Accompanied by a Capella Culturist, guests can dip into today-in-history news from nearly a century ago on Shun Pao (1872-1949), a venerable newspaper that was the longest-lasting and probably most influential newspaper in modern China.
To top off the experience, guests will be able to have a vintage-style portrait taken by our Capella Culturist, capturing memories in the tranquil surroundings of the Shikumen sanctuary. This one-of-a-kind photo opportunity is sure to leave guests with a treasured remembrance of their time at The Living Room.

COCKTAIL RITUAL
A COCK TAIL TOUR INSPIRED FROM OLD SHANGHAI
In the 1930s, Shanghai was known as the “Paris of the East”, a melting pot of cultures, where East and West mingled. Unlike the United States, where alcohol prohibition was in force, international immigrants in Shanghai at the time were not restricted by law if they wanted to drink. Bars, nightclubs and dance halls did not have to adhere to any opening or closing times, so people could drink and party as much as they wanted, and the city became known to Americans as the "Double Fist". Shanghai was obsessed with cocktails and almost every half-decent bar had a mixologist and every bartender could mix a mean drink. At Le Bar, carefully selected classic cocktails will take you on a journey through time and taste, as we celebrate the rich heritage and vibrant energy of Shanghai, with the charm of old times.
