Entsch cops a hammering from opponents
Rivals not happy By MATT NICHOLLS
POLITICAL opponents of LNP candidate Warren Entsch have lined up to take a shot at the MP after last week’s telecommunications announcement for the Cape. Mark Bailey, the champion for
Lockhart River and a high-profile state Labor minister, said it was “too little too late”. He also took offence to comments made by Mr Entsch on ABC Radio in Brisbane, which he interpreted as the MP blaming Lockhart River mayor Wayne Butcher
and the council for the ongoing telecommunication mess in their community. “It’s sad to see him lying, just like Scott Morrison does regularly, to cover up his obvious failure as the local MP,” Mr Bailey said. “To hear Mr Entsch ‘do a Mor-
rison’ on Mayor Butcher is a dog act over what is clearly a federal government responsibility, and he should be ashamed of himself.” Katter’s Australian Party candidate Rod Jensen said the LNP had used the telecommunications problem for political gain.
“The problems have been around for ever, so isn’t it interesting that as soon as an election arrives there’s money available to fix it,” he said. Labor candidate Elida Faith was also critical of the timing. Election coverage – Pages 12 to 16
