JUNE EDITION, VOLUME 2024, NO. 6
A MID-YEAR CHECKUP As we near the mid-point of 2024, it’s hard to believe I’m 6 months into my new role at the Capital Medical Society (CMS). It’s been a whirlwind-in a great way-as I’ve learned the ropes, engaged with many of you, developed an even stronger appreciation for the commitment you make to the medical profession, and realized the significant role that CMS plays as the membership association that is the connective tissue in the local physician and medical community. EXCELLENT, including last month’s presentation by Dr. Narlin Beaty on New Interventions for Acute Strokes. If you haven’t done so already, save the dates August 27, September 17, and October 15 for the remaining meetings this year.
These points have crystalized for me at our signature events-the CMSF auction, the Presidential Installation, and especially at the Celebration Awards Dinner in late March, where a pair of outstanding physicians were honored, and the respect, admiration, and appreciation from their peers in the room were palpable.
While you’re reserving your calendar, block out September 7th for CMS Family Day. IMAX, planetarium, food trucks, and fun-coming soon at the Challenger Learning Center. Lastly, be on the lookout for dues renewals, which will drop in a few weeks. A complete list of membership benefits is included on page 5 of this month’s Cap Scan. As always, if you have any comments, questions, or concerns, please reach out to me.
To the tried and true CMS recipe, we’re now adding some new ingredients to the mix, including the inaugural CMS Pickleball Clinic staged at the end of May. Dr. Ray Dolly served as our ace instructor for a cohort with various skill levels but similar smiles during the event. Perhaps in future years the clinic will evolve to include a tournament or fundraiser-we’ll see.
Wishing you a happy, healthy, and safe summer!
Our membership meeting/CME dinners are on hiatus through the summer, but so far the 2024 slate has been
