The LabelStar® Labeling System With over 40 years of experience in manufacturing customized packaging equipment, Capmatic has become a world leader in designing and building pressure sensitive labeling systems to meet today’s demanding packaging applications. This includes front, side, back, top, under or corner wrap labels being applied to either glass, plastic or metal bottles, cardboard cases or wooden pallets. Using proven industry technologies, these labeling systems can be equipped with a choice of labeling heads to suit your speed, application and budget requirements. Combined with a selection of panel controls and an assortment of package and handling systems, these are the most versatile labelers on the market today. For fast and simple setups, all Capmatic labelers include a self learning photostop sensing system, built-in to the labeling head. This ensures precise stopping and positioning of the label. To meet current GMP requirements, these units are designed utilizing Capmatic’s monoblock frame. In general, the standard systems are built with a “monoframe” structure to enclose most of the air hoses, electrical wires and cables, making the unit easier to clean and maintain.

LabelStar® System 1 Eco For less demanding applications, the LabelStar System 1 Eco is a more economical labeler having similar features and capabilities as the System 1 labeler but operating at slower speeds. LabelStar® System 1

Stepper Motor Technology

The Capmatic LabelStar System 1 labeler is designed to apply a partial or full wrap around label to round bottles. This is done using a motorized wrap around system that electronically synchronizes the speed of the labeling head with the speed of the container. Typically, speeds from 10 to 300* BPM can be achieved depending on the labeling head chosen and the length of the label.

To ensure accurate and repeatable label placement, all Capmatic labelers use stepper motor technology. This feature provides long term accuracy and eliminates the service requirements associated with systems which use clutches and brakes.

These systems can be equipped with a choice of labeling heads with different size wrap around systems in conjunction with various indexing systems to suit your speed and application requirements. This includes feed screw, indexing wheel or double belt bottle separator.

Combined with a unique “push-pull” feed mechanism, those systems relieve almost all tension from the backing paper, resulting in improved label placement accuracies (up to 0.5mm (.02”)) and virtually no web breakage at any speed.

LabelStarÂŽ System 2/1 The LabelStar System 2/1 is designed to apply a single label with accuracies of 0.5mm (.02â€?) on oval, rectangular,square or any flat surface. The System 2/1 can also be easily equipped to accomodate different shapes and sizes of bottles and labels. (Based on the options selected, this unit can be easily configured to apply three, four or five panel labels). Capable of integrating one of the best developed top hold-down belt conveyors available on the market today, this system ensures extremely accurate and reliable movement of the packages throughout the labeling process. With its straight forward push button controls and standard motorized height adjustment, the System 2/1 is easy to setup and operate.

LabelStarÂŽ System 2/2T The Capmatic LabelStar System 2/2T is one of the most versatile labeling machines designed to simultaneously apply a front and back label on rectangular, square, oval or flat surface, as well as full or partial wrap around label on round bottles. Similar to the System 2/1, the System 2/2T has two labeling heads, a synchronized top hold-down belt conveyor and a motorized wrap around system. The System 2/2T is ideal for the pharmaceutical industry. It is built around a low profile stainless steel base and is very easy to clean and maintain. For added flexibility, the System 2/2T labeling heads are mounted on a heavy duty positioning system which can be reset quickly for specific production runs.

With a Versator chain driven indexing and centering device, this labeler ensures each bottle is perfectly positioned and aligned under the top hold-down belt, prior to labeling. A self learning device on the photostop make label changeovers fast and easy. Typically production changeovers are approximately 15 minutes or less. The labeling head and all other adjustable components have scale references or numeric counters to simplify and minimize downtimes. The top hold-down belt height adjustment and speed controls are easily synchronized by the operator at the main panel control.

Handling Systems Capmatic can engineer a labeling machine to suit its customer needs. A variety of add-on components is available to satisfy the many labeling requirements for pressure sensitive labels. The following photos depicts some of the typical components that can be included with our systems.

Orbitorâ„˘

An orbiting positioning device for oval or odd shaped bottles. Using a feed screw seperator to index the container onto the mechanical orbital positioning fingers, this system provides perfect container positioning for application of the label.

Versatorâ„˘

The Versator handling system is a rotary disk separator and soft chain driven alignment system, ideal for shaped bottles. Once aligned, the bottle is accurately held in position for labeling, by the top hold-down belt conveyor. Three panel label applicator using a mechanical adjustable pressure wiping doors.

