Trey’Dez Green holds football camp

LSU’s Trey’Dez Green grew up just 45 seconds from East Feliciana High School. He remembered walking down the street to school.
He takes pride in being from Jackson, Louisiana, and representing the community Following his sophomore season, Green got the opportunity to give back with a youth football camp he held at East Feliciana High earlier this month.
The camp was free for kids aged 6 through 14 years old
“It means a lot to me,” Green said. “Being from here, being from the state
of Louisiana, and being from the city of Jackson. The turnout was amazing, everybody came out and supported me and I’m thankful for everybody.”
Green had wanted to do a youth camp since he joined LSU as a freshman two years ago. Entering his junior year, he felt he had the resources to put a camp together
“We got the resources to do it, why not give back to the community that has just pushed me and poured so much into me,” he said.
He described the full circle moment of hosting a football camp at the same place he was once a student, playing high school football.
“I have never thought that I would be
out here,” Green said. “Just be a leader for this community I just want the kids to know that they can too, minus all the haters and the doubters that tell them that they can’t.”
Green, who graduated from Zachary High, wanted the kids at the camp to see that they can also make a name for themselves and represent the East Feliciana community He loved what he saw from the kids at the camp.
“We’ve got some dogs out here at East Feliciana,” Green said. “For all the coaches out there listening, come down and check us out.”
The camp included position drills, skills tests like races, and one-on-one drills between receivers and defensive
backs. Green enjoyed seeing the effort shown by the kids.
“I saw the grit and the will to want,” he said. “They could’ve used their free will and come out here and half-sprinted, not jogged, not been intent, but they came out here and gave 110%.
“That’s all we just ask for,” he continued. “They were amazing. I love to see the smiles on their face. They made my day.”
He hopes to keep the camp going as an annual event in the summer Green wants to keep giving back to the community that poured into him and pushed him to be great.
Let’s catch up on Zachary summer sports
After a too-short summer break where I hiked the Colorado Rockies in zero percent humidity and temperatures that rarely got over 80 degrees, I returned to the heat and rain that I ignorantly thought would have eased
So what has been happening while I have been gone with Zachary’s sports, and what is going on around Zachary as we collectively fight the heat and flooding conditions?
Future Bronco youth have been jumping, shooting, spiking and running in summer sports camps. The most recent summer camp was the Zachary High youth wrestling sum-
mer camp hosted by coach Ben McHugh, staff and current female and male wrestlers. Earlier this month, the ZHS wrestling team hosted and participated in the Jeff Ragan Wrestling Camp. Former Bronco track and football, and LSU track star

After a short break, the 2026 Zachary High football team has begun off-season workouts under the tutelage of strength and conditioning coach Richard Johnson. Johnson will be working with all Zachary athletes and enters his second year overseeing the program.
Johnson has worked at all levels from defensive coordinator and strength coach at Northwestern Middle School (yes the one in Zachary) to working as a strength and conditioning coach at Southern, Prairie View A&M, University of
Rhode Island and University of Maine where he has worked with athletes in multiple sports.
Johnson has also interned or apprenticed as a strength and conditioning coach at Springfield College, Auburn, Georgia Tech and Georgia State. Johnson’s wife, Morgan, is a kindergarten teacher at Northwestern Elementary School.
