Shape the future of Capricorn
Your opportunity to make a real impact.
The strength of Capricorn has always been its Members –business owners who care about the industry and want to see it thrive. But making a difference doesn’t just happen in the workshop or on the shop floor. It happens at the highest levels of Capricorn, where Member Directors work alongside executives to guide the future of the organisation.
For over a decade, Mark Cooper, Member Director for VIC/TAS, has played a crucial role in shaping Capricorn’s direction. Elected in 2013, he went on to serve as Chair from 2019 to 2024, helping to steer the organisation through an evolving automotive landscape.
“Serving as a Member Director has been an incredible experience,” Mark said. “It’s given me the opportunity to contribute to the success of Capricorn, advocate for Members, and ensure we continue to grow stronger together. But the most important part of this role is making sure Members’ voices are heard.”
With Mark’s tenure coming to an end, a new Member Director will soon step in to represent VIC/TAS, and NSW/ACT is also holding an election this year.
Mark Rowe, Capricorn’s current Chair and QLD Member Director, emphasised why Members should take an active role.
“Capricorn is built on the strength of its Members, and the Board is no different,” Mark said. “This is a chance to shape the future of the organisation, ensure we stay relevant, and support Members in running stronger businesses.”
Director Elections for VIC/TAS and NSW/ACT
This year, Capricorn Members in VIC/TAS and NSW/ACT will have the opportunity to stand for election to the Board of Directors. If you’re passionate about the future of the automotive industry and want to contribute to Capricorn at a strategic level, now is the time to consider putting your hand up.
Capricorn’s Chair emphasises how being a Member Director is more than a leadership role— “It’s about ensuring Capricorn remains strong, valuable, and responsive to Members’ needs. If you’re curious about what’s involved, our Director Election Information Sessions would be a great first step.”
Join an Information Session
Capricorn will be hosting Information Sessions in each zone, giving Members the chance to hear directly from current leaders about what it means to be a Member Director. These sessions will cover key aspects of the role, including governance, strategy, and the impact of Member involvement. This is your opportunity to ask questions, gain insights, and take the first step toward shaping Capricorn’s future.
Nominations open in May. Learn more and register for an Information Session at cap.coop/elections