MonoStar Pharma™ Labeler Unique to the packaging industry, the Capmatic MonoStar Pharma™ features an automatic continuous motion to apply a partial or total wrap around pressure sensitive labels onto unstable container like vials, ampoules as well as syringes at high speeds. To handle awkward products,the MonoStar Pharma™ can be configured with infeed and outfeed trays that gently load and gather the container before and after labeling.

The MonoStar Pharma™ uses a starwheel transporting system with custom cradles to index each container. During the labeling process, the container is held in place by a retaining bar while guided by low friction side bearings to permit a smooth rotation during labeling, to prevent damage to the container and to ensure perfect positioning of the label compared to standard inline system.

For more demanding requirements, the MonoStar Pharma™ can be equipped with a Vision System connected to the PLC, that can verify the integrity of bar codes, hot stamp, and presence and alignment of a label on a container.

The system can include a lockable bin to ensure product control. A positive mechanical tracking and reject confirmation of faulty container is integrated to the system reject station.

MonoStar Pharma™ system can be reconfigured $ with a special motorized transporting conveyor with indexing system to accommodate syringes. Label applications, bar code reading, automatic inspection, and control of accepted and/or rejected components through their own dedicated outfeed chutes. Note: Any third party vision systems can be integrated to customers specific needs.

Non-Stop Labeling System

LabelStarÂŽ 1/1S The Capmatic LabelStar System 1/1S is designed for non-stop high speed labeling of round bottles up to 300 BPM*. Using two labeling heads, the heavy duty System 1/1S is used to apply one wrap around label up to 150mm in height. With its state-of-the-art sensing and electronic controls, the System 1/1S maximizes productivity by switching seamlessly from one label system to the other. This provides continuous labeling of the containers while the operator reloads the empty reel.

Each labeling head includes an alarm to indicate a web breakage or the end of a roll. Equipped with either Capmaticâ€™s standard push button control panel or optional PLC based touch screen control panel, the LabelStar System 1/1S is easy to setup and operate.

To ensure proper synchronization with the label dispenser, each labeling station is equipped with a motorized disk release system, which indexes the bottles according to the speed of the labeling station in operation. As labels fed from one station are depleted or missing due to a web break, the disk control and back pressure plate on the wrap around disengage allowing the secondary station to engage and continue the process. The System 1/1S includes a reject station to collect bottles without labels.

RotoStarâ„˘ Rotary Labeling System The Capmatic RotoStar is our fastest labeling system, capable of processing up to 500 BPM*. Built on our proven monoblock frame, the RotoStar can apply pressure sensitive labels to the top, neck, shoulder, front, or back for either round or shaped bottles. For complex labeling, the RotoStar can be configured to apply up to five different labels. Bottles are delivered by a feed screw to an infeed starwheel. This transfers the bottles to individual

holding plates where the bottles are clamped from the top by a centering chuck. Bottles are then presented to the different stations by the rotating plates. Standard features include: & Motorized height adjustment system. & Touch screen panel control. & Ramp-up/ramp-down speed control. & Safety clutch on infeed and outfeed starwheel. & Automatic bottle stopper in the event of an alarm. & Interchangeable wiping unit.

Choice of Panel Controls With a choice of either a push button control panel or touch screen control, each of Capmatic’s labeling systems can be equipped to suit a wide variety of needs and budgets. Neatly integrated with each machine, the standard control console is mounted on a tubular stainless steel pedestal.

Optional PLC based control ensures simplicity of operation and troubleshooting, including fail safe no bottle machine stop safety, ensuring package integrity. Enunciator lights are included to indicate operational status. “On/Off” and Emergency Stop switches are standard.

Hot Stamp Coder Available on all Capmatic labelers, the GSCE 46 is an interchangeable cassette type hot foil printing unit for the overprinting of variable data on pressure sensitive labels before application on the product. Capmatic can install most other brands of hot stamp coders to suit your specific requirements.

Eagle Eyesâ„˘ Detection System Available on most Capmatic Labeling Systems, the $ Eagle Eyes detection system is an electronic capacitive sensor used to monitor label registration and/or count labels. The sensor will output a signal indicating the leading or trailing edge of the label as it passes through the sensor.
