Weipa motorists feel the greed of fuel supplier

Viva’s great rip-off

WEIPA motorists continue to get ripped off at the bowser as a result of Viva Energy.

Despite the fact fuel is shipped directly to Weipa’s port, the cost of unleaded and diesel is higher in Weipa than in Alice Springs.

Viva Energy won’t respond to Cape York Weekly regarding its obscene gate price for fuel at Weipa, which is 25 cents per litre more expensive than Cairns.

As of Monday morning, the cost of fuel at the Weipa Servicentre was $2.22 for unleaded and $2.19 for diesel.

At Cooktown, unleaded was $1.95 and diesel was $2.15 – even though that fuel is trucked from Cairns.

Weipa motorists are being hurt

by Viva Energy’s ridiculous gate prices, which are some of the highest in the country. Weipa Servicentre is contractually obligated to make its pricing calculations based off Viva’s gate prices.

Viva is charging $1.82 for unleaded at Weipa, but the cost at Cairns is $1.57. Even Port Lincoln in South Australia is being charged $1.57 for unleaded.

Diesel is more expensive around the country but Weipa is still a victim to Viva Energy’s price gouging with a gate price of $1.84 per litre, much higher than the $1.74 that Cairns is charged or Brisbane’s $1.70 per litre.

The reduction of the federal government’s cut to the fuel exicse tax has yet to be seen in the Far North, with experts predicting the 22 cents per litre reduction to appear later this week.

CAPE York residents are invited to next week’s quarterly Lakeland Irrigation Area Scheme community meeting for an update on the proposed dam that will more than triple Lakeland’s irrigated area and provide water security for landholders.

Regional Development Australia Tropical North chair David Kempton and project manager Brendan Short from SMEC will discuss the latest developments and answer questions.

Mr Kempton said the project would give the Lakeland com-

munity access to an affordable and reliable water supply and underpin jobs and growth in Cape York.

“This will enable the expansion of agricultural activities, the potential to grow higher value and more diverse crops, and provide the security landholders need to invest in their businesses for the long-term,” he said.

“The project will enable substantial expansion of agriculture and horticulture from Lakeland, supporting food security for our nation.”

“We are currently working on a detailed business case to be presented to the federal government in September to enable a focused funding package to be developed.”

Mr Short said a great deal of progress had taken place since the last community meeting in September, with the reference design phase now complete.

“We will discuss the type of dam to be built, the preferred tunnel transfer option, and the configuration of the irrigation supply network,” he said.

“Landholders will also gain an understanding of the factors driving water pricing and the key economic and environmental elements being addressed in the business case.”

The Lakeland Irrigation Area Scheme proposes a 205,000ML dam on the Palmer River.

The water would be gravity fed to Lakeland through a 12 km tunnel. Of the 8000 ha of identified freehold agricultural area in Lakeland, only 1370 ha is under irrigation.

Speaker theft impacts entire community: chair

WEIPA Town Authority chair Michael Rowland has slammed the “selfish” thief who stole speakers from the Kumrumja Centre in two separate incidents.

Police are investigating the theft of multiple speakers stolen from inside the centre.

The speakers, which are used primarily as the state-of-the-art sound system for movies, were stolen via break and enter.

It was the second theft of speakers, with three stolen from outside the centre last year.

Mr Rowland said the WTA was looking into the installation of security cameras inside and around the venue.

“I’m so disappointed by this theft, it’s a selfish act,” he said.

“What they don’t realise, is that this theft directly affects all of the town.

“Not only will it impact the movie experience of the families attending the movies in the April school holidays, but it impacts all of the ratepayers as well.

“Replacing this equipment will have to be paid from the rates budget, meaning less funds

spent on other services or infrastructure. This directly impacts us all.”

Mr Rowland said the theft would have only been possible with the thieves bringing their own tools and ladder, as an access door was damaged to gain entry and the speakers were installed more than two metres above the ground.

“This wasn’t an opportunistic crime. A fair bit of planning has gone into this,” he said.

CAPE York appears to be winning the battle against COVID-19 with case numbers dropping below 200 for the first time since early January.

As of Friday, there were 184 active cases within the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service region.

Thursday Island had the most cases with 48, followed by Weipa (46), Cooktown (18) and Masig Island (10).

