Zachary High art department shines at annual show

The Zachary High School Art Department had a big night at the Baton Rouge Gallery on April 1.

Two Zachary High students earned second and third places in the annual BR Gallery “Real Life Experience” Juried Student Art Show Evan Selser placed second, and Carlynn Vessel placed third. The top three winners receive a cash award.

The opening reception displayed over 100 pieces of work from over 200 entries in the East Baton Rouge Parish area Zachary High had the largest number of selected entries from both East Baton Rouge Parish public and private schools.

The show also features a teacher’s art section: Zachary High art teachers Megan Buccere and Lauren Conerly had pieces selected for the show

The showcase is open to the public through April 26 and is free of charge.

Other Zachary students in the show include Marlee Ballmer, Gabriel Barnette, Jacoby Foster, Quinn Langley, Abigail Papenburg, Kai-li Thomas, Peyton Upton, John Varmall and Alisha Youngblood.

Zachary represented on 5A all-state team

The Baton Rouge area was well represented on the LSWA Class 5A all-state team released Wednesday On the boys side, Zachary guard Ian Edmond earned first-team honors He averaged 19.7 points, three steals, three assists and three rebounds He was critical in the Broncos’ path to repeating as state champions and was named outstanding player in the title game.

Central senior Jace Conrad was a member of the second team. He averaged 16.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists. Conrad helped guide the No. 6-seeded Wildcats back to the Division I nonselect semifinals.

Denham Springs junior Jeremy Williams also earned second-team honors He helped the Yellow Jackets reach the semifinals after he averaged 15 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals.

ter leading his team to a second straight state title and a 33-4 record. On the girls side, Zachary senior Ava Raymond was named outstanding player She averaged 17.4 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two assists. Raymond was the lone returning starter to the Broncos and helped lead them to a second straight state title. She scored the game-winning basket against Slidell in the championship game.

The Zachary High powerlifting team, under Jason Davis, competed in the East regional and State powerlifting tournament and provided some impressive performances.

At the East Regional, Gabby Anthony and Megan Roussell won their weight classes and Nilah Duhe came in second place. Anthony broke the regional squat record with an amazing squat of 450 (the previous record was 405) and broke the total record for the three lifts with a total of 1055 (the previous record was 985) She was also named the Women’s Most Outstanding Lifter

Lane announces promotion, expands behavioral health team

Lane Hospital has announce the promotion of a long-standing team member and the addition of two experienced mental health professionals.

Licensed register nurse Courtney Day has been promoted to director of Professional Development. A member of the Lane family for more than 22 years, Day has led professional development and education initiatives for the past 15 years, supporting employee growth, regulatory compliance, and quality and safety efforts across the organization, a news release said.

“Courtney’s commitment to education and quality has had a meaningful impact on our teams and our patients,” said Chief Quality Officer Brittany Casey. “Her leadership and experience make her an excellent choice for this role.”

Lane Health and Wellness Clinic has also expanded its behavioral health team with the addition of Dandridge Adolph and Justine Worsham. Adolph brings more than 20 years of experience providing client-centered, holistic

mental health care to children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Her background includes private practice, hospital and schoolbased services, and leadership in community mental health settings.

“Lane Health and Wellness Clinic is deeply committed to integrated, compassionate care,” Dandridge Adolph said “I’m honored to join a team that supports individuals and families at every stage of life.”

Worsham joins the clinic with more than 13 years of experience in behavioral health, correctional mental health, intensive outpatient programs, and foster care.

“I’m excited to be part of a collaborative team that prioritizes integrity and meaningful client outcomes,” Worsham said. “I’m passionate about helping individuals build resilience and lasting change.”

“Kristy and Justine each bring exceptional skill, compassion, and leadership to our behavioral health team,” said Lane Physician Practice Director Patty Williams. “Their combined experience strengthens our ability to provide high-quality, patient-centered care across our community.”
