VAX RATES LIFT WITH PERSONAL APPROACH
Leg work pays off By MATT NICHOLLS
A DOOR-to-door approach by the Torres and Cape Health Service is paying dividends in the race to lift the vaccination rate.
More than 90 per cent of the eligible Aurukun population has now received its first dose after the health service ramped up its efforts to get jabs in arms. “Our health facilities all have
good records of the residents in their communities, so we know who has and hasn’t been vaccinated,” TCHHS chief executive Bev Hamerton said. “So, what we have been doing,
especially in communities with low vaccination rates, is contacting every individual that we know has not yet been vaccinated or has only had one dose of vaccine, including by going door-to-door.

“As part of this face to face approach, we also have introduced our First Nations COVID–19 Vaccination Team to tackle hesitancy in some communities.” Full story – Pages 8 and 9