To date, accounting for those who have been discharged from quarantine, the region’s health service has recorded 4737 cases of COVID-19.

“I would like to thank all our communities for turning out to be vaccinated over the past year since the start of our vaccination program in March last year,” TCHHS chief executive Bev Hamerton said.

“The current pandemic shows no signs of abating, so we continue to urge people to be vaccinated and fully complete their course of two doses of vaccine plus a booster if they haven’t already done so.

“As well as vaccination, it is important we also continue practising measures such as physical distancing, wearing a mask when unable to distance, handwashing, and staying home if unwell.

“These measures, combined with remaining up to date with your COVID-19 vaccination and your flu vaccination, can minimise the spread of these viruses and reduce the risk of serious illness.

“This is especially important with the risk of other respiratory illnesses such as influenza increasing.

“Influenza has not figured highly in most people’s minds over the past two years of the COVID-19 pandemic and case numbers have been lower than normal over the past two years.

“There were no laboratory-confirmed flu cases in 2021 and only 17 in 2020, compared with 642 cases in 2019, immediately before the pandemic.

“This was primarily due to the various pandemic social distancing, mask-wearing, hand-washing and other hygiene measures.

“With pandemic measures largely no longer in place across the state, the potential for influenza to spread this year is much higher.

“As with COVID, the best protection against influenza is the influenza vaccination. The fluvax is available from this month (April) and is free for those groups at higher risk of severe disease.”

Fuel excise cut in federal budget

REDUCING the cost of living was the centrepiece of the federal government’s budget last week, with a temporary cut in the fuel excise expected to provide some relief at the bowser.

Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch said while there were not a huge amount of “big ticket items” for the Cape in the budget, there was enough to ensure residents would be better off.

“For the next six months, Far North Queenslanders will save 22 cents a litre every time they fill up their car,” he said.

“A family with two cars who fill up once a week could save around $30 a week or around $700 over the next six months.

“Whether you are dropping the kids at school, driving to and from work or visiting family and friends, it will cost less.”

Mr Entsch said the reduction in excise will flow through to lower petrol prices over the next two weeks, as petrol stations replenish their stocks.

“The competition watchdog will closely monitor retailers to make sure these savings are passed on in full,” he said.

“They will also face multi-million dollar fines if they are caught ripping off motorists.”

As reported last week, there was money allocated in the budget for the Peninsula Developmental Road.

Almost $70 million has been added to the allocation to help cover rising costs on the PDR. The budget also contained funds for Cape York councils to manage some of their local infrastructre.

These councils will receive the following payment through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

hard-working local councils means even more funding for upgrades to local roads, bike paths, community halls, playgrounds, parks and sports facilities, as well as improved accessibility to public facilities,” Mr Entsch said.

“Providing more time for planning and construction will enable local governments to consider a broader range of priority projects and potentially undertake larger, more complex developments to deliver even great benefits for their communities.”

Heart of Australia will receive $17 million so it can continue to operate mobile health clinics across the state.

Heart of Australia provides outreach services across regional, rural and remote part of the state, including at Cooktown and Weipa.

“I had the opportunity to travel to Cooktown to see first-hand the amazing work Heart of Australia does. I firmly believe it is an essential service,” Mr Entsch said.

“Their specialised B-Double mobile clinics contain a CT scanner and X-ray which brings mobile cardiology and radiology services to people in regional and remote areas.

“This is particularly important for those living in my vast electorate where it isn’t as simple as just hopping into the car and ducking

down the road to undertake what could essentially be a life-saving test or scan.

“This is a very positive outcome particularly for residents living in Cape York.”

INSURANCE POOL LEGISLATION to establish the reinsurance pool for cyclone and related flood damage passed parliament, which should mean savings for Cape York home owners and businesses.

More than 880,000 residential, strata and small business property insurance policies across Northern Australia are expected to be covered for the risk of cyclone and related flood damage through the establishment of the reinsurance pool.

The reinsurance pool will be backed by a $10 billion annually reinstated government guarantee and will be administered by the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation.

The reinsurance pool will come into effect from July 1.

“This has been a very long journey for me personally and I have copped a lot of criticism over the years but at the end of the day I have delivered for Far North Queenslanders,” Mr Entsch said.

