SNARVEIEN
Grandad has come to visit, and will take Maya to nursery today. Maya knows the way. 'First this way and then that way,' she says, pointing the route. 'That's fine, says Grandad, smiling.
'This way,' says Maya, pointing. 'Past the pet-shop, then over the bridge.' Then they have to pick apples and feed the horses. There's a lot to be done on the road to nursery – especially when Maya is showing the way!
Snarveien is a charming picture-book about an everyday activity which can be really exciting and fun!

THE BILLY GOATS AT THE WATER PARK
The three Billy Goats Gruff are on their way to the meadow to eat the green grass. But along the road they find a new sign: Water Park – 200 meters. The Gruff brothers think this sounds tempting. And maybe they won't have to face the troll that is always waiting under the bridge to scare them every time they head for the hills.
The water park is exciting, especially the long slide. But then the troll shows up …
‘Fun reading for the whole family. It doesn't get much better than this!’
FORELDRE & BARN
‘In this staggeringly wise and amusing new version of an old tale, Bjørn Rørvik sets the story in the modern day, and has transformed the troll into an uncontrollable bully of the kind that all children are familiar with ... This has become a powerful, colourful and energetic book, and a very contemporary tale with its mix of fairy tale traditions and modern children's culture.’

SOON YOU'LL SLEEP
A YEAR'S GOODNIGHTS
Children sleep. Grown-ups sleep. Animals sleep. And the seasons of the year sleep too.
Sisters Haddy Jatou N'jie and Lisa Aisato have long wanted to create a picture-book together. A goodnight book about the seasons of the year as they sleep and waken to life again. A goodnight book to read at bedtime, all year round.
‘Turning the pages of this lovely book is like returning to childhood’s best and strongest children’s books memories ...’
DAGBLADET
‘Exceptionally beautiful picture book from sisters Haddy N’jie and Lisa Aisato – who for the first time have combined their forces together ... The idea is just as simple as it is original, not to mention genial. The child’s sleep is connected with the seasons. To the spring who sleeps during the winter, the summer who sleeps during the spring, and so on, until the circle is closed and all the seasons have slept and come back to life ...’
VG
‘Aisato and N’jie’s combined artistic expression calls forth both nature’s and life’s power and vulnerability, united in something so natural and wondrous as sleep. I am absolutely certain that this both sensual and hypnotic picture book will become a favourite for thousands of children.’

THE HISTORY OF DARKNESS
Yulia Horst and Daria Rychkova (illustrator) gave us Halens historie, an ingenious, lexical picture book which won the prestigious Bologna Ragazzi prize. This time, they've written about something all children can relate to, and nearly all are afraid of: the dark.
Through the eyes of a little boy who would rather sleep in his big brother's room, we learn that the darkness can be explained, and that it isn't actually so very frightening.

Yulia Horst (1978–) was born and raised in Russia, but currently lives in Oslo. She was educated within ballet and languages. In addition, Yulia is a playwright and has cooperated with the Royal Court Theatre in London. Halens historie, which won the Bologna Ragazzi Award, was her first book for children.

THE WAFFLEFISH
Fox and Piglet have borrowed a book about fish, with pictures of all sorts of fish and sea creatures. Some of the fish look very funny, for example the Gurglefish. Others look very nasty to eat, such as the Potatomouth, which is U.N.O.P – Unusually Nasty On Pizza But there are also some which look remarkably good, and most tempting of all is the Wafflefish.
Piglet fancies a wafflefish for dinner. So the two friends go on a fishing trip – but there may be more than wafflefish lurking in the deep.
Vaffelfisken is the twelfth book about Fox and Piglet. Here again Rørvik and Dybvig are in top form, as they have been right from their very first book, twenty years ago.
‘Vaffelfisken is good storytelling inspired by adventure, with funny animals given human attributes and weaknesses. This is a book that surprises, that we laugh at and grow fond of. In short: Quality fun for little ones.’

BETWEEN TWO HEARTS
MELLOM TO HJERTER
Angelina Jordan has written a very poetic, warm and emotional picture book, illustrated by her grandmother, Mery Zamani.
Mellom to hjerter tells the story of how Angelina, living in the Middle East, one day met a poor girl when she was 6 years old, and how the meeting has influenced and touched her ever since.
Mellom to hjerter is a true story about two girls living very different lives. This warm and touching story tells about the reason Angelina always sings barefoot, in support of all the poor people in the world.
’We look into each other’s eyes; she peers at me. I have to manage this, I have to do something – she must not freeze.
She has beautiful blue eyes. Her eyes are the color of sky and sea. She doesn’t want to talk to anyone. But even though she might not want to talk to me, I really want to try.
It’s as if there’s a mirror in front of me.
I see myself in the mirror. The girl’s tears are flowing. It’s as if the world is frozen into ice; everything is dark and quiet, just like a cold, gray winter.
Everything has lost its color, that’s how the girl looks.’
‘This is a moving story of kind-heartedness and humanity. The girls give each other a gift. The rich girl gives the poor one her shoes, but most of all she gives her attention.’
VÅRT LAND
Angelina Jordan Astar (2006–) won Norway’s got talent 2014 with her beautiful Billie Holliday voice, and she went viral with her songs. She has millions of hits on YouTube and is huge in the US and Germany. Her first cd is on the way in the US by PRMD; the same music label as Avicii.
When Angelina goes on stage to sing, she is always bare-footed. The book that she has written herself, Mellom to hjerter, explains why.

