BUTUAN CITY - The regional office of the Commission on Population and Development (POPCOM) summoned the population officers and workers of the provinces, cities, and municipalities in Caraga region to concentrate all their efforts and resources on changing the lives of women, children, and adolescents for the better.

In the program assessment and planning workshop held earlier, POPCOM Caraga Regional Director Alexander A. Makinano pointed out that by putting people’s needs and aspirations upfront these will contribute to the achievement of United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that includes no poverty, good health and well-being, gender equality, reduced inequality, climate action, and partnerships to achieve the goal.

This major transition, among others, is expected to contribute to POPCOM’s PPMP targets that involve (1) enabling couples and individuals to plan their number of children in the context of responsible parenthood, (2) preventing early and repeated pregnancy among adolescents, and (3) enabling regional, sectoral, and local government agencies to integrate population factors and dynamics in development interventions.