“The reinsurance pool will drive down insurance prices, put more money in people’s pocket and give

OPPOSITION RESPONSE LABOR’S candidate for Leichhardt, Elida Faith, was not impressed with the budget.

“Regional Queensland got left behind; Far North Queensland has the right to feel a bit left out and neglected, and the budget doesn’t make a whole lot of sense,” she said.

“If the Morrison government was serious about tackling the cost of living crisis that we have and that a lot of families are experiencing they wouldn’t have spent the best part of a decade attacking workers wages, security of work, and Medicare.”

Katter’s Australian Party candidate Rod Jensen said the Far North’s needs had been ignored in favour of short-term “sugar hits”.

Mr Jensen said budget measures to address the cost of living, such as cuts to fuel excise and pay-outs for pensioners, were welcome, but

have seemingly come at the cost of health funding.

He said the budget papers revealed that health funding was getting slashed over the next three years.

“It seems with health services at breaking point, and the disparity of Indigenous health outcomes, the current government would rather allow health services to fend for themselves than offer up any plan or idea moving forward for the future,” Mr Jensen said.

He said the budget papers revealed the current government would cut $21 million from Queensland public hospitals next financial year, to be followed by cuts of $176 million from Queensland hospitals in 2023-24 and 2024-25, which contradicts funding promised just four months ago.

“Far North Queenslanders already suffer the ‘tyranny of distance’ when it comes to healthcare,” the KAP candidate said.

“Further cuts to Queensland hospitals will mean Far North Queenslanders will have to wait longer for access to healthcare than before.”

Those thoughts were echoed by the Labor state government.

Treasurer Cameron Dick said the Prime Minister had made a cold political calculation at the expense of every Queenslander in his desperate bid for re-election.

“This is a budget for the next six weeks, not the next four years,” he said.

“Instead of giving Queensland our fair share, Scott Morrison has clearly decided that he needs votes more in other states.

“He’s spending big in those states, and in doing so showing his scorn for Queenslanders.

“It’s a deliberate pattern that you can see right across the budget.

“All Queensland asks from Scott Morrison is a fair partnership to meet the health needs of our growing population.

“Instead, the budget papers reveal Scott Morrison will cut $21 million from Queensland public hospitals next financial year.

“Queensland hospitals losing federal funding will mean Queenslanders will have to wait longer for the health treatment they deserve.”

NPA welcomes new paediatrician to fold THE Northern Peninsula Area now has access to an experienced paediatric specialist with a passion for rural and remote medicine.

Dr Lauren Kromoloff joined the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service in February.

She is based at both the Bamaga Primary Health Care Centre and on Thursday Island.

It is the first time a paediatrician has been permanently based in the region.

TCHHS executive director of

medical services Marlow Coates said it was an exciting opportunity for local families.

“Dr Kromoloff is offering regular clinics at Thursday Island, at Bamaga and Injinoo,” he said.

“She is currently doing telehealth appointments for the outer islands but will be able to expand this to face-to-face appointments as COVID-19 restrictions ease.”

Dr Kromoloff was born in Tully and did much of her medi-

cal training in the region, including outreach services to the Torres and Cape region in 2019.

She moved to Thursday Island from Alice Springs with husband Dr Adam Shanely, who is an emergency consultant working towards a fellowship in rural and remote Medicine.

Dr Kromoloff said the couple chose the Far North after “wanting a break from the desert” and had been welcomed into the community with open arms.

“I’ve been really enjoying

working so far with families here in the region,” she said.

“People are really interested in doing everything they can to make sure their kids have the best opportunities in life.”

But it hasn’t been totally smooth sailing for Dr Kromoloff since arriving.

She is currently sporting a moon boot after breaking her leg jumping from a boat.

Cape York is also served by a further four paediatricians who provide outreach services.

Man fined $15k for felling trees A MAN as been fined $15,000 by the Cooktown Magistrates Court over the felling of 113 old-growth trees in the Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park.

In 2020, a timber export company entered into an agreement to log Cooktown Ironwood trees (erythrophleum chlorostachys) on two Cape York stations that border the national park.

The man was hired by the timber export company to conduct harvesting activities and he hired other people to conduct the felling.

Between September 18 and October 22, 2020, an unknown timber cutter employed by the man felled 113 trees in the Rinyirru National Park.

