Air Products canceled its $4.5 billion Louisiana Clean Energy Complex, putting an end to a controversial hydrogen and carbon capture project that proponents saw as a jobs engine and opponents feared would pollute Lake Maurepas. The project, one of many proposed in recent years to take advantage of cleanenergy tax credits, aimed to pipe carbon dioxide emissions, a byproduct of its activities, through Louisiana wetlands and

Products said the project wasn’t going to pay off the way it needed to. The cancellation is part of a series of canceled projects that will cost the company up to $2.9 billion, before tax savings. Air Products said that it would continue to fulfill contractual obligations around CLINT COINTMENT, Ascension Parish president Lake Maurepas and in Ascension Parish related to the project, and thanked “agento the lake where it would be stored about cies, business and community partners, government officials, legislators, and a mile underground. Tony Spell was captured on a law enforcement bodycam calling the alleged victim a slur and threatening his father. In East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff ’s Office bodycam footage taken by deputies between 4:40 a.m. and 5 a.m. June 23, Spell Spell used an antigay slur to refer to the man he also said he “beat the crap” out of. “He’s just sore because I beat the crap out of his f***** boy,” Spell said. “And he’s next if he comes over here and harasses these boys” he said, referring to some teenagers alongside him. Deputies were dispatched to the area near the pastor’s church in Central that morning after his neighbor, Scott Sherwin, called and complained that Spell was across the street from his house mowing the church lawn around 4 a.m. Sherwin, whose son was attacked by Spell last week, has had an ongoing feud with the pastor since

council members have been called to testify, other sources said. Williams recused himself, and a special prosecutor, former criminal court judge Laurie White, has been tapped to lead the probe. The grand jury began calling in witnesses a few weeks ago, multiple sources said. Its members are said to be considering if Murrill committed a crime in her messages toward the seven officials in which she told them their jobs

The attorney general and city leaders clashed after the Republican-led Legislature cleared a bill removing the city’s criminal clerk position — and along with it the popular clerk-elect, former life prisoner Calvin Duncan. The bill called for the elected civil clerk, Chelsea Richard Napoleon, to take over a unified office.
