.

In the 1600s, she lived in Mexico and was a writer, philosopher, musician, and teacher. At a time when women were discouraged from reading and writing, Sor Juana overcame many obstacles to become the most celebrated poet in Mexico’s history. Because of the importance of her literary work, she was called the Phoenix of America.