On October 21, 2020, a member of the public notified authorities about the felled timber in the national park, and later provided GPS points of location.

In November, Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service rangers catalogued the felled trees, of which 93 were identified as Cooktown Ironwood, with the remaining 20 trees identified as various species.

Rangers measured the top and bottom diameter of every felled tree and provided the measurements to a botanist familiar with the ecology and vegetation of the national park and Cooktown Ironwood trees.

Using those measurements and data on published growth rates, it was estimated more than half of the felled Cooktown Ironwood trees had taken up to 250 years to grow, with the largest tree taking up to 466 years to grow.

Last week, the man failed to appear in court and was sentenced in absentia.

He was fined $15,000 and ordered to pay $250 in legal costs.

As no conviction was recorded, he cannot be named for legal reasons.

Changes could help employers CAPE York’s shortage of workers, particularly in the hospitality industry, could benefit from the federal government’s changes to the Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA).

The government says it is making key changes to ensure Far North Queensland remains fit for purpose as the regional labour market evolves throughout the pandemic.

Changes to the Far North Queensland DAMA include updating the range of occupations across which businesses can source workers.

Included in the FNQ DAMA zone are Cook Shire Council, Weipa Town Authority and the Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council.

Immigration Minister Alex Hawke said the changes came at a critical point as the region experienced an increase in vaccinated overseas visitors.

“The positive economic impact on a number of sectors, such as tourism and hospitality, has been strongly felt across Far North Queensland,” Mr Hawke said.

“As international travellers return to Australia in larger numbers, Far North Queensland will be well prepared and ready to share its world class hospitality and services.”

Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch said the FNQ DAMA would continue to support a range of industries to help to drive the region’s post-COVID recovery.

“This initiative has already helped fill the employment void across many sectors,” Mr Entsch said.

New SES facility almost complete EXPECT to see Weipa’s SES unit to start moving into its new headquarters in the coming weeks.

Local controller Peter “Ziggy” Siegmeier hasn’t got the keys to the new facility yet but believes it will be just days away from happening.

“The last thing that needs to happen is for the power to get switched on and that should be soon,” he said.

“We’ve got a Minister coming up later in the month to have a look but I think the official opening will be in May.” The Weipa SES building in Evans Landing will be shut down once everything is moved to the new facility.

“It’ll be a big job that might take a few days – a lot of stuff could end up in the dump,” Mr Siegmeier said.

The Weipa SES unit should soon have the keys to its new headquarters, based next to the police station in Rocky Point.

POLICE have charged a 27-year-old man with grievous bodily harm following an alleged stabbing on board a prawn trawler in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

Around 9pm on Saturday, the trawler’s captain contacted police following a verbal disagreement which escalated to a physical altercation between two crew members, with a 27-year-old man sustaining a laceration to the arm.

The man was then detained by other crew members, with police from Karumba and detectives from Normanton responding alongside a QAS paramedic aboard a Volunteer Marine Rescue vessel to the trawler.

Upon boarding the trawler, the man was arrested and placed under police guard before being ferried back to the Karumba boat ramp, along with the injured man who was being treated by the attending paramedic, with the journey totalling a near six-hour round trip.

A 22-YEAR-OLD Weipa man was charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm after an incident last month.

It will be alleged around 12.30am on March 19, the accused approached a man on Duyfken Crescent and punched him a number of times.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Weipa Magistrates Court on May 17.

Kowanyama burglary POLICE are investigating a break and enter on a Karrenganang Street address in Kowanyama.

Initial investigations suggest entry was gained to a kitchenette area, between 11.30am and 2.30pm on March 28.

Items including food and a maglite were stolen from the address.

Damage was caused to two internal doors.

Funding to protect native species THE northern quoll and goldenshouldered parrot will benefit from $383,619 in funding across two projects.

Far North Queensland NRM, in partnership with Australian Wildlife Conservancy and the Western Yalanjo Aboriginal Corporation, will receive $247,560, towards further protecting the northern quoll.

Artemis Nature Fund will receive $136,055 towards a project that will reverse woodland thickening to help the golden-shouldered parrots.

Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch welcomed the project funding, saying that the money would be well spent.

“Far North Queensland NRM will install, and monitor clusters of artificial dens close to known populations of the northern quoll,” the MP said.

