I’m truly excited for you to see the new season blossoming at Capital Theatres this spring with captivating dance, gripping drama, famous faces and family fun coming to each of our venues.
Musical fans are in for a real treat with the return of Heathers. Take a trip back to the popularity contest of Westerberg High in this sharp musical adaptation of the 1980s film.
The thrills don’t stop there – circus returns to the Festival Theatre with the spectacular Duck Pond, an acrobatic retelling of Swan Lake from Australian circus troupe Circa. Dance lovers will be swept up in Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella, where the classic fairytale is set against the backdrop of wartime Britain. Following the best-selling tour of Death on the Nile, Detective Poirot is back in Agatha Christie’s The Hollow at the Festival Theatre.
It’s almost curtain up for the King’s Theatre
and there are lots of ways celebrate the return of our beautiful building. National treasure Graham Norton and Maria McErlane will kick things off at the King’s, bringing guaranteed laughs with their podcast Wanging On this August. The new stage has unlocked more possibilities for the King’s, including Marc Brew’s autobiographical an Accident / a Life which explores a life changing moment. Barrowland Ballet’s Chunky Jewellery marks their first new work as an associate company of Capital Theatres. Pantomime fans fear not, we’re back at the King’s this year for Pinocchio and our resident dame Allan Stewart will return in the new year with his Big Big Variety Show. An extraordinary new chapter for Capital Theatres is waiting in the wings. Share in it with us.

Their message from the past Your turn to leave one for the future
For generations, the King’s Theatre has been known as the ‘People’s Theatre’, shaped by the audiences who’ve filled its seats. As we prepare to reopen, we want to capture what it means to people across the city and what comes next.
In December 2024, theatre photographer and historian Mike Hume discovered a glass bottle hidden above the stage. Sealed in October 1906, it holds the names of the architects, plasterers and apprentices who built the King’s. Since then, each generation has left its mark.
Now it’s your turn.
As a new chapter begins, share what the King’s has meant to you and what you hope it will become. What stays with you? What should come next?

The Festival Theatre, King’s Theatre and Studio Theatre all have automated entrance doors and lifts to every level.

Seating The King’s Theatre has 40 seats with hinged armrests for easy transfer from wheelchair, as well as 12 wider seats in the stalls.
Wheelchair users Please book wheelchair spaces in advance. All spaces have adjacent seats for companions. The Festival Theatre has 8 spaces in the stalls. The King’s Theatre has 2 spaces in the Dress Circle and 6 spaces in the stalls. The Studio Theatre has 2 spaces at the front. We offer use of our theatre wheelchair.
Toilets Accessible toilets are available at the Festival Theatre on levels one and two, at the King’s Theatre on all levels, and at the Studio Theatre on level one. The King’s Theatre has a Changing Places facility. Single occupancy toilets also available in all three venues.
Headsets and Personal Induction Loops
These hearing enhancement devices are available for all performances. Collect from a member of staff on arrival. The number of headsets and loops are limited. Box Office staff can advise on the best seats to book.
Sensory packs Including sensory glasses and ear defenders are available. Collect from a member of staff on arrival.
Access
BSL – Sign Language Interpreted A BSL Interpreter will stand on one side of the stage and interpret all spoken or sung speech.
Captioning is similar to subtitles on TV. Captions are shown on two raised display units either side of the stage. The text is in large print and delivered at the same time as the words are spoken or sung.
Audio Description is a form of audiovisual translation. Through a headset (collect on arrival) a describer will tell you where the characters are on stage, what they are wearing, how they gesture and what the set looks like.
Touch Tours of the set, costumes and props are usually available from 90 minutes before the Audio Described show. Touch Tour tickets are free and should be booked in advance. Touch Tours are exclusively for those using the audio description service and their companions.
Accessible Parking The Festival Theatre has a limited number of spaces available for accessible parking and pick up / drop off in the courtyard. Please email parking@capitaltheatres.com or phone 0131 662 1112.
Relaxed performances These performances are designed to make you feel welcome, relaxed and well-supported, with additional staff and support.

Friends
For selected performances on most shows, Friends can get up 20% discount on two tickets per membership. Friends can also get 2for1 tickets on opening nights for some shows within a specific booking period. Please check show pages on the website for details.
If you have a discounted Friend membership because you are an access booker, these ticket discounts will not apply.

25 and under
Those aged 25 and under can get £10 tickets on the day. Tickets are available until 30 mins before curtain up on most performances. Bookable online for 16-25 year olds. For 11-15 year olds, in person at box office or call 0131 529 6000. Valid photo ID required. Full details online.
Groups
Groups, including schools, dance and youth groups, receive discounts on some shows. Please check show pages on the website for details. Contact our Groups team to discuss your booking.
Access
Access users can choose to receive 50% off the price of their ticket, and 50% off essential companion tickets, subject to availability. Available by phone and in person or online by completing a short form. capitaltheatres.com/access
Terms
Booking your tickets
Please check that you are booking tickets for the correct production, date and time. Tickets are non-refundable unless a performance is cancelled. If you are booking a concession ticket, we may ask for proof of eligibility when you arrive at the theatre. Tickets can be exchanged to any other date or show for a seat of the same value or higher (upon payment of the difference in value) up to 48 hours before the event. Please note exchanges are subject to a per ticket fee. Reselling tickets privately for profit is not allowed: if we find that tickets have been resold in this way, they may be cancelled without refund. If the run of a show is sold out, we may offer a resale option: a 10% resale fee applies.
TicketPlan cancellation protection is available at the time of purchase. Your tickets are non-refundable and this will protect you against cancellation resulting from certain unforeseen circumstances.

Discounts and pricing
The ticket price will be the one set at the time your order is confirmed. All advertised prices include booking fees and a contribution to the Theatre Development Fund. We may change the prices of some of the tickets based on demand; book early for the best seats and prices. Discounts only apply to full-price tickets and are limited to one per ticket. All concessions and discounts are subject to availability; they may be restricted to certain price levels and performances and can be withdrawn without notice. Discounts cannot be applied retrospectively.
Receiving your tickets
All tickets will be sent as e-tickets. You can also choose to have your tickets posted for a £2 fee.
Gift vouchers
Gift Vouchers can be used as full or part payment to buy tickets for any show in the Festival Theatre, King’s Theatre and Studio Theatre (excludes Edinburgh International Festival shows). They can be used to buy tickets online, in person at the theatre, or over the phone. They cannot be used to purchase food, drink, programmes or merchandise. Gift Vouchers are valid for 2 years from the date of purchase; once expired any unused balance cannot be refunded. Gift vouchers can be purchased over the phone, in person at the box office or online.
Young children and babies
For most shows, children under the age of 4 cannot be admitted to the auditorium, as loud sounds and special effects can be overwhelming for little ones. Babes- in-arms tickets (for babies under 12 months) are usually available for our young children’s shows and relaxed performances (please check website). While they won’t have their own seat, they can enjoy the show while sitting on their carer’s lap. To book a babes-in-arms ticket for eligible shows contact our box office. Everyone attending, no matter their age, need to have their own ticket.
At the theatre
If you arrive late, we’ll do our best to get you in at a suitable break in the performance. No cameras, video recording, or phone use during the show. To help everyone get the most out of their visit, we ask that audiences consider others around them.