KLATREMUS AND THE OTHER ANIMALS IN THE HAKKEBAKKE FOREST
KLATREMUS OG DE ANDRE DYRENE I HAKKEBAKKESKOGEN
The Hakkebakke Forest is a small world which, in many ways, resembles our own bigger world. Klatremus and Morten and Daddy Ted and Mikkel and all the others in the forest are animals and look like animals too, but they also wear clothes and walk on two legs and live in houses, and remind us a lot of people in what they do and say, and how they think. Also in the Hakkebakke Forest is, as it is with us in the big world, a desire for peace and safety and respect for everyone.

They even build a new house with an underground tunnel to the old house. Suddenly they hear Jens cry out in pain. He has a terrible tooth ache. Karius and Baktus can hear Jens’ mother insist on him brushing his teeth, and the happy days are threatened. Then one day Jens goes to the dentist…

COME ALONG AND JOIN US IN THE FANTASTIC WORLD OF THORBJØRN EGNER!
No other books have left such an impression on children growing up in Norway as these books have; the songs, the texts and the characters have become national institutions. And because Thorbjørn Egner was both the illustrator and the writer, the relationship between the pictures and texts is bound in a very special way.
Very few authors get closer to the child’s imagination than Egner does. KariusogBaktus has also been immortalized in Ivo Caprino’s puppet film, and a full-scale Cardamom Town has been built at Kristiansand Zoo. Not only are Egner’s stories performed on stage in many countries, his books have, to date, been translated into 26 languages. And despite being published more than 50 years ago, they are still as popular as ever.
‘The brilliance of Egner comes from his ability to tell his stories in such a way that children can understand and fantasize about them. The fantastic and adventurous tales are stamped with a naïve and authentic label.’

LION READERS
Well over 1 million first reader books have been sold since the publication of the first Lion Reader in 1988. Now the Lions are out in a terrific new design!
THE LION READERS COME AT SEVERAL LEVELS OF DIFFICULTY:
LION CUB, 4–7 YEARS
In the autumn of 2010 we launched Lion Cubs for 4- to 7-year-olds. The books are printed in capital letters and have only one sentence per page. Perfect for the earliest readers!
MY FIRST LION READER, 6–9 YEARS
These books suit children who know all the capital letters and can read a little, but still find lower case letters unfamiliar. The text is formulated so that it should be as easy to read as possible and so offer the less practised readers the joy of a wonderful experience: to read a whole book on your own.
LION READER, 7–11 YEARS
The Lion Readers with their short lines and large letters are made for easy reading. The children will find a subject they care for, be it football, animals, loving somebody or monsters.
LION PLUS, 9–12 YEARS
Everyone who knows about the Lion readers will quickly find his or her way through the Lion Plus series. The books are created for slightly older children who may have had less reading practice than they need. The text in each book is still quite short and interspersed with illustrations, but the size of the letters is somewhat smaller.
WHERE IS THE BRAIN?
HVOR ER HJERNEN?
Victor is not just a monster but is also terribly messy. When he and his dad are about to go to school, he discovers that he's mislaid his brain.
A book in the Lion Cub-series with a monstrously funny, spooky twist.

THE PRESS ABOUT BRAGE’S STORY:
‘This is horrifying, thought-provoking and action-packed. ... It is the commonplaceness of this book that makes it so frighteningly powerful. The book is exciting and has action and drive – as well as love. I can’t see why it would not be a hit with young readers of dystopian fiction.’
DAGBLADET

THIS IS OUR BIGGEST POTENTIAL ACTION STORY FOR EXPORT.
‘A serious doomsday novel that pushes the limits of what a young adult book can contain. ... The first part is a credible depiction of the development of a global crisis as seen through Brage’s eyes. It successfully demonstrates how our modern media reality gives everything a sense of the unreal ... It [the picture painted by Brage] is a complex, psychological portrait of a rare and complicated character in Norwegian young adult literature ... It is dark, and it is intense.’

THE PRESS ABOUT MARLEN’S STORY:
’The story is like a clenched fist in the stomach, and I would not be surprised if yet another Young People’s Prize for Literature awaits him.’
DAGBLADET HELGEAVISA
‘Sigbjørn Mostue always writes well, and this fast-moving and absorbing novel is no exception. Marlen’s Story is both entertaining and thought-provoking. Is nature taking such a brutal revenge? Are we facing an unstoppable epidemic?’
ROMERIKES BLAD
‘A virus is creating a pandemic where infected people go mad and attack everybody around. It becomes a struggle between life and death and a moral struggle to make the right choices. … Can it be morally defensible to kill people who are obviously sick? Can social cohesion be maintained in an extreme situation which can easily develop into everybody for himself or herself?’