“They will also promote finescale cultural and ecological mosaic burns to benefit quolls, supporting preferred habitat and their natural expansion as well as linking into genetic research to inform suitability of future management actions for reconnecting isolated populations.

“The Artemis Nature Fund project will include the restoration of habitat for golden-shouldered parrots in Cape York by removing woody weeds, with the support of Traditional Owners.

“It will also include the monitoring of the parrots, their predators and the vegetation before and after the weed removal will allow effectiveness to be measured.”

Environment Minister Sussan Ley said conservation and restoration projects had been allocated a share of $12 million funding.

Seawall now complete THE Boigu Island community is now better protected from rising sea levels and severe weather events with the completion of a one kilometre-long seawall and other works to mitigate coastal inundation.

The $15 million project, on Australia’s most northern point, was made possible through the collaboration of the state and federal governments, and the Torres Strait Island Regional Council.

The project was part of a $40 million program of coastal protection works.

Community Feedback Survey The Rocky Point Community Youth Precinct Project is the creation of an inclusive community youth recreational precinct and vibrant public space for Weipa.

The project incorporates upgrading the existing skatepark and cricket areas, adding new multi-purpose (basketball) courts, expanding skatepark facilities, oval enhancements, new parkour equipment, new meeting spaces, amenities, pathways, lighting, CCTV and shade.

Public feedback on the concept is requested. We value your input into the final design for this important Weipa community asset.

Torres Strait Regional Authority – 2022 Common Funding Round

The Torres Strait Regional Authority (TSRA) is calling for applications from Torres Strait Islander and Aboriginal organisations or individuals who are permanently based within the Torres Strait and Northern Peninsula Area communities of Bamaga and Seisia for grant funding for activities taking place between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023. Funding is available under the following Programmes: Culture Art and Heritage Programme - grants of $5,000 up to $25,000 Eligible projects under this programme include: • Locally managed projects that benefit the whole community such as festivals and events, language projects, recording local stories and songs.

• Production costs to develop traditional and contemporary art forms • Local artists travelling to workshops or key cultural and arts events, such as dance festivals, or arts skills development in any art form or cultural learning.

• Costs of hosting a visiting artist to build local skills • Production costs for projects and events such as lighting, sound, rental of equipment, hire of venues, costuming, design fees, and promotional brochures.

• Training for artists and project managers, such as in marketing or management skills.

• The conservation of restoration of artefacts, photographs, written histories of significance, display of historical material, archiving of heritage materials, family histories or similar.

Healthy Communities Programme – grants of $5,000 or more Eligible projects under this programme include: • Initiatives that provide direct support for Health Promotion and Prevention Awareness projects/activities • Activities that support community members that are not already active • Projects that focus on promoting/educating community around preventative health, like health education, improved promotion/communication throughout the region, in culturally appropriate ways • Projects that can be delivered or supported by Healthy Lifestyle Officers.

Safe Communities Programme – grants of $5,000 or more Eligible projects under this programme include: • Education and support around managing financial difficulties resulting from COVID • Community education and support for COVID-safe activities in communities • Training funding support to improve capacity for community members to become social service providers • Support for events/projects that assist in transitioning communities to COVID safe activities.

TSRA has funded grant writers to assist applicants with their Common Funding Round grant applications. Have your say on mackerel future THE state government says it has moved to protect fishing jobs and give Queenslanders a say on future management of Spanish mackerel stocks.

From tomorrow (Wednesday), the government is seeking input from recreational and commercial fishers on the management of the Spanish mackerel fishery to ensure its long-term sustainability.

Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries Mark Furner said no decision had been made at this time and he wanted to hear from all fishers on what management action should be taken.

“The science tells us that Spanish mackerel stocks are at historically low levels, and action is needed to rebuild the stocks of this iconic fish, which is an important commercial species and a way of life for many recreational fishers” Mr Furner said.

“The recent stock assessment, which has been independently reviewed, concluded the estimated biomass is below the nationally recognised limit reference point level of 20 per cent.

and, in line with our Sustainable Fisheries Strategy 2017-2027, management action is required to rebuild the stock to sustainable levels.”

Mr Furner said possible management actions that could be taken include a reduction in recreational and commercial catch limits, an increase in the legal minimum size and closed seasons or areas to protect schooling mackerel.

