2018 CELEBRATION AWARDS DINNER By Shannon Boyle, CMS Communications and Events Coordinator The seventeenth annual Celebration Awards Dinner honored Dr. Duncan Postma and Dr. John Mahoney. The event was held in honor of Doctors’ Day on March 29th at the FSU University Center Club. There was a room full of proud supporters of the award winners. Dr. Duncan Postma was awarded the I.B. Harrison, M.D. Humanitarian Award, and Dr. John Mahoney was awarded the Outstanding Physician Award. Our CMS President, Dr. David Dixon, did a great job emceeing the event. Dr. Dixon thanked the Celebration Awards Dinner Steering Committee and the Capital Medical Society staff for their hard work in organizing and coordinating this event.

Lucas Koberda, Dr. Frank Lomagistro, and Dr. Mary Norton. We welcome them to the Tallahassee medical community.

Dr. Dixon recognized eight CMS members who retired this past year: Dr. Ken Brummel-Smith, Dr. Robert Hoyne, Dr. William Kepper, Dr. J. Brian Sheedy, Dr. Robert Snyder, Dr. Curtis Stine, Dr. David Tedrick, and Dr. Richard Zorn. We wish them well in their retirement. A moment of silence was held to honor several medical colleagues who passed away this past year: Dr. Marcos Barrera, Dr. Lewis Brodsky, Dr. Francis “Bud” Huber, Dr. Peter Ivory, and Dr. William Smith, Jr. Dr. Dixon thanked the referring and donating providers in the We Care Network. He noted that We Care Network donating providers donated more than $10 million in care last year and a cumulative total of more than $90 million in the last 26 years. CONTINUED ON PAGE 3
