GRANDNANA In her unmistakable style, Anna Fiske renders the portrait of a long life through playful, honest, humorous and unsentimental illustrations. Lukas is nine years old. Grandnana is ninety. Lukas visits her at the nursing home. He is curious about Grandnana’s life: What has she seen, loved, touched, looked like and felt since 1916, when she was born? Grandnana is a philosophical picture book about family bonds and human connection across age gaps. It is also a brilliant conversation starter between children and their parents, grandparents – or great-grandparents. It is suitable for ages six and up.

Oldemor 236 x 175 mm / 64 pages 3–99 years

Children may have lots of fun reading this book by themselves, with all its “time travelling”, but Grandnana reaches its full potential when you read it aloud together. Yes, it’s almost kind of sad to read it without a child in one’s lap, because here there are good conversations and some new insights to be had, both for children and grown-ups. DAGBLADET No-one is better at telling stories of older people's interactions with children, than Anna Fiske. Grandnana is, in all its simplicity, perhaps the finest book she has created on the subject. BARNEBOKKRITIKK.NO

The author uses the narrator’s perspective to level the challenges faced; friendship and crushes are just as important as living in two homes, or having annoying younger siblings. The described setting, the characters and the contained drama of everyday life creates a tone reminiscent of Astrid Lindgren’s childhood tales. DAG OG TID

DEATH “Oh no! A book about death, and I’m in it…” Mikkel really doesn’t want to be in a book about death. Because in books like that, people end up dying, don’t they? But when the narrator starts to tell the story, Mikkel gets curious. Why do people die? What happens in the body when people die? And what does it mean to say that the dead “return to earth”? Death is a graphic non-fiction book that takes death seriously – in a seriously funny way.

LISTEN UP! Mahmoud is almost sixteen, and didn’t apply for a job this summer. That’s because people named “Mahmoud Mahrouf” don’t get job interviews. He lives on the 13th floor of a high-rise building in an Oslo suburb. Summer approaches, and he is expecting dull days of hanging around with his one-eyed mate, Arif from Somalia, while the white and rich Norwegians have ditched Oslo for one of their numerous summerhouses.

Hør her'a! 130 x 205 mm 12–18 years

But there is a change of plans when Mahmoud’s uncle ji from Pakistan arrives. Mahmoud gets the job of showing him Oslo, but uncle ji is sceptical of both Mahmoud’s family and Norwegian society. Uncle also wonders what’s wrong with Ali, Mahmoud’s younger brother, who would rather play dress-up than behave like a good Pakistani boy. Before the end of the holidays, Mahmoud will be put to the test in more than one way. Listen up! is a firework of a novel. With its originality, its distinct voice and its impeccable comedic timing, it paints a vivid and hilarious picture of coming of age a minority community, and the greater society surrounding it. From parents to politicians – nothing and nobody escapes the mercilessly funny eyes of this author. Listen up! is a future classic.

Gulraiz Sharif (b.1984) is from Oslo, and works as a teacher. He makes his author’s debut with Listen up! 64

TOMORROW EVERYTHING WILL BE DARK Brage is a normal teenager living a normal life with good friends and his family. One day, disturbing news come from Japan: A large group of people are running wild. Blinded by rage, they wreak havoc on everything and everyone in their way. At first, the news do not make the headlines. But when what appears to be a virus spreads to China, and millions are killed as a result, people begin to take notice. The Internet crashes, TV broadcasts stop, people flee, society collapses – and soon, the virus will reach Europa…

Brage is soon faced with impossible choices when his family and group of friends are torn apart. People he knows and relies on are infected and creating chaos. There’s only one option for survival – seeking refuge in the forest. Soon there is an entire community living in the forest, while those infected lay waste to the towns. But is the community safe from infection? Could even the greatest threat be found within their own ranks? Tomorrow everything will be dark is a dystopian trilogy of uncanny relevance. At the core of its narrative lies the fragility of human society.

Terrifyingly ordinary. It’s chilling, thought-provoking and action-packed. … Precisely the ordinariness is the terrifying strength of this book: that it could happen to us … DAGBLADET Sigbjørn Mostue (b. 1969) has a degree in the History of Ideas and has worked as an editor.