“We cannot protect the jobs that depend on Spanish mackerel unless we support the recovery of Spanish mackerel stocks,” he said.

“If there is no fish there are no fishing jobs, so I will do everything I can to restore these stocks so these jobs can have a future for decades to come.”

Mr Furner said some jurisdictions, such as Victoria and South Australia, require recreational fish-

ers to report their catch of key species such as southern rock lobster and snapper.

“We are also seeking comments on a proposal to require recreational fishers to report all Spanish mackerel they keep,” he said.

“We promised that we would consult before these decisions were made, and the time has come for people to have their say.”

Mr Furner said the overwhelming feedback from previous fisheries reforms was that stakeholders wanted reform in Queensland fisheries.

“We will carefully consider all feedback before final decisions are made on management actions ahead of the 2022 fishing season, commencing on July 1,” he said.

“This is all about sustainability and making sure we have Spanish Mackerel for the future, including the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.

“Our fisheries resources are not infinite, and we need to manage them in a way that ensures future generations will enjoy the same access that we do.”

Meanwhile, the Opposition says the state government has been

dragged kicking and screaming to open consultation about the future of the Spanish mackerel fishery.

“Finally, after relentless pressure from the LNP, commercial and recreation fishers will have the opportunity for their voice to be heard,” MP Tony Perrett said as the LNP’s spokesperson for fisheries.

“The admission by Minister Mark Furner that he got it wrong follows increased pressure on the state government to detail information surrounding stock assessments and data collection.

“It also follows claims of flawed data collection and significant public backlash.

“The Minister’s admission is overdue.

“Decisions made by the Palaszczuk governemnt must be evidence based and rely on data that is collected in an open and transparent manner.

SPORT IN BRIEF Biddle, Butler salute SATURDAY turned out to be the perfect dry wet season day for a game of golf at Cooktown – zero wind, zero cloud, zero parking spots at any boat ramp.

High humidity and a fun day of ambrose which was won by Team BidBut, consisting of newest member Daniel Biddle who was drawn with current club champ Steve Butler.

Their nett 62 was matched by Team MacMac, made up of Jayde McGowan and John McArthur but they were relegated to second place after the countback method.

In third spot was Team ButRol, the pairing of Rick Butler and Mark Rolan with a nett 64.

The nearest to the pins went to Steve Butler for 2/11 and 14, while Rick Butler walked away with 9/18.

This Saturday’s event is the Easter Medal to be played off the red tees at 9.30am.

Weipa’s Saturday prize winners were Warren Brewer, Alan Wyness and Garry Breitkreutz.

Wyness are grinners ALAN Wyness was Carpentaria Golf Club’s stroke event winner on Saturday.

He had a nett 74 to beat all comers in the Derek Tata-sponsored event.

Runner-up was Garry Breitkreutz with a nett 76. Nearest to pins went to Wyness on 7 and Warren Brewer on 18.

Craven more victories ROSS Craven continued his good run of form with a win in the Dawn Busters golf at Weipa on Sunday morning.

In a field of 10, it was just John Dall who settled for the runner-up position.

Healy the hero in World Cup final victory AUSTRALIA has won its seventh women’s ODI World Cup, beating England by 71 runs in the final on the back of a recordbreaking innings by Alyssa Healy.

Healy (pictured) notched the highest score in a women’s or men’s World Cup final, hammering 170 off 138 balls to help Australia reach 5-356 after being sent in to bat by England.

Backing up 129 in the semifinal against West Indies, Healy passed 500 runs for the tournament as she led Australia to the biggest total in a women’s final.

Huge boost for netball in remote parts of the state NETBALL Queensland’s Diamond Spirit program will benefit from a multi-year partnership with Health and Wellbeing Queensland.

The partnership will see close to half a million dollars invested into the program over the next two years.

The Diamond Spirit program uses netball to engage, empower and educate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls in remote and regional communities across Queensland.

Netball Queensland CEO Kate Davies said she is looking forward to seeing more lives be transformed with the help of the partnership.

“Diamond Spirit is an amazing program and the tangible community benefits are shaping lives across Queensland,” she said.

“It is wonderful to know they will be able to continue to do so for years to come.