She is clearheaded and strong and knows what she wants. This only makes the age-old question for abusive relationships all the more valid: why does she stay?
Fordi jeg elsker deg recognises that violence against women is not age-related, and Helene Uri's novel can be read by young adults as well as teenagers.
‘ Because I Love You is a classic young person's novel, in the best sense. It is about love; close bonds between girl friends; relationships between parents and children; feelings which swing between ecstasy and pure fear; the first sexual experiences. It is also about having a power-mad lover, who gradually turns violent. Uri handles these themes gently and credibly as she describes the swings of Elin's emotional pendulum, from intense love to despair, till she doesn't even trust her nearest and dearest.’
DAGBLADET
‘Helene Uri manages to build up an atmosphere throughout the whole book which means that you just have to go on reading to find out what happens on the next page.’

CHILDREN’S BOOK ABOUT ASTRID LINDGREN
This book about Astrid Lindgren is an inspired illustrated biography that provides children with knowledge about the person, author, editor and dedicated contributor to the community that was Astrid Lindgren. Through stories, quotes, facts and magical illustrations, we become familiar with one of the world's greatest children's authors.
The book follows a classic chronological development from Astrid's happy childhood to her old age in Stockholm. The book explores important, exciting and humorous episodes in Astrid’s life and work. We hear about her love of nature, her lifelong joy of playing and climbing trees, reading and writing, and fighting for children's and animal rights. But we also hear about her life's many dark moments – her life as a young and impoverished single mother, her longing for love, and – as she so often expressed it – the experience of «how difficult it can be to be human».
This biography is a unique starting point for inspiring new generations to read Astrid Lindgren's books.
‘The tightly written and inspired text and the fine art illustrations together capture the tone of Lindgren's life and universe and make the biography of the year a pure joy.’
DAGBLADET
‘This biography of a fine person and a great writer is a precious pearl which should be appreciated far beyond the bounds of Norway.'

PLASTIC WASTE IN THE SEA
People first started making plastic out of oil in a large amount in 1950.
Paper and apple cores break up quickly in the sea, but plastic doesn't. We're producing more and more plastic every year. Researchers think that there are around 100 million tons of plastic floating around in the sea. This waste, which respects no national borders, is carried away by the ocean currents and distributed over the whole of the earth. In thirty years, there will be more plastic than fish in the sea if we carry on dumping at the same rate as we are now. What can we do?
The polluters are the ones who have responsibility for what they are dumping in the sea. The politicians must pass laws and regulations in their own countries and work with other countries to clean up the ocean. But we can also do a lot where we live.
Researchers are working to find ways to collect up all the millions of tons that are floating out at sea. And it's urgent!

HOW OLD CAN A TIGER BE?
A BOOK ABOUT PI THE CAT AND WHY NOT ALL CREATURES LIVE AS LONG AS EACH OTHER
HVOR GAMMEL BLIR EN TIGER?
In this book, Bjørn Arild Ersland tries to find out why not everything in nature can live for the same length of time.
Pi the Cat is 12 years old and the vet thinks she's an old lady now. But a 12-year-old girl is still a child. Why do some things get older much quicker than others? How do some creatures manage to live for an extremely long time?
Bjørn Arild Ersland (1965–) has written several books for children and young people, including Sageren and Det første barnet på månen, and the popular picture books about Emilie and her brother.

SOLSYSTEMET
In this book, Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard tells us about our neighbour planets in space and what we have found out about them in recent years.
Imagine mountains that are three times higher than Mount Everest, layers of ice that are many kilometres thick, and the mysterious and beautiful but ice-cold planets that float through space.
We also follow the history of the solar system from its very beginning to the time when the sun will eventually end up as a tiny little remnant of a star.
Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard (1966–) is an astrophysicist and previously worked as a researcher at the Institute of Astrophysics at the University of Oslo.
IDA
47 million years ago there lived an ape-like little creature in a jungle in Germany. Today she is best known to the world as the fossil Ida. In this wonderful, illustrated picture book we learn how she lived.
When paleontologist Jørn Hurum introduced Ida to the world's media in 2009, she became a scientific sensation. Ida is our very own 47 million year old ancestor, and this picture book written by Jørn Hurum and Torstein Helleve from the Natural History Museum and illustrated by Esther van Hulsen brings Ida to life once again.
The reader is taken on a journey to the jungle that Ida lived in as part of a stunningly illustrated tale of her life, where we follow her through dangers and triumphs. In addition to a fictionalised picture book section based on what we know about Ida and the time that she lived, the book also includes a fact and activity section.
‘Researcher and Ida's "father" Jørn Hurum and web editor of the museum, Torstein Helleve, write passionately and vividly, but first and foremost it is the large spreads of illustrations by Esther van Hulsen which pull the reader into the prehistoric universe. Both Ida herself and all the animals, which are identified in a silhouette overview at the end of the book, are painted colorfully and beautifully by the Dutch illustrator, who has drawn a lot for museums and zoos’
