SPOONS
SHOW PROGRAMME
ABOUT SPOONS
Formed in 1980, the band Spoons from Burlington, Ontario, became a defining force in 80s pop and New Wave music with hits like “Nova Heart” and “Romantic Traffic.” Their influential album “Arias & Symphonies” earned accolades, and they gained popularity opening for major acts and through music videos on MuchMusic.
Their first album, “Stick Figure Neighbourhood,” recorded with engineer Daniel Lanois, reached #1 on college radio. The band collaborated with notable producers like John Punter and Nile Rodgers, leading to more hits and a growing fan base. Despite the rise of grunge music in the late 80s, the retro 80s movement revived their popularity, culminating in the release of “Collectible Spoons” in 1994.
The Spoons continued to evolve, releasing new music, including “Static In Transmission” in 2010 and “New Day New World” in 2019, while celebrating anniversaries of their classic albums. They received awards and recognition, including the “Back In The Spotlight Award” and released a comprehensive Greatest Hits collection in 2020. Their legacy endures as they adapt to new musical landscapes while still resonating with fans of the 80s.
